Serves meat, vegan options available. Chinese takeaway with a variety vegan friendly options, including meat substitutes for duck and chicken dishes in a selection of choices. Open Mon 17:00-21:30, Wed-Fri 17:00-21:30, Sat 17:00-22:00.
G We didn't get to try any of their food. The person taking orders couldn't say if their vegetarian dishes contained dairy or egg, and when asked for the allergen info, said they didn't have any information.
I asked if they could talk to the chefs, but was told, "They won't understand the question."
Given the 2017 positive review, I can only imagine that this is not how they always were. In 2024, I was taken aback by the rude tone and lack of trying even a tiny bit to help a customer find the information needed to make a decision on suitability.
I've never given a bad review before, but anyone hoping for vegan food in Kingsbridge would be best going elsewhere.
Yummy House is a takeaway only establishment that only accepts cash and does not deliver at present.
They have the job of competing with long established Cafe Asia at the bottom of town but after expressly informing Cafe Asia of our dietary requirements and them sending us mixed meat noodles, we tend to stick with the equally tasty Yummy House.
Yummy make a conscious effort to be accessible to vegans. Their menu is a little confusing in that their meat substitutes are labelled "vegetarian duck/chicken" but I am assuming this is more down to translation. When I asked for fried rice without egg, they immediately asked if we were vegan.
We have tried a couple of meat substitute dishes and enjoyed them, and the tofu option is a firm favourite.
My only criticism is the second time we ordered friend rice with the egg removed there was definitely egg in the order. Not a lot, and when we rang them the person on the phone was 100% certain there was no egg. We were 100% certain there was...I think what happened was a separate pan was not used or cleaned in between. Not ideal, and we haven't ordered the rice since but I believe it was a mistake in the kitchen.
