Gorgeous food, atmosphere and staff

Came just after 3pm for lunch. They close the kitchen around then but fit us in. They only take cash so come prepared.

The shop was whimsical, arty and old timey with Japanese culture mixed in. The music was low and relaxing, I felt relieve when I walked in from the busy street. Such a lovely place and vibe.

The staff speak some English, she was very helpful, welcoming and kind. Explained the options with the food and gave us a vegan menu to pick from.

The food was beautifully presented, the meals were made quickly, the quality could be tasted, portions were generous and all the elements worked perfectly. We had the keema curry and soy meat set with the apple pie and banana cake. Everything was delicious and when we paid she gave us a free packet of biscuits. Such a lovely experience would recommend!

Pros: Great food , Big portions , Cute vibe

A hidden gem

This cosy little restaurant serves excellent vegan and vegetarian food for a reasonable price. It’s located in a very unassuming street in Shizuoka (near Mt Fuji), Japan.

The service is friendly and the food is excellent, and reasonably priced. There’s a great selection of dishes on the vegan plate (although I must confess I don’t know exactly what everything was). They also serve vegan desserts and drinks such as matcha lattes etc.

One potential criticism is that it can get quite busy and only appears to have 2 employees. Whilst this isn’t an issue in itself, it can mean the wait time to be served is slightly longer than in some other places.

Nonetheless, I would 100% recommend trying this restaurant out! 💚

Cozy and delicious!

I tried to come here last year without checking the schedule and they were unfortunately closed at the time.

Finally made it here for lunch today, and it was great! Each of the side dishes were tasty, and you even have a choice of rice!

The venue itself is really cute, and it sells a few vegan mixes (like for pancakes, brownies, etc.) and dry cookies.

I also got a soy yogurt tart and it was delicious! Very happy with the quality, as I’m usually disappointed with sweets in Japan in general.

Definitely would recommend! But make sure you check their schedule!

Pros: Close to Shizuoka station and immigration office, Fully vegan, delicious, Cute atmosphere

Cons: Schedule varies

A must visit in Shizuoka

Delightful little cafe / diner near to the train station & close to Sumpo castle park so you can walk your dinner off after! The food was fresh, full of umami flavours & presented beautifully. Would recommend for any vegan / vegetarian visiting Shizuoka. No English menu, but this doesn't matter as you can just use Google translate or ask the owner if you need anything explaining as everything is vegan.

Pros: Delicious food, Lovely owners, Relaxing atmosphere

Favorite set meals from Japan

Menu was entirely in Japanese so make sure to have a translator app. Food was amazing. Make sure to check out the snacks on the way out. Sandwich cookies were my favorite. Would go back again!! We got a set meal with many different side dishes.

Relaxed fairy-tale vibes

Walking into Locomani is like walking into a fairy-tale cabin in the woods. It's very charming. It has a very homey and relaxed vibe and is my go-to whenever I want to eat out in Shizuoka during the day time (I only wish it were open later). It's only a few minutes walk from Shin-Shizuoka station, so it's pretty easily accessible. Since the menu changes with the season, it's fun to go there and try different foods! Locomani is a very popular restaurant (with vegans and non-vegans alike), so make sure to get there early to get a seat since the shop is small. :)

Pros: Menu changes with the season (new foods to try), Charming feel, Kind owners

Cons: Closes fairly early

Came back for more

I was in Shizuoka for just two days and my first lunch was so great I came back the next day -- with friends. Great quality and amazing desserts. Living in Tokyo, I am sad I can't come here more!! I recommend the daizu (soy) meat karaage, and the seasonal fig tart was excellent. The staff were also very accommodating -- I mentioned I'm not a fan of hijiki (a type of seaweed) and the subbed a brand new side dish for my picky palette.

Pros: High quality vegan cooking, Amazing desserts, Helpful staff

Fantastic vegan cafe near Shizuoka-Station

Delicious taco-rice with choices of brown, white, or half-and-half mixed rice. Great light meal. Followed with ‘healthy gateau-chocolat ‘. Everything vegan.

Seating for 15 in this small, retro style cafe at tables & window counter. Friendly staff. Japanese menu: daily set & Taco-rice regularly offered as well as cakes, cookies, organic & fair-trade coffee & tea.

Pros: Great vegan dishes & desserts , Clean, retro wooden interior , Near Shizuoka-Station near Sunpu castle park

Cons: No English menu, No English on specials board

It’s wonderful!

I went vegan places in Tokyo, but Locomani has a better food!
