Yummy & healthy

Neat space with both a disco ball and a chandelier-type light fixture, high tables, bar space, and traditional dining tables to chose from. I had a wonderful Irish Stew with kombucha but if you're up for indulgence there are beautiful cocktails and desserts too!

Pros: So many vegan choices, Fast friendly service

Underwhelming is an understatement

Not being from salt Lake city, maybe this is what people consider to be good food? I sure hope not.

While some things were very good, others were definitely not. Potatoes were undercooked and almost flavorless. I was impressed in particular with the pancakes, even after drowning them in syrup it just tasted like there was nothing in my mouth.

I implore the owner to go to Manhattan for a weekend and try some of the amazing vegan restaurants and then bring some of those things back to salt Lake City.

Pros: All vegan, Friendly staff, Clean bathrooms

Cons: Food has almost no flavor, Undercooked potatoes, Underwhelming is an understatement

Underwhelming main

We had the jalapeno poppers and brussel sprouts to start. Both were good, the poppers portion was fairly small while the sprouts portion was quite large. But both pretty tasty

For the main we had the traditional pizza, and it was disappointing. The first order they gave us was burnt, and they kindly replaced it but it was still average. The base might have been gluten free, but that wasn't labeled on the menu and it lacked flavor and was incredibly thin. The toppings were fine, not overly flavorsome.

Had the carrot cake for dessert which might have been gluten free, and it was decent. A large Portion so glad we only ordered one

Zest is truly zesty!

We were visiting SLC from Portland and Zest was the first vegan place recommended by the caretaker of the B&B where we were staying. Such a great dinner, from the very creative drinks to the brussel sprouts appetizer to the chocolate torte dessert! Amazing.

Super place for nicer vegan dinners.

We came for our anniversary, it was lovely to find a vegan restaurant that offered cocktails and wine, as these are rare to find. The food was all delicious but have to give a special shout out to the stuffed mushrooms bcs they were incredible.

Can’t wait to visit again.

Food was just okay

I had the jackfruit tacos and tried the margherita pizza. Everything was just okay. The menu is small. Would not order either item again.

Creative menu, good food, great service

Out of the places we dined at in Salt Lake City, this restaurant had the best ambiance, & was neither too casual or too formal. The menu & drinks are very creative. My wife & I had a kombucha & a shrub soda. We had the brussel sprouts, tomato basil bisque soup, & the Thai sunrise. The food & drinks were great. The service was awesome. Parking is in their lot or on the street. We were fill & were flying in the morning so didn't get desert this time.

Pros: Great service, Creative menu

Solid vegan choice

Stopped here for an early dinner passing through town — cool spot with great staff.
Nachos were great. Brussels sprouts weren’t the flavor profile we were expecting and we didn’t end up finishing them. We split jackfruit tacos (Omni friends were impressed), and had a straw-bubbly cocktail (like a lemonade meets a melted daiquiri)
Clean place w all staffed vaxxed.

Bad Service and SEVERAL Hairs In Food

After my move from Germany to Salt Lake, a couple of my friends, my in laws and husband went to this place after our civil wedding. We thought it would be a nice place since they seemed like a fancier vegan restaurant in Salt Lake. We even called them beforehand to tell them our occasion and made a reservation.

The waitress that seated us was super rude, she also acted dismissive and arrogant towards us (I get that marrying in Utah is very popular and weddings aren’t anything special here anymore.. However it was still not nice to be treated like that right after signing our marriage certificate).

About the food: My friend’s Grilled Cheese was burnt. My food tasted kinda dull, nothing amazing - nothing super bad. Everyone else also thought it was OK food - definitely overpriced for what you get!!

The worst was my husband’s dish though: he found a dark thick hair in his food… We’re no drama queens - we get that this can happen once - so he wiped it onto a napkin and kept eating. He took another two bites and then he had another thick dark hair in his mouth. Gross! This kept on going, finding several hairs hidden everywhere in his food! When we nicely told the waitress she didn’t even care, she just went to tell the chef. We didn’t even get to hear a sorry or anything like that.

So yeah, this was an awful experience and we will never go there again.

Pros: lots of vegan food

Cons: Overpriced and expensive , Rude staff and bad customer service

Kitschy vegan dining

Food ***
They have so many options which is wonderful so it was hard to decide. We got the stuffed mushrooms and the power salad with black bean patty. The mushrooms were great but the salad had so much dressing on it, that was so acidic it actually left our lips a little raw. We Hardly ever get dessert but we couldn’t resist - we got the tiramisu cheesecake. If you like tiramisu, which is Jesse’s favorite, it’s a must try. But even as a fanatic we would still recommend trying the chocolate hazelnut one instead.

Service ****
Can choose inside or outside, touch less menu

Atmosphere****
Very cool bar vibe and they even had a DJ playing.

Price$$$
Just a tad on the pricier side

Pros: Incredible vegan options, Awesome atmosphere

Cons: Pricey

I hate terrible service.

5 stars for food, 0 for service.
2pm, hand full of tables that 3 servers can't seem to handle.

So good I had to have it twice.

It takes a lot for a restaurant to impress me, I’m jaded and spoiled by the food in Austin, but oh man, Zest was amazing. For lunch I had the carrot soup and it was absolutely delicious. For dinner I had the curry, and a screwdriver made with cold pressed orange juice. They were all phenomenal. My waiter was very considerate to bring my vodka on the side so that I got my full glass of juice.
I interacted with probably five or six different staff members and they were all awesome. They were nice without being saccharine or phony, they all seemed to be enjoying themselves at work.

Pros: The food including the bar and juice, The staff were all absolutely wonderful , Healthy food that’s still hardy and filling

Cons: Literally nothing to criticize

Clean vegan food!

We stopped in on a cross-country trip in an RV and were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant where we could eat almost anything on the menu. In addition to being vegan, we are very particular about what we eat, and want clean ingredients. The staff at zest was very friendly and knowledgeable and accommodating to our preferences.

Note to travels: in Salt Lake City, children are not allowed in restaurants that also serve alcohol.

Pros: Lots of vegan and gluten-free options. , Knowledgeable and accommodating staff, Yummy food!!!

Cons: A little expensive for what it was - but worth it

Fantastic food and quality of alcohol options

We bought the Thai pizza and Nachos, the Nachos were my favorite and my wife favored the Thai Pizza. I got the Scottish ale and the Dallas Alice blonde ale. Both were great but the Dallas was better. Beers range from $5 and up.

Pros: Plenty of alcohol options like ciders and kombucha, The Nachos are epic, It's vegan yo

Cons: Make reservations at night or wait times longish

Thai pizza was amazing!

I loved visiting this restaurant while in Salt Lake City for a night. I shared the stuffed mushrooms, avocado salad, and thai pizza with a friend (who is not vegan). Everything was fantastic but the thai pizza was both of our favorite. We also got great drinks! I loved my jalapeño margarita. I’ll definitely return if I’m in SLC again!
