Best spot for vegan breakfast! Won't let me give them a 5 star because they have non vegan options. Must try this spot. Service was on point, too.

Delicious, friendly staff, cozy place - Edit
We sat by the fireplace and enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The have gluten free/vegan everything, and tons of great choices. We got a tofu scramble with an avocado sauce and potatoes, so savory and spiced perfectly. We also tried the pumpkin cheese crepe(my favorite) and the banana foster crepe. They were understaffed the day we went but we still had great personal service. I also appreciated the homemade oat milk for the coffee.

Thank you so much for sharing, and glad you had a wonderful experience! Half of our team was unable to make it in due to the ice on Sunday, and we only have 4 team members including us owners through this winter season, but we do our best not to close unless we have to!

Looks better than it tastes - Edit
Handsomely presented food, but some missteps on texture and flavor. The gluten free crepes are gummy and spongy and interfere with the generous fresh vegetable fillings which were noticeably underseasoned. No salt on the breakfast potatoes. Pizza sauce served instead of ketchup. Watery coffee. Delicious fresh squeezed orange juice served in a glass half full. Service okay.

Decent breakfast find - Edit
Several vegan options. Crepes, scrambles, breakfast pita pizzas. Fresh ingredients. My mushroom gravy and kale crepe needed some salt. The crepe itself was a little dense. Overall, not bad but not brilliant. We will eat here again. Don't be in a hurry if you come here.

I loved the overall vibe of the cafe. My mom and I played Jenga while we waited, and they had tons of game options.
Read moreThe crepe was tasty, but for the price, I wish it had more to it. I wasn’t very full after. Maybe add some vegan cheese and/or sausage. The pizza was ok, I prob wouldn’t order it again.
I’d probably go back to support small business and enjoy the atmosphere. But now I know what to expect.
Pros: Tasty crepe , Fun atmosphere , Friendly and helpful staff
Cons: Not super filling , Quality didn’t match price

Thanks for your feedback, glad you enjoyed the atmosphere! We have since put out a new menu with adjusted priced, many went down this time including The Oregonian crepe. We adjust prices regularly to keep things as affordable as possible, and make everything from scratch. I am curious what pizza you had, as usually our guest love them... would hate for you to miss our over our mistake on one pizza!

Decent - Edit
We ordered the grilled cheese crepe. It was good, but more cheese than crepe. Usually that wouldn’t be a problem as we love cheese, but without other flavors, it’s a bit much. Definitely should have tried the pesto one instead.

Hi! We closed for a remodel shortly after your review and reopened with a streamlined menu of just our best dishes! We will still make a grilled cheese if requested, but want to avoid anyone regretting their choice! We just brought back our Zesto Pesto crepe and the pesto is made from scratch to be vegan. If you are able to come see us (and the nice new flooring we replaced the old nasty carpet with!) I'd love to offer you our "make it right" discount on your visit!

Crappy Creperie - Edit
We wanted to eat outside, but the seating was unavailable for some unknown reason, so we decided to ordered takeout. The employee didn't acknowledge us even though we were standing right near them. I ordered the Lemon Zest crepe, and my partner ordered the Oregonian crepe. We waited almost 40 minutes even though there was only one couple who arrived before us. There were only two employees, and neither wore a mask even though it's currently required by State mandate. The employee who took our order also cooked, but did not have their hair pulled back as required by food sanitation rules. After the long wait, and the lack of safety, I received a flavorless crepe.
Read morePros: clearly-marked vegan options, environmentally-friendly takeout containers
Cons: slow service, employees not following safety standards, outdoor seating unavailable
ZestGardenCafe
So sorry about the lack of communication of your visit, but I am sure we were busy whether it was evident or not, as much of our setup and systems were incredibly inefficient at the time. Outdoor service was not offered because we didn't have the capacity. We have since remodeled and remedied many of these issues. We now offer service outside as we are able, but takeout has always been welcome. You are absolutely right the kitchen staff should have had their hair pulled back, but we did have employees with medical accommodations around wearing face coverings. With our open kitchen, we figured there was transparency and anyone uncomfortable with that could dine elsewhere, since our staff and one owner couldn't work elsewhere. As far as the wait, I can only speculate, but would guess there was likely something, like the mushroom gravy or crepe batter, being made from scratch, as we never stand around waiting to make orders! We have always done our best and I am sorry we did not meet your expectations. If you are able to give us another chance I'd like to make up for your negative experience if possible. We have a whole new layout and expanded team and new menu. My apologies again.

Vegan Crepes! And options! - Edit
We walked in around 1pm on a Tuesday and almost had the place to ourself. There was a single staff working who was friendly and welcoming. She was knowledgeable on how to make each crepe vegan. We had two savory crepes and one sweet; all flavors were great and food came out fast. Servings are on the smaller side, but they’re crepes so not sure what one would expect 🙂

I hadn't had crepes since becoming vegan 21 years ago. Zest reminded me of how yummy these treats are. I had a wonderful savory mushroom crepe, and split a sweet blackberry one with friends. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. Service was very good with friendly server.

Major Letdown - Edit
When we arrived, we were told the kitchen was 45 minutes behind and there was no point in seating us. We wandered the shops nearby for about 20 minutes and got the call that our table was available. We were super excited to have vegan crepes while vacationing on the Oregon Coast. Sadly, the cooks couldn't figure out how to make the vegan crepe batter - we could hear the entire conversation from our table since the place is very small and open. We settled for scrambles with potatoes in place of eggs (they were also out of those, not that we wanted eggs anyway, but vegetarians hoping for a scramble would be out of luck). We tried three different scrambles, all of which were burnt and unseasoned. The Oregonian had gravy which helped a bit but the meal was severely disappointing. We ate as much as we could stomach for enough energy to drive the 20 minutes back to our rental and scurried off. They closed down the restaurant shortly after seating us (an hour before listed closing time), and the "boutique" had a handful of local art and some broken kitchen equipment taking up most of the space. We had high hopes and were severely disappointed in the entire experience. Would not recommend to anyone, vegan or otherwise.
Read morePros: Polite staff., Might be readjusting post-pandemic., Entirely vegetarian restaurant in small town.

Hi, I know its been a couple years, but wanted to reach out to apologize for your experience. We went through two very challenging years after opening Zest as our second restaurant just 6 weeks before the pandemic. We have since closed our other business and fully remodeled Zest to remedy our severely limited storage and refridgeration space, which is why we used to run out of things all the time. If you are able to make it back to give us another try I would love to get your meal on us to make up for your experiencing our growing pains. We have come along way in the last year!
