Wide variety of options for a night traveling through Austin - Edit
They have LOTS of options which is super nice. I got the vegan Diablo taco and half size animal fries . My partner got the imposter taco salad. He absolutely loved his salad especially because the “fish” was made of mushrooms vs imitation meat. My taco was so tasty! Great balance of flavors. Not spicy at all though ( unless you think Tajín level is spicy) but it was so tasty I didn’t care and really enjoyed it. The fries I have mixed feelings about. The fries themselves felt heavy/greasy but the bigger issue was the “animal style” . To be fair when you label it animal style I thought like In-N-Out dupe and it was definitely NOT that. I’m not holding that against them in the rating b/ maybe that’s just me/my problem but heads up. That being said the red opinions and cheese sauce felt oily so along with the heavy fries it was just a lot. Would go back but I think I would just get two tacos instead. I do think the pricing is high. Almost $20 for a processed burger and standard fries? $7 on their menu but over $8 on takeout for a single taco? And I know I know vegan ingredients can be more expensive but we have our regular place in Austin with faux vegan products that are cheaper.

Got the Yellow City Burger with Impossible patty and Fries. Hands down the best vegan burger I've ever had. The flavor of the patty and the perfect grill on it was out of this world.

Closed at 4pm today, no prior notice. - Edit
After arriving today, from Sun City, AZ, at 4:11pm, I was informed that the restaurant closed at 4pm. He didn't seem too concerned with my disappointment. Oh well.

So sorry to hear this! We've had some staffing issues recently..wonder if the unexpected closing was related. Our apologies, our memories can't recall what that specific half day was for. Anytime we have a unexpected close, we post that morning to our social media pages (ig is our main one). But again, we sincerely apologize for that happening.

Mushroom bowl is the bomb - Edit
While visiting family, we ate there three times as the vegan options are few in Amarillo. The food was consistent each time. There is a slightly longer wait which is clearly marked by signage due to the freshness of the items prepared. We are newer to vegan dining so we had questions and would have appreciated a bit more understanding navigating their delicious options. We will be back as their options are vegan and non-vegan. Thank you for creating a wonderful dining experience where our family can also eat there as well.

Shared Fryer - Edit
They have an extensive vegan menu, which is good, but they share a fryer. The only 2 things they had that don't go in the fryer were a quiche and a salad. I don't like quiche, so salad it was. There may have been an Impossible burger that didn't go in the fryer, but I don't eat Impossible. The veggie burger that wasn't Impossible goes in the fryer. We should have just left. I regret that we didn't. Now we'll have to add a convenience store trip so I can get a bag of potato chips or nuts. This was an extremely disappointing visit. I did email the day before, but no one answered.
Read morePros: Has vegan options.
Cons: Cross-contamination because of shared fryer., Almost all vegan options go in the shared fryer. , No offer to pan fry a burger; no good options.

YCSF was an amazing find! Last year, we were on a road trip that passed through Amarillo. I was skeptical about finding good vegan fare in cattle country and would have settled for anything. Their online menu showed an impossible burger, so I thought that would have to do.
Read moreBut when we walked into the restaurant, almost everything on the menu was vegan. My husband had the vegan carnitas tacos, which I think were made with impossible plant based meat products. I had the Imposter Tacos, which were made with mushrooms instead of faux meat.
Everything was delicious! The food was hand made on site, to order, fresh. The staff was cheerful and professional. The dining room was casual with some fun decor. Last but not least, the bathrooms were clean.
Today, we're on another road trip taking us through Amarillo. We made a point to eat lunch at YCSF again. It was just as good as I remember. This time my husband ordered the Imposter Tacos. I had the Dragon Tofu Tacos. Sorry, no photos. I was so hungry and the tacos were so delicious!
Highly recommend!
Pros: Lots of vegan options, clearly labeled , Made to order with fresh ingredients , Clean and friendly
Cons: Not open every day. Closes early on Saturday., Check they're open before you go.

Fresh and Delicious Vegan - Edit
The recipes are creative and delicious, and it was an unexpected treat to find such good vegan food in a city known for beef. We had the Dragon Tofu Taco, the daily special Roasted Cauliflower Taco, and two side salads. The tacos were original, creative, and most delicious. I was impressed the the thoughtfulness and care that went into the recipes and preparation. The salads were beautiful and fresh, and the house made dressing was delicious. Two tacos and two salads was plenty of food for two people. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, helping us make the best selections and feel welcome the whole time. I would definitely eat here again.
Read moreOne year later: We had to eat here on our way thru to NM. We had the dynamite tofu taco salad, the imposter taco salad, and two thai cauliflower tacos. The salads were fresh and large and included spring mix, romaine, and cabbage. Everything was served hot and tasted delicious. The cauliflower was a bit salty from the tamari, but still delicious. The tacos were large, and the local tortillas were tasty and fluffy.

If I could give 5 stars, I would! I had the vegan pancake bowl with vegan chorizo, vegan egg, vegan hollandaise, veggies, and maple syrup. It was an explosion of decadent flavors—available at Sunday Brunch. My husband (not vegan) had the (not vegan) chicken & waffles. Friendly staff, chill vibe.

The mix of vegan and non vegan food was what made us stop here. I’m vegan and the rest of my family isn’t. We all left full and happy. The animal style fries alone are worth the stop. We were passing through and I’m very happy we found this place right off I 40.

I wish I could give a better rating - Edit
Let me start out by saying this: I hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants. I understand there are good days and bad days, but my experience here has left me with such a strong impression I felt I needed to add it to the collective review sphere. Now for the review. My husband and I were very excited to try this place out after reading all the positive reviews, and although there were some positive aspects of our visit it was not enough to make up for our food experience. Let’s start with the positive. They have a pretty good number of options for vegans to choose from. Several tacos, several burgers, a couple appetizers. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was laid back. The CONS: My husband and I got the Vegan Carnitas tacos, the mushroom tacos, and the animal fries. My carnitas tacos, although flavorful, were WAY over seasoned. After trying one bite of mine my husband said if he were me he would throw the rest away. Since I was very hungry I washed the rest of my tacos down with a LOT of water, but the acidity was still enough to leave a burning feeling in my mouth. Now mushrooms are not my jam so I cannot really comment without being biased about his, but my husband who loves mushrooms and normally would have the appetite to eat four of these sized tacos ate half of one taco and threw the rest away. Our animal fries were good (it would be hard to mess this one up), so we ate all of that, but after continuing on with the rest of our 10 hour road trip a few hours after eating I started getting really intense pain in my intestines-like there was a knife passing through there. The sensation eventually passed, but the gas that stayed with me all through the rest of the drive and through the night was almost unbearable. On top of all that, the food was rather expensive, there’s certainly better ways I could spend $40 than to have gotten this experience. Perhaps this was an off day for this restaurant since there were so many other positive reviews but personally if I were going through Amarillo again I’d look somewhere else for food.

Oh no, we're so sorry to hear some of your food was over-seasoned. We always want to provide a great experience for people. Definitely let an establishment know of any issues when dining in- we're always more than happy to help! We would've definitely made you new food or issued a refund. We truly hate to hear of any bad experiences. So happy to hear the vegan animal fries were great and the staff was very friendly. :)

Vegan options are mindfully done and not simply a dish of omission. Have never tried anything here that I didn’t like. Daily specials alternate so you can be sure to walk in with menu staples and other daily surprises.

Excellent vegan options - Edit
Respite among an otherwise meat focused region. Deliciousness - dragon tofu taco is immediate favorite. Vegan shrimp and vegan carnitas tacos are also top-notch. We had the rotating vegan side of carrots with Sunflower cream, tahini, squash miso, topped with granola and it was next-level lick-the-plate good. It's quality and plating were high cuisine.

Amazing - Edit
Stopped at YCSF while driving cross country- and was extremely happy to come across a place with such amazing vegan options. Had daily specials as well. Such creative options- not the typical stuff you find on the road having to make omissions in order to make an item vegan. Wasn’t sure about one taco per order, but they were pretty large and very filling, with super thick locally made tortillas. Staff was kind and knowledgeable as well. 10/10 recommend!

We were passing through & arrived as they were closing so I asked for any other vegan options in the area. He gave some suggestions but then said to wait a minute. He came back & said the chef would make an exception & allow us to order. We were so grateful for their kindness. I had the dragon taco & the imposter taco and both were excellent. My husband had the veggie burger & we shared the garlic parmesan & animal fries. Everything was so tasty & delicious. The staff went above & beyond for us and were so friendly. We would give them.a 5 rating.
