Quesadilla with Jackfruit birria! - Edit
First visit to Plantaqueria. I had the Quesadilla with Jackfruit birria as protein (there are several other options). The vegan mozzarella cheese had a great melt and the jackfruit had the incredible flavor of barbacoa. This far exceeded my expectations. Delicious.

This was something you don't see very often. A 100% vegan Mexican food place. The flavors of their tacos were amazing. Can't remember which ones I ordered but all 3 were really delicious. The portions are not huge but I didn't really expect them to be since it's just tacos.

Mini Tacos - Edit
Had the mini tacos. Comes with 4. Decided on two pollo and two carne asada. The carne asadas were a little dry but the pollo was out of this world. The servings were huge. Want to give 5 stars but the restaurant was very smokey making my eyes burn and clothes/hair smell like a kitchen for the rest of the afternoon.

I grew up with my grandma making chorizo con huevo and bean and cheese tacos with homemade flour tortillas. I didn’t think it was possible but Plantaqueria has made my loved childhood memory vegan! Thank you! I just wished there was one in my hometown of Tampa.

Fresh, Fast, and Gets The Job Done - Edit
OK, I admit that I'm a huge fan of Tex-Mex cuisine, and it's no accident that I was in the right place at the right time. Plantaqueria gets it right, though they could cut back on, or better yet, completely eliminate the salt.

There are plenty of options on the menu to keep everyone happy, including the carnivores, who might wander in before or after visiting The Alamo, just steps away.
Pros: It's Tex-Mex; 'nuf said.

Loved the aguas frescas, we tried cucumber-lime and piña, very refreshing, the former was our favorite. Also ordered chips and salsa, chips seemed freshly made and the salsa portion was quite generous, mild spice and lots of flavor.

I had the Mini Tacos with pollo asado and fajita beef, the beef was my favorite, it had an excellent texture and was well seasoned.

Being vegan I never understood the hype around breakfast tacos, but I get it now. All three that I had (lucha, charra, and Amiga) were incredible. The Brew-chata was a must get for coffee lovers as well. Highly recommend this cute little place.

Staff were very friendly. I got "la lucha" which was recommended when I mentioned I can't handle too much spice and it was perfect. It is also close to voodoo donuts, so it's convenient. I will say, parking nearby was expensive (my lot was 15 bucks which got me 12 hours but I only needed 1 hour) so be prepared. I would suggest bringing at least 20 dollars cash.

This was my second visit to Plantaqueria while here in San Antonio for work. The first time I got three regular tacos thinking they would maybe be aittle bigger than street tacos but they were large and filling. I wasn't able to eat all three.
Read moreToday I did their street taco plate. I got two jackfruit barbacoa and two jackfruit birria. They're simple with just the jackfruit, onion, and cilantro. I added a bit of the two sauces they offer. They were outstanding. The birria tacos are probably the best vegan tacos I've ever eaten.
I also had the Sandia.. watermelon agua fresco and that was fantastic as well.
Pros: Great protein options, Great flavors, Affordable for the portions
