"Eindelijk een vegan restaurant met een uitgebreide en gevarieerde kaart. Alles 100% vegan en eindelijk eens niet na hoeven denken over de gebruikte ingrediënten op de menukaart. Mijn echtgenote is vegan en ik niet, maar bij een restaurantkeuze screen ik altijd eerst de menukaart om te zien of er voor haar ook iets fatsoenlijks te eten valt (en dan niet een salade, pokebowl of vegetarische burger). Bij Waku Waku aan keuzes geen gebrek. Ik denk dat we hier zeker nog 4 x langs moeten, om andere gerechten te komen proeven. Vegan of niet, iedereen kan hier heerlijk en onbezorgd komen eten en drinken. De bitterballen zijn trouwens meer dan geweldig lekker!"

Enjoyed a wonderful meal here after a long enough cycle from Nijmegen on a winters day. Elegant and tastefully decorated making it an attractive option for newbies to the vegan scene. Certainly a premier option.

I wouldn't be able to eat here every day because of the price, but if you are after a more fine dining experience for a treat or for a special meal, I would definitely go here every single time. Mind you it is not really expensive compared to other restaurants in the Netherlands.

Place is quite big but has a good lay-out so doesn’t come across as too massive. Appealingly decorated. Best to make reservations because it tends to fill up. Food is good. Especially the cheese! Platter is a bit pricy for its size but it was the best fake cheese I ever had. Definitely worth the try if you used to be a cheese lover😉also really enjoyed the wine. Tables are a bit close together, I sometimes got distracted by my neighbours’ conversation.

The Utrecht vegan flagship restaurant. Ultra modern interior, sophisticated but not pretentious atmosphere with a menu full of unique marquee dishes and twists on Dutch classics. We shared the delicately coated bitterballen served with an addictively tongue banging mustard. Most main courses are at the €15 to €20 mark but ooze in both quality and quantity. The Peking Luck was a delicious interpretation of a typical Chinese dish topped with salad with a bed of sweet potato fries and succulent pieces of seitan duck. A main dish of truffle spaghetti was also quite divine. Waku Waku is a serious place delivering some of the best vegan food in town.

Great but busy vegan food in downtown Utrecht - Edit
Great vegan-only food, kind staff, just across the street from TivoliVredenburg concert venue. Can be very busy, so make sure you made a reservation (easy on their website). Sometimes it takes a while before your ordered food is served when the place is fully booked. Nevertheless, this is one of Utrecht's best (vegan) restaurants.

I really enjoyed eating at this place, it was the first time I could eat a kapsalon! Even though the food on the menu is fast food inspired the tastes are refined and the food is not too greasy. I also got plenty of salad.

We went to this place convinced by the pictures on HappyCow showing the menu with dumplings, bao’s and Peking duck. Unfortunately, none of those are at the menu anymore.

Cozy restaurant just in front of the Tivoli Vredenburg concert hall. The restaurant is 100% fully vegan and plant based.

Been there for dinner and for lunch. Had the chorizo and kofte sandwich, both we did not like very much. Flavour was a bit blend, just not Very special. Their sweet potato Fries are very good though. Not very healthy (like their kapsalon, which is really good), so makes you feel a bit gross afterwards (which you can expect after eating junkfood)

I had dinner here with a few friends, and we tried the double dutch kapsalon and the indian curry fajita. The double dutch was not only tasty, it also very appealing for the eye. Both the taste as well as the presentation of the curry were very nice. Futhermore, the staff was very friendly, I would suggest this place to my vegan friends, as it is also fully vegan.

Read moreHowever, the iced tea was tasteless and the waitress brought us plastic straws (that she had apparently forgotten to put in the glasses) that she threw in the glasses without even asking us. Using plastic straws at a vegan restaurant is the definition of hypocracy!
We had a burger (bun and patty were very dry, the table was full of crumbs), the coleslaw that came with it was horrible. The Kapsalon was nice but not outstanding.
All in all a mediocre experience, wouldn't go again.
