I enjoy the C-Street Market a lot and all its vendors. There’s usually someone here doing gluten free/vegan sweets and then there’s vegan horchata that was served here this year I didn’t get the chance to try, but the agua de Jamaica was great. And oh do I love buying earrings!
I stopped by here while visiting family in Springfield. They have a nice selection of produce, some baked goods, and some crafts. I was able to get some veggies and gluten free vegan goodies. They had one vendor with vegan and vegan/gf options when I went, and they recommended coming early. They only had two options left by the time I arrived: bread and blueberry english muffins. Yum!
C-Street City Market isn't just a farmer's market, it's a City Market. This is the only true City Market found in Springfield, and as such is a sight to be seen. The market has roughly 30 vendors with an assortment of goods as varied as tent colours. There are crafts such as jewelry, shirts, and furniture. There is food - fresh produce, gluten free treats (some VEGAN!), grass fed meats (for our meat eating friends), breads of all varieties, coffee, teas, and one vendor who even specializes in vegan baked goods and vegan kava kava preparations (often featuring rich and elegant coconut milk!). There is even a little something for your furry friends with a boutique dog and cat treat baker.
These wares are coupled with henna artistry and the special events that seem to grace C-Street every month. For the grand opening, there were comic book characters roaming the street (such as Thor and Batman) as well as Disney Princesses. There was a neighbourhood croquet tournament that, due to its whimsy, could only be called a C-Street take on Alice in Wonderland.
With all this and more, C-Street City Market is a hidden gem in Springfield - A shining light for urban communitarians of all type to gather and enjoy.
