Very Vegan Friendly - Edit
Been coming here, as well as their sister site in Topeka, for years and never had a bad experience. The food and service are always great. There a few different burger and fry options as well as a rotating selection of monthly specials. Check their website or Facebook page.

Great place!! - Edit
Here we enjoyed a good burger. We had the Garbo & Black Bean burger. We felt the vegan buns were pretty dry. The Black Bean burger had a great salsa on it and was our favorite. The Garbo was a little mushy on a hard bun. Ordered a basket of fries and it was huge!! Definitely share. Unfortunately the polenta fries have cheese in them:( And the spicy shiitake mushroom also has cheese.

Tons of Options - Edit
Burger Stand has a lot of house made veggie burgers and also toutes the Impossible burger. They have great fries and had vegan chili this winter. As of 2020 all veggie burgers are served with the vegan bun by default. They also have a deal after 10pm for a $5 burger basket. It’s vegan if you get either the black bean or Garbo.
Read morePros: Mostly made in house, Vegan mayo, Tofu fries
Cons: Pricey unless it’s Veg Monday or after 10pm, No vegan cheese , Wish they had vegan shakes

New and improved vegan buns - Edit
The garbo burger is my favorite! Ask for extra vegan aoli and use it for a dip for your French fries. They recently got a new brand of vegan buns that are a million times better than the old ones. They cook veggies burgers on the same grill and the fries in the same oil as meat, so avoid if you are picky about cross contamination.

Great beer selection and vegan burgers - Edit
The Burger Stand has several housemade vegetarian burgers that can be made vegan. Most of the regular menu burgers have dairy-based condiments and toppings, and almost all of the options at the condiment bar are dairy-based, but you can ask for vegan mayo. Be sure to request a vegan bun; the standard has an egg wash.
Read moreOne plus at the Lawrence location is that they have tofu fries. I like these smoked with the chipotle-cocoa ketchup. Another is the Garbo Monday deal where you can get a garbanzo bean patty on any of their regular burgers for $5. I like the fire burger since it comes standard with avocado and no dairy toppings. Good draft beer selection, too.
Also a good place to go to with non-veg friends and family.
Pros: tofu fries, housemade vegan burger patties, good beer and pub atmosphere
Cons: no burger on menu is vegan by default, upcharges for vegan buns and substitute toppings, limited vegan condiments

Expensive - Edit
Waited 30 minutes for my to-go burger because they took my name down as Anton instead of Angela. It was cold by the time I bit into it and left something to be desired but it could be tasty warm. It was $19 for my burger, vegan bun, fries and a drink so I won’t be back to see if that’s the case.

Good place to go with non-veg friends - Edit
This place is a crowd favorite. It’s a great place to go with non-veg friends. They have several veggie burgers that can be modified to be vegan. They also have a vegan bun you can get (unfortunately for a few extra dollars).

No fries, no fun. - Edit
This place used to be awesome as a non-vegan, so when I saw that they had plant-based options, I was thrilled. Unfortunately, the excitement soon faded. To "veganize" the burgers you're going to pay a ton more. For example: it's an extra $2 for a bun. Also, my husband and I tried to order the fries but the lady behind the counter clearly opposed that we get them because all the fries are cooked in the same oil as the raw chicken. The result? Plain-Jane, $10 veggie burger with ketchup (because nearly all the sauces had dairy).

Great place to get a burger - Edit
This place has several vegan burger options (just be sure to ask to make it vegan--they switch out the bun and omit cheese/sauces as needed) and a couple choices for sides.
Read moreIt's located downtown and can get kind of busy and crowded, but we've always been able to find a seat, even with a massive stroller. There's free 2-hour garage parking nearby.
Pros: Several vegan options!, Good for groups with picky non-vegans
Cons: No vegan milkshakes

Good vegan burger options! - Edit
Beware, though, if you're both vegan and gluten-free. They have gluten-free buns that aren't vegan and vegan buns that aren't gluten free. But they do have an option to turn any burger into a salad, so if you're both vegan and GF, that's an option for you. Their fries and their sweet potato fries are both vegan, and they have delicious spicy dill pickles by the condiments! They also (as of August 2016) have a BBQ dipping sauce and a ketchup at the condiment bar that are both vegan.
