Phenomenally Good!!! - Edit
If you are anywhere near San Luis Obispo you can't miss the Jewel of India. The food is amazingly delicious and prepared with love. There is a Vegetarian page on the menu with dozens of Vegan dishes which are marked. According to the owner all food is cooked with sunflower oil, not ghee. It is cooked to order in traditional cast iron, never in a fryer, and never with used oil. A majority of the produce is organic. All chutneys and ingredients are made by them. That said, the tastes of each dish are complex and deeply flavorful. I wish I had gotten more pictures but we were so ravenous that I forgot. We had the Vegetable Jalfrezzi -- deliciously nuanced, Dal Moong -- one of the best we've ever had, Saag Potato -- classic, Garlic Naan, and Vegetable Pakoras. I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu.

Great Indian food - Edit
We ate here with 5 vegans (3 teens) and we all loved the variety and options they had. I recommend this place.

So many delicious vegan options - Edit
There were so many “veganizable” options marked on the menu and the server was helpful in making sure the items were vegan. The dum aloo - medium spice- I was spicy and delicious. The onion bhaji was yummy and I loved the garlic onion naan.

Very good! - Edit
As someone who has spent the better part of 7 years living in India I would say this is excellent North Indian food. The spices and textures were wonderful. Another plus would be the food felt cleaner than most Indian food. If you're sensitive in any way to spice go with mild as the medium was just on the edge for me. It would be a 5 but happycow does not allow at for non veg.

Cons: More items can possibly be vaganized

AMAZING - Edit
Okay, this is not an overreaction this is the Best Indian food I have had outside of India! And honestly better than some places in India. AMAZING. so flavorful and they have a good selection of things that can be made vegan. Plus the family that owns the restaurant and cooks the food are such nice people. I would give it 5 stars if happy cow let me. It is spicy though so if you're not used to Indian spice I suggest letting them know. Oh, and it actually feels good after eating it like it's nutritious and not to oily like I often feel Indian food can be in the US, it is made fresh and has fresh ingredients.

Several vegan options - Edit
Menu outside listed many items this vegan could try, but it also said closed Tuesday, so I was surprised that they were open on Christmas Eve. They had the buffet up, so I asked vegan options. No labels, but I was directed to a chana masala (chick peas), and a few others, which looked like a spinach dish, and two kinds of daal (one was very spicy, all others were mild). Basmati rice of course, and the fresh naan was served without butter. All for only $11.50 plus tax and tip. Very pleasant atmosphere, but then I was the only customer, so I enjoyed the tranquility.

Great Indian food - Edit
Vegetarian section of the menu has labels for many dishes which can be made vegan. Appetizer and bread sections do not have these labels but some of the usual items are vegan like samosas and roti. The curries themselves are delicious and there are more vegan curries available than at most places. The portions are not overly large, which is refreshing. The ambiance is nice, and the staff is friendly. I'll definitely be back.

Fancy Indian food - Edit
A very excellent restaurant! All the food was very good and flavorful and I love all the new decorations! They also have a bunch of vegan and vegetarian options which is awesome! It feels like high class Indian food with all the plate switching and fancy metal for the dishes. My only issue was the price for the portions. The curry was quite small for $10 and the rice that comes with the table is also quite small for a whole table. So it kind of forces you to either order more rice or more naan. But other than that, I loved the food and the staff was very friendly and I would definitely come back again!
