Vegan Friendly Options at DEN Airport - Edit
I had a short layover in Denver and was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a take away item so much, normally they lack flavor. I got the Tofu Banh Mi Sandwich.
Read moreI loved the mix of textures, soft bread and tofu with crunchy jalapeño and pickled vegetables and cucumber. The sriracha spread gave it a hint of spice but not too spicy for us babies that can’t handle it. I’d definitely recommend! I ate one half immediately then saved the other for when I landed at my final destination.
Pros: Vegan Friendly Options Labeled and Available, Super Delicious Vegan Sammy and Great Service, Take Away Items Available for Quick Stops
Cons: Not Fully Vegan/Plant-Based, Spendy (It’s the Airport) $17.50 USD

Best airport meal I’ve ever had - Edit
Wow, this is definitely the best airport meal I’ve ever had! I’m so used to eating crappy avocado toast, so this is definitely a diamond in the rough. I got the country friend tofu and it was incredible, totally rich with flavors. I didn’t even have to add hot sauce, which is rare for me! Definitely will eat here whenever I’m at the Denver airport!

Great vegan option at DIA - Edit
Nearly every time I fly out I grab a tofu banh mi sandwich from the grab n go counter, which I am super grateful for. Vegan food is slim pickin's when it comes to grab n go generally, so I am thrilled to eat so well when I'm flying out. Before Root Down, well, set down roots at DIA, we had to settle for a plain bagel with no spread, nothing. Now I get a tofu banh mi!

Country Fried Tofu! - Edit
Do yourself a favor and order the Country Fried Tofu. It didn’t sound like much on the menu, but wow. So flavorful and delicious that I might start flying through Denver on purpose. Wasn’t cheap but was worth it. I’d be shocked if you could find me a better vegan option at the airport.

Pleasant surprise with room for improvement - Edit
Ordered the country fried tofu sandwich. Got a country fried tofu bowl. They told me the sandwich was the bowl. I feel they were thwarting my universal desire for a sandwich on purpose as a penalty for being so handsome?
Read moreAnywho. I went with it. For a vegan tofu bowl in an airport, 11 stars. Or 3 adjusted for regular food. Dish was flavorful and full of good ingredients but wish it has a little more sass.
The tofu was breaded well, just too thick. If it had been half the thickness it would have probably gotten that fourth star
A few more vegan/veganizable items on the menu. Provided they actually exist or you are not too handsome and they desire to squash your food desires.
Pros: Sit down with veg options, Service was quick and friendly, Clean ingredient feel
Cons: Sandwich teases

Fantastic Food - Edit
Never did I expect I’d have one of the best meals in my life at an airport.
Read moreI got the country fried tofu - the menu description was sort of vague. I didn’t really know what to expect, based on past experiences I was guessing some sort of warm tofu with a scoop of lentils and steamed veggies. This is not that.
The dish surpassed all possible expectations. This is such a thoughtful dish- everything on the plate felt complex and fully developed, and each part felt intentionally included to harmonize with everything else. The tofu is only part of the story - substantial pieces with a bite and a crisp exterior with subtle hints of French toast. The plating is so thoughtful. The tofu is kept crisp by sitting atop a bed of slaw, with a creamy curry under the slaw. The slaw is able to both stand up in texture to the warm curry and also insulate the tofu from losing its crispness.
The tofu is accentuated by a jammy tomato-onion chutney that brings citrus, umami, and balances the fried tofu. Freshness is provided in the form of a cool cilantro chutney akin to what you would get with a samosa. Every bite you get a little slaw, some melt-in-your-mouth soft lentils, and the creamy curry. The curry provides a turmeric and cinnamon note that grounds the dish with warmth and comfort and the chutneys keep it light and fresh.
If you are reading this - you owe it to yourself to try this!

Thank you for writing a review of this that perfectly describes my own experience! I lucked out when I picked this off the menu on Friday. The description doesn’t do it justice. So good.

Airport food - Edit
The vegan tofu scramble here isn’t bad. I’ve also had the tofu banh mi to go, and it was eatable. I recommend adding hot sauce. My partner tried the vegan burger here and said it was terrible. YMMV

Very tasty! Country fried tofu - Edit
Excellent brunch item at dia. Good flavours from a vegan option. Would have liked an oil free version but generous serving of fried tofu slabs on a bowl of snow peas, chutney, jalapeños and black lentil curry. Definitely would order again!

Decently priced To-go options are filing. The hummus snack thing is oddly sweet, but there are enough salty things that it’s a bit offset.

Traveling Vegan Oasis! - Edit
It’s a rare and welcome relief to find an airport restaurant with numerous vegan options and educated team members. The masala tofu scramble with extra hot sauce and a perfectly spicy and flavorful pepper gin blossom provided a delicious respite while awaiting my flight from DEN. Thanks Root Down! Just tell them you are vegan when you order.

Sit or take togo - Edit
If you have time for 20 minute wait-list sit down. If not order any of the V menu items togo. Oh, menu does not state vegan or not vegan you have to ask. Request to get the beet salad and remove the goat cheese. And if you want more add a veggie pattie on top.

Fast and filling - Edit
This restaurant is located in Terminal C. I had some time between flights so I chose to do the sit down option. They also have a to-go ordering area that looks like it has limited options. From the other reviews the tofu sandwich sounds like a pretty good option for take away.
Read moreThe sit down menu has breakfast and an all day menu together. Breakfast is served for only the beginning of the day (6am to noon). The rest of the menu is served all day.
The menu has clearly marked vegan options. I chose to do the burger because of the reviews on here and I was not disappointed. The servers also ask you if you have any allergies as well as dietary restrictions.
The burger was huge and very filling. I really liked the bun and the spicy - sweet slaw on top. I got regular fries and they were also really tasty.
It is expensive. I have an airport discount because I'm a pilot, and even then my bill was almost $30 for an iced tea and meal.
Overall it's a good experience and a great place to easily find vegan options.
For cheaper places I would go to Freshins in Terminal A or Garbanzo in Terminal B. If you are in C the to go sandwiches and salads here are an option and not as pricey as the sit down food.
The servers are really friendly and they are really fast!
Pros: Clearly labeled vegan options , Quick service , Single seat tables
Cons: Expensive

Lots more options! - Edit
They must have updated their menu in the last few months. Vegan options are now clearly marked vegan and they’ve added a lot! Veggie burger, ramen, tofu scramble, 2 salads, and coconut milk oats. Plus 2 vegan desserts! I got the veggie burger with sweet potato fries and it’s really good and fresh. Great option while you’re at DIA.

A good hang during a flight delay - Edit
I grabbed dinner here during a flight delay. I sat at the bar. The servers were attentive, efficient, and knowledgeable, and asked about food allergies. The beer list was excellent. Though crowded, as airport restaurants often are, it had an artistic, relaxed vibe. (The bartender didn't mind me lingering over my porter.) I ordered the veggie burger, which was expensive ($26) and pretty average (think Dr. Praeger's), with minimalist fixings. It came with sweet potato waffle fries, which were very good. They were out of the pretzel bun, but the ciabatta bun was good and vegan. There is also a grab-and-go section with delicious smoked tofu sandwiches, which are misdescribed as banh mi.

Big sandwich - Edit
