Great Vegan Menu - Edit
If you ask for the vegan menu it has plenty of options. I got the Cauliflower Steak and it was delicious, loads of flavour.

Vegan steak - avoid - Edit
We've been here a few times over the last few years. This is the last time. Food for my "in house Vegan steak" was awful. More like a nut roast, very dry and tasteless. Salad not dressed, basically I paid £17 for some chips. They did reduce the price to 8.50 still expensive chips.

Great vegan pub food - Edit
The dirty bottles has a very wide selection of vegan options. It is typical pub food made vegan, so expect more comfort food than fine dining.
Read moreI went for the black bean and chickpea hot dog and was not disappointed. I'd recommend booking in advance, especially at the weekend. Bonus points for being dog friendly.
Pros: Plenty of options, Good service, Good location

Just OK - Edit
The starter of the tempura cauliflower was lovely but the mains were disappointing. I'd been a few years ago where there were better choices (I'd had a vegan thai curry). Now there is no seperate vegan menu and I had the tofu kebab which was nice but dry as there is no sauce. My husband had a black bean and chickpea hot dog which was nice. But there was no variety. All mains came with chips and salad.

Excellent spot right by the castle - Edit
Popped in for a lunch after having been to the castle and were very pleasantly surprised. The place is big without feeling too vacuous and the staff were lovely. My partner and I both had the nachos which were enormous, particularly for the price! They had a really good number of vegan options (for the area at least) - definitely seems like the place to go in Alnwick for vegan fare.

Fabulous food, excellent welcome - Edit
There were enough choices with interesting flavours. Miso and lemon infused cauliflower steak was really tasty. Spicy black bean burger was phenomenal. Really good burger, seemed homemade and had real depth of flavour. The vegan brownie was fab and nice to have vegan I've cream AND vegan chocolate sauce
Read moreWe were welcomed warmly and shown to our table even though we were early and the venue hadn't yet fully opened for the day. Swift service with affable delivery and professional politeness.
The only suggestion we could make would be to add a vegan option or two to the children's menu.
Pros: Good range of vegan choices, Superb pudding, Interesting flavours not your usual vegan options
Cons: No vegan choice on kids menu

Great food - Edit
Stopped on way home from a trip for lunch. Waiting staff really knowledgeable. Several vegan options incl one of the daily specials. Opted for baguette. Full of tasty roasted Mediterranean veg. Skin on fries , salad and a tasty salsa replaced the coleslaw. Will definitely return again.

Good Vegan Choice - Edit
Now a mixed menu but the waiting crew were fully up to date even asking if we ate honey as some vegetables were tossed in honey.
Read moreWe had soup and sourdough bread, potato skins, loaded nachos (with refried beans, jalapeño, melted cheese, guacamole and a vegan sour cream) and a spicy black bean burger. All served quickly with a nice amount of attention from the staff.
This was followed by warm Chocolate Brownie with Ice Cream.
All was really nice. I don’t know my favourite bit, it was all really good.
Pros: Enough Vegan choice, Attentive staff, Good flavourful foods.
Cons: No Sunday Lunch Vegan version

A great place - Edit
The dirty bottles had a few different options and the staff were very knowledgeable about ingredients and what could be changed to make things vegan.
Read moreFor starters we shared the tempura cauliflower with chilli sauce which was so tasty. The portion was small though, which the staff acknowledged before we did and took money off the bill - very lovely!
Then for mains, I got the spicy black bean burger with chips. The burger was so delicious and was dressed perfectly, it all went together so well. The actual patty was a bit messy as it fell apart.
Although the onion rings weren’t labelled vegan, the staff made sure they were cooked in the vegan oil which made them suitable for vegans!
Pros: Lots of different options, Friendly staff - helpful , Delicious food

Tasty with large portions - Edit
As of now, they've combined the vegan and regular menu. There's vegan appetizers like loaded nachos and soup with bread. Some good lunch options. And, for dinner, I had a butter bean veggie burger with chips (fries), though they had a couple other options. I got the only dessert they had: a chocolate brownie. Everything was super tasty and the portions were large! I also enjoyed a non-alcoholic cocktail! Very cute place and lovely atmosphere.

Not great - Edit
We ordered two vegan starters, in which the croquettes arrived still frozen inside and the jackfruit nachos were very odd- just plain tinned bits of jackfruit, gherkins and lettuce scattered over tortilla chips with a sweet chilli sauce.
Read moreWe sent the croquettes back and the staff were very apologetic and asked the kitchen to make another one and didn’t charge us for it. The second batch of croquettes were hot but bland.
Our mains: my partner ordered the miso and lemon glazed cauliflower steak but couldn’t eat it as it was way too salty. The cauliflower was coated in pure miso which made it inedible. The staff, again, apologised and took it back to the kitchen. There was some explanation that it was a different brand of miso. We just think the kitchen needs to taste the food they are sending out. The other mains were ok but not great.
Pros: Dedicated vegan menu, Nice staff, Nice venue
Cons: Mediocre food, Poorly cooked starter, Inedible over seasoned main

Bit of a let down - Edit
Was looking forward to a nice meal here but was let down for a few reasons, we first ordered two soy lattes however when we gave them a try we noticed that the milk had gone sour, the panini that we ordered from the ‘vegan’ menu then arrived with coleslaw which we checked with the waitress if it was vegan just to be sure, to then find out that it in fact was not vegan (wouldn’t have been a problem if it wasn’t on the vegan menu) however cannot fault the staff as they where all very friendly and accommodating.

Lovely atmosphere & great vegan range - Edit
Good wheelchair access, dog friendly, & there is a great range of vegan food.
Read moreYou can opt for an all time classic such as 3 bean chilli, nachos, & bean burgers or go for something a bit more modern and interesting like cauliflower steak.
Very generous portions and great customer-oriented staff.
They also have separate vegan menus so it made it easier to pick a meal without having to scan through the other dead menu items.
Watch out for cow's milk on the cocktails though!
