It's a nice shop in a nice town - Edit
This is a nice shop selling nice things in a lovely little town in beautiful Northumberland. It's shops and towns like these that make rural places a treat to visit. I thought I’d update my review after 12 years as quite a lot has improved since then. The stock consists mainly of fair trade items such as bags, clothing, craft stuff and candles etc. The whole area on the right is dedicated to foodstuffs such as fair trade, organic and vegan chocolates, biscuits, crisps, snacks, condiments, mayonnaise, curry pastes, grains, flours and pulses, tahini, spreads, snacks and dried foods. A reasonably well stocked fridge with V-Bites products, vegan cheeses, tofu, and various meat subsitute products is towards the rear of the store. Fairly well priced but a few things can be quite expensive. I suppose it's the only place in town where you can get such specialist items so you're saving by not traveling to somewhere like Newcastle or Berwick or having to order online. It's definitely worth checking out if in town. Today I picked up some wholewheat digestives, rose harissa paste, a “turkey” style V-Bites roast joint and some chick pea (gram) flour. Absolutely delighted.

The best shop for vegans in the north east - Edit
In this extremely well stocked shop there are so many vegan products - fridge and cupboard foods, cleaning products, bathroom/personal products, clothing, toys, home items and many more (only a few things are veggie - its predominantly vegan and fair trade too). No meat products at all 😀 The owner constantly researches brands so knows the ethical stance behind the stock. There are refills available too so really environmentally friendly. If there is anything I need or would like to try, the owner will always order it in for me and I can bulk order items too - nothing is too much trouble. I completely trust the knowledgeable and very friendly owner. It’s my go-to shop.

Fantastic shop selling pretty much all your vegan essentials including pulses, seeds, spices, herbs, treats, toiletries etc, with a very good chiller section and refill station.
Read moreI picked up a packet of tvna, an Easter egg for my nephew and some reduced vegan chocolate items, whilst my wife and young son bought a heart friendship gift and a flute. Warning:- flutes should not be played in the car on the way home though 😂.
Definitely worth visiting here, if you're in the area.

Nipped here for supplies when we were holidaying in Seahouses. One half of the shop is dedicated to food and whilst the fridge is small it’s absolutely packed with everything you’d need - cheese, bacon, chocolate - I was very happy!
