Not bad coffee

Me and GC decided to try out costa after passing by it for years at this point. I got an iced latte with oat milk and vanilla syrup and a slice of rocky road, GC got an iced latte with cinnamon bun syrup and a slice of rocky road.

I thought both lattes were about what you would expect for what they were, strangely I didn't have a preference between them, I ended up taking GC's one instead because they weren't into the cinnamon bun syrup.

I forgot they had "ultimate blend" option for milk and ended up getting oat as it's my default. They don't charge for soy milk but they do charge for oat and it's 60c which is the most expensive I have seen so that's fairly annoying.

The rocky road was nice, and an okay size for what it was.

The staff member that served us was very friendly and the seating area was comfortable and had room for bags which was very useful.

Overall a good experience but nothing amazing, useful location though.

Pros: Coffee , Staff, Rocky road

Cons: Oat milk charge

What you'd expect

I got an iced oat milk latte with cinnamon bun syrup and a rocky road. I had some of Purp's iced oat milk latte with vanilla syrup. Then we swapped.

The iced lattes were both very nice and exactly what I wanted. The cinnamon bun syrup was very nice, but I generally don't like cinnamon in coffee and I have absolutely no idea why I ordered it. The vanilla syrup was very nice, not too sweet or strong but definitely noticeable. Luckily Purp liked both coffees so they offered to swap with me.

The rocky road was very nice, and a decent size for €3.60 a piece.

Soya milk is free, but all other plant milks (including the Costa Ultimate Blend, whatever that is) have a ridiculous €0.60 charge. I think that's the highest charge I've ever seen.

Their marshmallows are vegan, as well as the Lite Whip, but I didn't get either so can't comment on taste.

Medium is the name of their largest size, which is unusual.

They have other food options that I didn't try, including a Bosh! ham and cheese toasted sandwich and chocolate cookie, and some pre packaged flapjacks.

Vegan food is clearly marked but the symbol is very similar to their "Veggie" one which shows what is vegetarian so make sure to look closely.

Our order came to just under €20, which is expensive but so far they have the best vegan latte in Castlebar so I would come here again. Plus they're in Tesco shopping centre so they're in a convenient location and there are free bathrooms only a few meters away.

The staff were friendly. The Costa websites nutritional sheets show what's suitable for vegans.

Pros: Nice iced oat lattes, Convenient location, Good selection of vegan food and coffees

Cons: €0.60 charge for non dairy milk (except soya..?), No vegan cake slices, Expensive
