Hard one - Edit
I was over the moon to try this restaurant. I'd hadn't heard much about it but I loved the concept. First parking is impossible. (at least pre-covid it was) Then when I finally found the place, I couldn't find the actual restaurant. Then it's not really a restaurant, just a few seats around a counter. I thought that if you have to jump through all of these hoops, the food will probably be amazing. The food was fine at best. Nothing stood out or was special. The place was so loud. Ultimately it was just eating OK food and an insanely crowded venue with nowhere and terribly expensive parking that was far away. I'm going to give it another try, but it was rough for me.

great ramen, great appetizers - Edit
Located inside the Grand Central Market and has a ramen bar for sitting at, otherwise you use the communal tables and take it "to-go". The egg isn't interesting aside from the visual factor. The ramen is great, but sometimes the broth is a hit or miss. Highly recommend trying all of their appetizers. Sometimes they allow people who ordered outside food to sit in the bar which is common place in the market, but personally it's absolutely disgusting watching carnists chew down on animal flesh when you're trying to enjoy a nice vegan ramen at a vegan establishment.

Lived up to the hype - Edit
Am I the 100th reviewer?? Whoot whoot!
Read moreI love ramen and this place made my heart sing. Located in a historical urban emporium loaded with food vendors, the atmosphere added to the experience. Given Covid-19, they have a smaller menu and you can't sit "at the bar." We chose the Cold Ass Noodles (does not have broth), Garlic Ramen (requested a spicy base), OG Ramen, Togarashi Tater Tots, Avocado Toast, Vegan Egg, and Bahn Mi Poutine.
Our 3 ramen dishes were amazing and fulfilled my longing for vegan ramen. The noodles are thicker than usual and I liked it. The vegan egg and Avocado Toast were delightful. I found the Tater Tots to be way too salty and the Bahn Mi Poutine has daiya cheese which I really don't like, but my husband devoured it.
Pros: Great price, Hip atmosphere

Must try Ramen at a great price! - Edit
We arrived between 8:30pm - 9:00pm on a Saturday, our food came within approximately 7min. Parking tips near the end of review
Read moreThe ramen had a great depth of flavor. We still dream of this ramen. We've also been to Ts Tan Tan in Tokyo.
If you would like a vegan egg it is an additional $2 to the price of the ramen.
$11.00 for a bowl of ramen is very reasonable. Especially for vegan ramen and in California. I think this is the same price as Jinya and $2 cheaper than HiroNori. The size is generous, we left very very full. They could have easily changed double especially with a celebrity chef.
When we were eating at the ramen bar a person next to us had gotten garlic spicy ramen which sounds amazing. I think we will try that if we ever visit again.
*we wish they had Siracha available at the bar
$11.00 Garlic Ramen 🍜: Delicious! Loved the flavor but would have liked to add a little Siracha. This is decently garlicky so it's best suited for garlic lovers. We heard someone order spicy garlic ramen so we'll probably try that in the future.
$11.00 OG Ramen 🍜: Absolutely delicious. A great depth of flavor, very smooth. We appreciated that it wasn't too oily.
The noodles were very good and the toppings were nice. The mushrooms were cut differently and had a great flavor. We've read other reviews where people think there would have been better toppings but we enjoyed them and were happy they did not detract but add to the flavor of the broth.
$6.00 Bahn Mi Poutine: Really good, interesting flavors. They torched the poutine to melt the cheese which also added a delicious grilled flavor.
Because we ordered a side and a ramen, we got one free drink. Really a great deal.
Staff: Super polite, helpful, friendly and fast! We ordered, found a seat at the bar and were eating within 7min.
Finding the correct stall: We easily found the Ramen Hood stall. It is visible from the entrance. It was the second entrance on our right (first on the left if you are arriving from thr other direction) and you pass about two stalls and it is on the left.
Parking: We paid $10 cash to park in a lot about 1 block away. It had a red sign and it was on the same side of the street as the Grand Central Market. I believe it might have been called Joe's Auto Park. There was an ATM on the lot near the street in case you forgot cash.
We drove around for 10-15min looking for parking. This was the most affordable and close option for parking.
Pros: Affordable , Delicious and all vegan
Cons: Paid parking lot only

I visited this place a couple of times over the years. The ramen is quite tasty. Not the best broth I’ve had, but pretty good. The atmosphere in the middle of the market is great!

This place is a gem - Edit
Dude, seriously, this place is freaking amazing, the mushrooms in the ramen are beyond amazing, my friend thought they were fake meat! Every ingredient is a explosion of glamour in your mouth, I try to visit every time I’m in LA. It’s absolutely delicious. Fave dishes: traditional Ramen, Spicy and Garlic, the avocado toast is a dream.

Really good! The spicy ramen is not actually spicy at all but it’s still definitely the best vegan ramen I’ve had in the US. And the vegan egg is cute too 🍳 Worth trying!

The best vegan meal I have ever had. The garlic ramen is to die for. You can never go wrong with Ramen Hood. Even when the noodles are undercooked it is still the best meal. The broth is just delicious. The price is reasonable and extra toppings are about $1-2 extra. I recommend it if ever in LA.

Tasty ramen in a cool spot - Edit
This is a counter service vegan ramen shop downtown inside Grand Central Market. Grand Central Market is a really cool, but bustling, market with lots of awesome food vendors and a local craft/artisan sellers market in the sub level.

I tried the OG ramen with an egg (vegan). The broth was tasty with a hint of spice. The noodles had a great texture, but were a little thicker than what is served at other ramen restaurants, which is not bad at all, just different. The egg was a nice addition to the bowl, but it’s not an absolute must have, in my opinion anyway, though I did enjoy it and am glad it’s available. The mushrooms were wonderful and had a great meaty texture and flavor.
All in all, it’s a great and yummy experience.
Pros: All vegan, Generous portions , Reasonably priced, and quick service
Cons: Downtown parking , Porta potty bathrooms

Not good ramen, dissappointing - Edit
Im sorry, i just cant get on board with this place. I went into it excited because its a full vegan menu, but the ramen was so inauthentic, not even the noodles felt right, they felt more on par with texture of thick spaghetti. The vegan egg was overall tasteless and unmemorable as well, i dont get the point of it other than to make people feel like they are eating egg. I will say, the broth was okay, and i like that they went for sunflower seed broth, but overall, the ramen here just isnt on par with other places ive been to in LA. On top of that, when i went, service was so slow, it took about 45 minutes to get our food. If youre visiting LA, i would skip the crowds at grand central market and go to one of the handful of places in Little Tokyo that have vegan ramen instead.
