The food is beyond good. See the line it's worth it to wait. The line moves fast and so does the seating.

Excellent - Edit
This is extremely good ramen that happens to be vegan. The noodles are perfect, the broth is rich and tasty, and the toppings are great. The cooked mushrooms are surprisingly amazing - chewy and savory. The egg is a nice (optional) touch. I've had the OG ramen and spicy ramen and they were quite similar. Looking forward to trying the smokey cold ramen.

Vegan Ramen - Edit
It was worth the trek to downtown LA to go to Ramen Hood. The ramen was rich, full-bodied and filling. The vegan egg was worth it - legit tasting and looking ramen. Hurry up and go try it.

most delicious ramen I’ve even had! - Edit
I had the spicy ramen and it was sooo good and the flavours were amazing. They ran out of the egg when I went but I think I’m going to have to go back again sometime during my trip!

Ramen that fools the omni's! - Edit
My omnivore teen boy brought me here for lunch when I had not yet converted. Still omni myself, I was a little disoriented by the various options open to me, but I went ahead and ordered the most popular dish on my kid's advice. I must admit that this was one of the experiences that helped me transition to fully vegan!

Delicious! - Edit
I love this restaurant! I had the a garlic noodle dish, opted to go for that instead of the ramen for my first time there. It had the vegan egg in it too and I enjoyed it! The flavor was amazing and the texture, temperature and presentation were spot on. I will definitely be back many times in the future. Definitely did not disappoint and certainly lived up to the hype! Loved it!

Really tasty yummy food! The spot is a bit warm and noisy but the food is so good you don't mind! The vegan egg did not really taste like egg (Could easily be done by adding black Himalayan crystal salt!)

top of the ramen list - Edit
After a three day vegan ramen binge - this one takes the cake. The vegan egg alone is enough to get it up to the top of my list - how I've missed marinated eggs in ramen!! But the broth and the noodles and the MUSHROOMS and ... well - just go experience it. Also - Grand Central Market is a fun place to check out!! Parking garage is on Hill street and 3rd. It was $3-4 when I went for parking but you may be able to get it validated? I forgot to ask.

SO Delicious! - Edit
Great stand in this downtown LA market. All vegan. Gluten-free options available. This is body and soul nourishing food. Great healthy ingredients - sunflower seed broth, bok choy, scallions, hearty king oyster mushrooms, nori. Or a rice bowl instead of noodles. Even an option for a vegan egg. Reasonably priced. On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday additionally open from 6-10 pm.

Excellent! - Edit
This place is 100% vegan and serves the best ramen and soup I have ever had, maybe some of the best food I have ever had period. I had their OG ramen, and today was rainy, windy, and pretty miserable. Having that nice hot bowl, (with delightful broth, bok choy, vegan egg, soy protein, absolutely top-tier noodles, and several other delicious ingredients) after walking for a while in the rain improved my day tremendously. The atmosphere is great, staff of the restaurant are all cool and nice, friendly people. I highly recommend!

Amazing Ramen - Edit
I actually first tried and was impressed by their ramen when I was still eating meat.
Read moreIt is absolutely amazing and I encourage you to try it out if you are in town - it is some of the best ramen I've ever had hands down. The broth is very filling and the king mushrooms add all the umami you will ever want.
However, I do not recommend the vegan egg; it tastes just ok and doesn't really add much considering how much it costs.

Pros: Food is FANTASTIC, Staff is very friendly, They have their own bar, no need to look for seats
Cons: Grand Central Market is very crowded and noisy, Getting here in a car is a hassle, Not good for groups larger than maybe 3-4

A culinary highlight in LA - Edit
I was in California for 10 days, and ended up eating this ramen for 3 meals. I love a good soup, and this was one of the best I've ever had. The broth was rich with a great texture (instead of just watery veg stock). All of the ingredients were fresh and wonderfully paired. The king oyster mushrooms were a highlight. The noodles were a perfect consistency, and would have fooled me for being egg noodles if I hadn't known the place was vegan. Absolutely delicious!

Best vegan ramen! ? - Edit
if you're looking to fill your ramen void, you've come to the right place! Big bowl of ramen for a good price, can't beat that! Sure the traffic and parking sucks, but if you stick it out, you'll be rewarded with tasty ramen! I'd stick with the ramen. The "Small Plates" definitely live up to their name, but at $5 an order it's a huuge rip off.

Why I came to LA - Edit
Visiting from Boston, I was hoping to have an authentic Los Angeles experience in my short forty eight hours in the city and Ramen Hood did not disappoint. Right in the heart of downtown, Ramen Hood provided a quick, delicious plant based meal complete with a vegan egg that made my friends wonder "How did they DO that?!" I don't know, but it was great!!

Amazing - Edit
We came here for a light brunch, but ended up so full we couldn't eat until dinner. The portion of ramen is really big and tasty. Vegan egg is interesting to try, although it would definitely taste more like egg if they added some black salt. We were very satisfied with the meal!

Fast, delicious, satisfying - Edit
If LA wasn't always so hot, I'd eat here more often. I love that there's an all-vegan ramen shop in the midst of all the meat-heavy eateries around it.
Read moreThe ramen is fabulous. Unlike places that make a "veggie" broth because there's nothing in it, Ramen Hood makes a rich, flavorful broth that's very satisfying. The huge oyster mushrooms added "meatiness" to the bowl, the veggies, I only wish there was a little more. I could have had another entire bowl though, I was pretty hungry. I drank every drop despite sweating buckets in that hot marketplace. All worth it.
Unfortunately I was not a fan of the poutine. It's way too oily. Yes, I know it's fried, but at that point, the oil overpowered the drizzle and it seemed like it was mostly oil and hardly anything else. I want to think it's also because I was one of the last people there that day so maybe I had the last of the stash.
But I will definitely go again, maybe to get the cold noodles, or maybe to sweat through another scrumptious hot bowl.
Pros: flavorful, fast, satisfying

Good Noodle - Edit
I had read about this place on HappyCow when it first opened, and finally had the chance to try it. Here's my Ramen Hood review.
Read moreIt's a bar within the Grand Central Market. The market has an inexpensive parking structure above it, so it's a good place to park.
The bad: You had to walk by all kinds of meat and fish eateries to get to Ramen Hood. And you smell all that stuff, too.
The good: The ramen noodles come in original, garlic, and spicy miso varieties. The noodle is fresh, and the taste is pretty good. Add $2 for vegan egg - it looks like egg but does NOT taste like egg.
The short menu also lists several appetizer items.
Pros: good ramen
Cons: housed with meat places
