Great vegetarian food - Edit
From the name we thought this was going to be run by an ex pat serving English food but how wrong could we be! It isn’t a vegetarian restaurant so we can’t give 5 stars but it has a separate vegetarian menu with a good range of options. The meze was excellent and served 2 people, and the lentil soup and the moussaka were delicious. Egyptian owner speaks very good English, understands clearly what vegetarian and vegan means (in other words, food won’t contain chicken or fish stock etc) and will happily chat to you about all things Egyptian if the restaurant is not too busy. Overall very good value for money.

Really tasty and flavorful - Edit
We had an assortment of appetizers, and soup—all was delicious! The owner is very friendly and said he will make anything on the vegetarian menu vegan. He mentioned now even carrying vegan mince to use in dishes. Mulligatawny soup was outstanding!

We love it - Edit
Snobs Restaurant in Luxor, is a space that receives vegans very well and has delicious food.
Read moreToday we had a birthday in our group and they made us vegan cake with festivities. It was an incredible experience. We were happy and grateful.
From the entrance, we noticed the care in making the soup without ingredients of animal origin for vegans, and it was very good.
Mussaka, amazing, was my main course. The friends ordered vegetable curry, penne, hommus, salads and everyone liked it a lot.
I would like to give it 5 stars, but it is not allowed, so I strongly recommend this lovely place.
Pros: Amazing food, Great service

Vegan-friendly Egyptian Eats - Edit
Found this restaurant on Happy Cow. Server (owner?) brought over the vegetarian menu upon request and knew exactly what vegan meant… which hasn’t been a common occurrence in Egypt! A small selection of vegan offerings but it was nice to know what I was eating was truly plant-based. Enjoyed the mezze platter, falafel, and vegetable tagine!

Amazing place for veggie and vegan options! - Edit
I would give 5 stars if I could. I went here one evening we had free while on a tour. We needed to be in-and-out within an hour. I told the friendly staff when we arrived that we would need to be quick and that we were vegan, and they were brilliant to accomodate. Within 30 mins we had ordered our food and got a meal with plenty for 2 people. We were given their okra tagine and it was my favourite - very rich and tasty.

Excellent food and friendly owner - Edit
We walked to this restaurant in about 5 minutes from our Steinerberger Nile Palace hotel. Although there are fewer options for fully vegan food (no dairy, no meat broth), the waiter and owner helped us pick out items that were outstanding in taste. We are being very cautious in Egypt about avoiding foods that have not been cooked at high temperature and we were able to meet this criteria also. We had lentil soup (among the best I have ever had) and a fully vegan meal cooked in a clay pot and contained carrots, potatoes, onion, etc, served over rice. We also had two types of bread, bottled water, non alcoholic beer — for 2 people it was $16 USD. The owner is very friendly and not at all pushy about upselling you. We had a great time talking with him about the 18 years he has owned the business and in general. You will not regret going here.

Limited veg options, long wait, colonial vibes - Edit
Two stars is a bit generous but I’m hopeful that this was a one-off situation… when I sat down and asked if there is a vegetarian menu (as mentioned in other happy cow & Google reviews), waiter said it’s all on main menu now. There are vegan options in appetizer section so I ordered the hommos and asked if there is a vegetarian entre he would recommend. He said that he would talk to the kitchen and surprise me with something.
Read moreThen I waited 29 minutes for the hommos to arrive. At 25 minutes, the waiter came by to apologize. Hommos was nothing special; the bread clearly had been baked some time ago and was not fresh but not terrible.
Then I waited for my surprise entré. 50 minutes after ordering, I asked waiter to make it takeaway since at this point I was no longer enjoying the ambiance. Entré arrived 61 minutes after ordering; it was a couple potato & vegetable croquettes plus a portion of canned vegetables.
I am hoping the long wait was an isolated experience. The limited vegetarian/vegan options seemed to be the standard though.
One last bit of context: this restaurant seems to transport you back in time to Egypt’s colonial era. Roaring 20’s background music, colonial-era art, and the fact that the only other diners were white tourists (primarily British) gave this restaurant an interesting vibe. Excellent if that’s what you’re looking for, but it felt a bit uncomfortable for me.

Pros: A/C, Fast wifi, Kind waiters

Oasis in Luxor - Edit
This place was our little (though the restaurant is very big) oasis in Luxor. The food was good and the portions were big, the atmosphere and the interior are lovely, the owner was kind and nice. There are tipical vegan meals available that are often found in Egypt as falafel, humus, babaganuah... Inside is acclimated and peaceful which was a nice change from the crowded and hot streets of Luxor. I definitely recommend this place and their lentil soup as well as mango juice are a must try if you are there😄
