Delicious and fully vegan! - Edit
Zest is a wonderful option for vegans! It's great to have allergy friendly vegan restaurants around here! I love the atmosphere. Dining in is nice and I have had a great experience with the staff. I have tried these items:
Read moreStuffed mushrooms
Jalapeño poppers
Cheese biscuits
Chips with salsa and guacamole
Pasta of the day (broccolini alfredo)
Thai Sunrise
Salted caramel chocolate hazelnut tart
Everything I have had has been delicious. The Jalapeño poppers were a little more bland than I expected but were still good. The pesto sauce with the mushrooms and cheese biscuits is amazing.

Cute downtown spot - Edit
Great place for cocktails and good variety on their menu. I had the lunch entree of pasta with summer vegetables. It had a cream sauce that was tasty and a great variety of veggies.
Read moreJust a heads up that their online menu on their website doesn't match their QR code menu at the restaurant. I was super bummed as both items I wanted to order, I couldn't order. So be prepared that you might have to revise your plan.

Cute and tasty! - Edit
I liked this place. The staff was super fun and chill, and the place had a good vibe. We came for lunch, which has a pretty limited menu, though, so there were a lot of things that we weren’t able to try. I had the protein greens salad and my partner had the nachos, and we shared 50/50, so got to enjoy both. I liked everything!
Read moreWe were a little bummed that specials were only at dinner, which starts at 4pm. The small lunch menu is the only reason this is four stars. Maybe dinner is a little more robust, but you can’t view the dinner menu off the QR code at lunchtime.
Some other reviews called it expensive but I found it really reasonable. For the salad and nachos our bill was $25. But I’m not local to the area and this was my first meal here, so maybe I’m more adjusted to cities with generally higher price tags across the board. I thought $25 was fair.

Very good vegan food - Edit
Great food, a little on the expensive side, but I would highly highly recommend it. The pizza is one of the best vegan pizzas I’ve ever had.

It's so refreshing to go to a vegan restaurant that doesn't have faux ultra processed meats foods. The super food salad was absolutely fantastic.

Good Food - Edit
I loved the chocolate hazelnut dessert. I found protein lacking on the menu. As a long-time vegan, I look for tofu, seitan, beans, etc. but didn’t see much that appealed. I got the pizza, it was ok.

Wonderful! - Edit
Enjoyed a meal here with my daughters while in town, and we loved it. We should have diversified, but we shared stuffed mushrooms, all had grilled cheese with soup, and we shared a big piece of chocolate cake that I’m still salivating over days later.

A little overhyped but still solid - Edit
It was good food but I think my expectations were inflated by the reviews. Also the portion sizes were disappointing given the price. I did enjoy my meal though.

Scrumptious food for the SLC area! Went several years ago, so I’m sure the menu has changed since then. Would go back in a minute. Kudos to your restaurant for making such a great experience for the both of us.

Underwhelmed - Edit
I was really excited to try this place. Maybe I was just unlucky.
Read moreMy order was very bland. It also tastes soapy. Not a flavor I’m used to having in my food and I eat A LOT of vegan food all over the world.
The most depressing thing about the meal is how little you get for a $22 plate. I left and literally went directly to another restaurant to eat again. I ate my entire plate of Alfredo and it was like nothing.
I would try this place again because clearly they are making food that a lot of people like. Maybe my expectations were just too high.

Delicious, healthy whole food plant-based meals! - Edit
Went here while visiting SLC and got the jalapeño poppers and superfood protein salad (half-size). The portion size was excellent for the price and the salad was especially delicious! No need to give up flavor when eating healthy. Would definitely recommend!

Best in the Area - Edit
As a SLC vegan, Zest is the only vegan restaurant in the area fit for date night, celebration, or just treating yourself to a nice meal out. They got the food, the drinks and the vibes!
Read moreThe dishes are creative and thoughtful, but you can't beat the classics like the nachos. Almost everything is made in-house, and you can choose between more healthy fare like the superfood salad, or opt for a more "junk-food" option like the buffalo jackfruit pizza. The portions are good and the quality is high, so although it is on the pricy side, you really feel like you are getting your money's worth. Not only is the food amazing, but they serve delicious cocktails and the bartenders are always changing up the specials, my favorite drink is the Northern Lights. The restaurant is also no longer 21+, so families are welcome. They also have a separate brunch menu that they serve almost everyday. Just gotta share my love for this place!
Favorite dishes: almond masala brussel sprouts, stuffed mushrooms, nachos, mushroom pho, samosa burger, jerk jackfruit plate, chocolate beet torte, carrot cake
Pros: Excellent Food, Great for date night/nice vibe, Yummy cocktails
Cons: Sometimes options are out of stock, no longer 21+

Great spot for a nice dinner - Edit
2024: Upgrading my review from 2 stars to 5. I do not at all remember having eaten here before, and didn’t notice that I’d already left a review a few years back until the following day. I’ll leave my original review below, but our meal this time around was fantastic. Maybe the take-out just wasn’t as good as dining in, or they’ve stepped their game up a lot. In any event, a bit on the expensive side, but everything was very tasty, and a meat-eater could definitely have a good meal here as well. Nachos stood out on the appetizer front if you’re looking for something to share!

2020: Didn’t live up to expectations
I definitely commend this place for making a chic vegan restaurant, and I’m sure the establishment itself is a cool spot (we got takeout). That said, the food is only...so-so. It looks fantastic, and it’s creative, but it’s all a little bland and the flavors are weird. We tried 4 dishes and 3 were meh (though the fourth, an order of jalapeño poppers, was dank). I’ll note that I’ve never given a vegan restaurant less than 3 stars before, and I almost always give 4 or 5.
The meal was definitely a bit of a turn-off to vegan food as a whole for the carnist who ate it with me. I wouldn’t get food from here again I don’t think.

First bite was umami spice perfection - Edit
I only get a chance to come in here every once in a while because I live out of town but I am never disappointed. I ordered the mushroom pho and from the very first bite it had just a little bit of spice the hit of umami. I feel like I sensed some lemongrass. The bean sprouts were perfect as was the rice noodles. On a cold day like today. This warmth just makes me feel like the best human on the planet. Thank you, Zest kitchen!
