PeTA would approve

PeTA argues that vegans not abstain from eating vegan food prepared on greasy grills and with utensils that also cook meat. I certainly respect that view, as well as respect those who don't mind when their vegan food is cooked on shared grills. However, a review on HC is meant to reflect each reviewer's individual preferences and biases, and for myself, I am too squeamish to eat food prepared in such a manner.

This "vegan" place is actually simply a menu that forms part of a deli that serves meat etc. and has some seating upstairs to eat your wares. The deli is named "Hungry and Healthy Marketplace," and it has a separate listing on HC--though make no doubt about it, this is not a true vegan restaurant: it is simply a menu of food prepared by the Plantega company that is served in this omni deli and that is cooked on the same grill as the meat. I gave Hungry and Healthy Marketplace its own review, but since I see that Plantega has a separate listing, I give it a separate review as well.

Pros: convenient, open early and late, good if you don't care about cross-contamination

Cons: vegan prepared food cooked on meaty grills

The update button on the main listing screen can be used to report these guys for misrepresenting their business. I submitted one, but the more the better.

Disappointed

This place is advertised as vegan but is not. It’s an option inside of a grocery store and deli. Cook shares the grill with regular meat options. Very disappointed. We’re in NYC on vacation and I strive on supporting vegan businesses. We we’re pretty far from it but seems to be the only “vegan” breakfast place near Central Park. Truly disappointed

Pros: Vegan options

Cons: Normie place advertised as vegan, No parking, Eating area is a sad room on the second floor

It’s weird that Happy Cow advertises Plantega bodegas as fully vegan bodegas. I was confused at first as well. They’re all around the city and the idea is that as many NYC delis as possible have a plant-based menu in addition to their carnist menu to make eating plant-based easier for people. I asked the Plantega team on Instagram if the food is cooked on shared equipment and the answer was that in most cases, yes - although “some” try to have a designated area of the grill for that plant-based menu. I guess good if you don’t care but I find it gross.

Click the report update vegan options changed no longer vegan, it's not HappyCow these losers self report as vegan and it's up to us to keep the businesses from misrepresenting themselves. 🤮🤮🤮🤮

I talked to the Plantega people about this. They have good intentions but have limited control over how their food is prepared once it is sent to the delis. Good intentions or not, however, I agree with INTJ_mara and would find it gross.

Yeah, it's gross, unsafe, intentionally misleading and fraud to list a business as fully vegan when there is meat and other animal torture products prepared on the same equipment.

It’s not even a separate business. Is literally another menu. Same cook. Same grill. Same everything. You can see the meats on their fridge for crying out loud. I asked the cook: are you sure is vegan ?

Don't worry you can always trust people who sell dead babies for money to behave with integrity when it comes to profits! 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
