Co-op member here

The Co-op is good about vegan food but not yet great. They recently moved their vegan refrigerated foods to a cabinet just for vegan food. That was a good call, and I'm hoping it will encourage them to continue to increase their vegan offerings. It's a tiny store with a very large health and beauty section.

The Co-op also has a cabinet for deli items, though it's rare to find anything vegan in there, and the locally prepared food is expensive.

I've been a member of the Co-op for many years and most appreciate their vegetable section, as most items are organic or at least no-spray, and many of these beautiful foods are local. I have sold my apples and avocados to the Co-op, which are never exposed to poison, but I can't call my produce "organic" because ORGANIC has a specific legal definition. I'll also have chayotes and oranges for them next year. I appreciate that they take produce from locals.

The Co-op also puts out a regular email newsletter that highlights this or that fruit/vegetable and almost always has at least one vegan recipe.

Pros: very good selection of vegan produce, nice, friendly, helpful staff, right near my house

Cons: would love more vegan products, such as pie crusts

Beautiful Produce and Vegan Selection

The SLO Food Co-op perfectly met our needs, coming home from vacation. We were able to do our shopping for the week with a beautiful selection of local produce, fresh breads, vegan dairy, tofu, and all our staples, at fair prices. The staff were friendly and a sign read that a personal shopper is available for any reason.

Great Products and Service!

A cute, small(ish) place just outside downtown SLO. It's definitely worth the extra minute to save money, as opposed to Whole Foods. The workers are extremely helpful and they know their stuff! They have drinks, produce, supplements, snacks and beauty products. I'm definitely going back!

Pros: Great service, lots of options

Cons: outside of main streets

Nice little store

Found this while staying in SLO for a month. Clean, friendly and had a great selection. My favorite place to shop while here.

Pros: fresh fruits and veges were great, not overly expensive for a small store

Love at first sight

Man do I wish I lived near a co-op like this one. If you are in San Luis Obispo or even driving though town, most definitely make it a point to stop and shop!!

Amazing prices on high quality food and natural products. Dream come true bulk sections. Warm, genuine staff... and so much more.

It's moved recently, but it's literally just down the street from the address listed here and there's a sign on their old location with the new address. It looks like they've massively expanded judging by the old location compared to the new--- Job well done!

Pros: bulk soap and shampoos! , great prices!, authentic vibe

Excellent for supplies

This was a great find in a town where I couldn't find fruit anywhere, except for the farmer's market once a week. Came here and there was so much delicious organic fruit at good prices so I am happy again, yay!!! There are also extensive, quality organic supplies for whatever you might want to make in your kitchen (grains, beans, nuts etc) lots of vegan products (cheese, yoghurt, mock meats, ice creams etc) all at good prices. And the service was friendly too!

Pros: bought a lot of food for only $22, friendly and helpful, fresh fruit was delicious

Cons: it's about 30 mins walk from downtown

The Real Deal

This is a real coop. It's small. It's funky and it has integrity. Most items are in bulk and everything there has been carefully selected for quality and company integrity. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. No yuppie gourment anything. Real food, real people, the real deal.

Pros: integrity, helpful staff, low prices

Cons: small
