Lovely cafe - Edit
The soy matcha latte, ice cream, and brownie were excellent, the owner was very nice and offered to use English. Very mellow time facing the quiet side street.

Shizuoka's Specialty--- Green Tea Sweets! - Edit
First of all, I have to say that I think it' very clever that the name of the shop is pronounced like Chateau (10 can be pronounced JYU or TO in Japanese)--- like a castle in French. I went with a co-worker who explained that to me and that blew my mind because I'd been pronouncing it CHA-TEN or CHA-JYU.
Read moreGreen tea is a specialty of Shizuoka, so if you want to experience the local culture, then this is a very good place to do so. The green tea lattes (make sure to specify that you want soy milk) are delicious and I really enjoyed the treats that they have as well.
I wish they didn't offer cow's milk for the lattes, because then this place would be entirely vegan. It seems unnecessary when the rest of the shop is cruelty-free.
The cafe is small, but if can grab a window seat and people watch while you eat your treats!
Pros: Excellent vegan treats, Shizuoka local culture on display, Nice owner
Cons: Offers cows milk, which is unnecessary, Can get crowded on weekends

Amazing green tea drinks and vegan sweets! - Edit
Cha10 is a my absolute favorite green tea/matcha cafe anywhere, let alone in Shizuoka. They serve delicious drinks, and every dessert I’ve had there is amazing. It’s hard to choose a favorite drink, but I’d definitely recommend the nitro and also the houjicha (roasted green tea) latte. (Be sure to specify soy milk for any lattes if you’re vegan). All of the desserts are vegan.
Read moreThe cafe is run by a wonderful lady who makes and serves all of the drinks and desserts. It can get pretty crowded on weekend afternoons, so if you don’t want to wait for a seat and/or your treats, then I’d recommend going before 2 pm.
Note—the menu is in Japanese, but everything has pictures. You can make your order by pointing and using a bit of English with the Japanese-speaking staff without any issues.
