Nice restaurant - Edit
It’s a touristy place but the food is good, the personell friendly and the atmosphere is nice. Good selection of mezze, good flavours and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. For mains the moussaka is vegan and nice. No alcohol is served, they do have nice teas and fresh fruit juices.

Got meat served - Edit
We ordered meze indicating vegan. But noticed we got meat balls on the plate. They fixed it and excused for it. Nevertheless big disappointment.

The best food in Luxor. No doubt about it. - Edit
I would give 5 stars if I could. Everything was superb. Everything we ate was super delicious, even the bread was brought warm to us which was amazing. Hummus had a original and great taste. The best was the eggplant mousaka. It was in a small iron saucepan - still boiling on our table which was nice to see - it tasted even better. Lentil soup was amazing, great seasoning and flavour. Toilets are also super clean and fancy, just overall great experience. The staff knows English very well and is familiar with vegan kitchen. Big thumbs up.

Relaxed with nice seating - Edit
They are knowledgeable about veganism and have a nice atmosphere, which is attentive but relaxed. Great place to kill some time before your train from Luxor Station, which is a few minutes walk away.
Read morePrices a tiny bit higher than elsewhere, the food was good but we had better for cheaper elsewhere in Egypt. The spiced Turkish coffee is delicious as are their many fresh juices. : )

Beautiful - Edit
Great atmosphere, but seems understaffed. The food is quite potent and I loved my fresh guava juice, but the aubergine and tomato was drowning in oil. They quickly took it back and remade it, though I wish they would have asked me first because I maybe would have ordered something else. This place also serves veal and such so- meh. I don’t love it, but the staff was really friendly and I didn’t have to pay the meal even after they remade it. Also, they kept saying vegetarian instead of vegan when referring to me. I continued correcting them, but maybe they don’t know the difference. Caution there to ask all the ingredients.

A big disappointment - Edit
Went because of other reviews that indicated good vegan options. Yes, they did have vegan options, but the food was maybe the least enjoyable one I've had in Egypt.
Read moreThe falafel was super oily, the mahsha (vegetables stuffed with rice) was cold and the rice was hard, the baked sweet potatoes were also cold and lacked in flavor, the mango juice was watered down, the tahina was so watery that it dripped all over the table and myself as I dipped something and tried bringing it to my mouth.
Service was friendly, but extremely slow.
I wouldn't recommend it at all.
Pros: Some vegan options
Cons: Cold food, slow service

Amazing 5 stars!! - Edit
LOVE this place! If you are staying in Luxor it is a must. I’d give it 5 stars if I could (can’t because it’s not full vegan). Has plenty of options including beans, stuffed vegetables, hummus, falafels, etc. Service is very friendly! We came here to eat vegan daily.

Beautiful restaurant with a lot of vegan options - Edit
I've been eating really unhealthy since arriving in Egypt. The vegan options are usually fried in old oil and very oily. Koshari is OK, but also not healthy. Fresh fruit and vegetable are not so popular, so finding this restaurant was like an oasis in the desert. I had a delicious lentil soup (with a lot of garlic), a moussaka tajine with white and brown rice and fresh melon juice. They were all very yummy. The prices are not so bad for Europeans, unless you're a backpacker in a budget. The restaurant is beautifuly decorated.

This restaurant is wonderful :) - Edit
Sofra is a wonderful gem of a restaurant in Luxor. We have eaten here almost every day and we feel at home here in this comfortable and cozy atmosphere with a friendly and welcoming staff😄
Read moreThe food is some of the best we have had in Egypt and there are many vegan options on the menu. The best being the khodar makly, betingan bil tom, and course all the classics like falafel (ta’miya), hummus (homos bil tahina), tahini (tahina bil bakdoonis), baba ghanough, and the wonderful little dolmas / grape leaf rolls (khodar mahshi) :)
We highly recommend this lovely restaurant😄
Pros: Many vegan options, Clean, professional, good atmosphere, Delicious food
Cons: Not vegan but what can you expect in Egypt?

Ok, nothing special - Edit
I arrived about 6pm on a Tuesday night. Doors wide open and nobody there. I rang the doorbell and still nothing. Took a seat anyway and about 10 minutes later a waiter showed up. I ordered 3 small plates... 1 hot and 2 cold. The hummus was a bit spicy and chunky. The white cheese dip with fennel was very salty. The hot plate was a few small vegetables and grape leaves stuffed with rice. All of it average and forgettable.

Lots of small plate options and a couple of mains. Staff were very friendly, food was all good, although the stuffed aubergines were a little too garlicky for me

Nice ambience upstairs, which is a covered, semi open terrace.

Pros: Good range of vegan options in the mezze plates, Nice location if you're sitting upstairs
