Wonderful vegan options

We are fortunate to have a number of Thai restaurants in the San Luis Obispo area, and this is one of the best. The food is delicious, the location is beautiful, and the service is excellent. They even have convenient parking. I would give this place five stars, but Happy Cow reserves that rating for fully vegan restaurants.

Pros: Friendly service, All the sauces can be made vegan, Nice outdoor seating

Cons: Interior could use a refresh

Great Thai Food

I’ve always had a great experience here—probably my favorite Thai food in town. The curry and tofu spring rolls are delicious and the staff are always nice.

Love this thai place

This place is family owned and everything is delicious! The sauces are fresh, not sticky or over sweet, and they often have vegan options, and will accommodate gluten free as well! My favorites are the Buddha Rolls (a fresh, non-friend version of spring rolls without the shrimp!), the Simply Veggie soup, and the Garlic Green Beans. Tonight there was a special or Vegan Pumpkin Curry available which was delicious!

Pros: Some vegan and Lots of Vegetarian options, Really nice family staff , Gluten free options accommodated

Cons: A little loud

Mediocre food- there are better Thai options in SLO.

I tried this place because I was feeling lazy one night and this is one of the few places in town with vegan delivery options. However, the food is not nearly as good as the other Thai options in the area.

I ordered the curry with tofu. Unlike the other places in town that season and fry their tofu before adding it to the curry, this place seems to just chop it up straight from the package and throw it in the curry. The bell peppers were barely cut at all, and overall there were less veggies and tofu in the curry than I've had at other places, so it's not a good value overall.

Their delivery minimum is weirdly priced such that it's difficult to find a combination of items close to the minimum without adding random extras. I paid with a credit card and they basically etched a copy of my card onto a piece of paper rather than using an electronic device, which I found kind of sketchy.

Honestly, there's no reason to go to this place when there are far better Thai places in town with better food and bigger portions for the price. I would recommend Thai Classic or Royal Thai over this place any day.

Pros: Offers delivery

Cons: Unseasoned tofu, Overpriced, Small portions

Excellent Vegan Food

I was sorry to see this restaurant add meat to their menu. They claim that they would have had to close because they weren't getting enough business. I have no doubt this is true as they are in a fairly low traffic area to begin with. That being said, they have some amazing vegan dishes. I love the Pad Thai with tofu and their Mussamun Curry with soy chicken is amazing. The staff is very helpful, and all my experiences at this restaurant have been good ones. Kudos to them for trying to be completely vegan. Too bad there weren't enough vegetarian customers to support that.

No longer 100% vegan

I have decided to remove my endorsement. This used to be a wonderful all vegan restaurant called Vegan Spices. The owners who are not vegan or vegetarian decided to reopen it as a Thai Elephant. They do have vegan options but also serve a full range of meats. I do not care to eat there any longer so I do not know if cross contamination exists or if the food is the same quality it was. The loss of a good vegan restaurant is a sad day.
