Great Breakfast - Edit
We are staying on the Riverwalk and ate breakfast here every day on vacation. The breakfast tacos, La Lucha, is a great vegan breakfast, and it leaves room for a Voodoo Donut afterwards, which is only a block away.

Pros: La Lucha breakfast taco with flour tortilla, Prices are reasonable, Staff are friendly
Cons: Only one booth, Coffee is nothing special

The egg is Just Egg, but they cook it down and spice it to elevate it a whole notch
And im finally a Jackfruit convert after having their jackfruit barbacoa taco.
Pros: Fast and friendly service , Their green and red salsas are amazing , You’ll feel you’re having tacos in Mexico!

Read moresolo. I’m in San Antonio for a convention, and believe me, getting my crowd to have a vegan meal is not going to happen. Anyway, bottom line, it was worth the walk! I had the four mini tacos, two with portobello, and two with carne asada. I also got a side of the charro beans. I basically poured the piping hot beans all over the tacos and ate them like an entree. I am a person who likes to finish my food, and I will sometimes stuff myself to misery in the process. I could not finish my meal, it was just too much! The food was very tasty, though a little heavy on the salt. I deducted a star because I just don’t like eating with disposable plasticware. It’s a small place, and I went just before 5:00 pm and was the only one there. I was glad to see there was a dine-in option. Prices were fair, I think it was $21 including 20% tip. The emailed receipt has not made it to my inbox yet.
Pros: Flavor, Vegan only options 👍
Cons: Plasticware 👎

We came for brunch, and then returned for dinner (only in town for the day)! The torta is to die for! I also love the breakfast tacos, and the fact that you can order them anytime.

Great Food Near Riverwalk - Edit
Every review I read said the food here is terrific, and they were correct. This was exactly what I needed to make up for the mediocre attempts at vegan food by the hotel where I am staying for a conference. The people here are also very nice and justifiably proud of their food. I do not visit San Antonio often, but will definitely return here when I do.

The food here is truly great. Best vegan Mexican you’ll find in the area. Birria quesataco was amazingly meaty, cheesy, and flavorful. The homemade limeade is a perfect combo with any meal they serve, and staff is also very nice ^-^ #Veganuary

Quesadilla with Jackfruit birria! - Edit
First visit to Plantaqueria. I had the Quesadilla with Jackfruit birria as protein (there are several other options). The vegan mozzarella cheese had a great melt and the jackfruit had the incredible flavor of barbacoa. This far exceeded my expectations. Delicious.

This was something you don't see very often. A 100% vegan Mexican food place. The flavors of their tacos were amazing. Can't remember which ones I ordered but all 3 were really delicious. The portions are not huge but I didn't really expect them to be since it's just tacos.

Mini Tacos - Edit
Had the mini tacos. Comes with 4. Decided on two pollo and two carne asada. The carne asadas were a little dry but the pollo was out of this world. The servings were huge. Want to give 5 stars but the restaurant was very smokey making my eyes burn and clothes/hair smell like a kitchen for the rest of the afternoon.

I grew up with my grandma making chorizo con huevo and bean and cheese tacos with homemade flour tortillas. I didn’t think it was possible but Plantaqueria has made my loved childhood memory vegan! Thank you! I just wished there was one in my hometown of Tampa.
