One vegan entree and one side…

A disappointing menu at this venue in a very unique hotel. My husband and I ordered the grilled cauliflower - the only vegan entree on the menu. What arrived was an entire large head of cauliflower which neither of us could finish, but left us feeling unsatisfied and hungry for something of substance. (Note to chefs: there are lots of vegan proteins to choose from…and more vegetables than cauliflower!) Virtually every other dish was made with cheese (Note to chefs: just leaving off the cheese does not substitute for a true vegan dish.) The grilled broccoli rabe - the only vegan side — was stringy and overcooked. Our wait staff had no clue what a vegan eats (“Can you eat turkey?”) and brought a bread basket whose contents appeared to be slathered with butter.

If you are visiting or staying at this cool hotel, the crepe place in the food court has vegan crepes which , while not fabulous, are at least…vegan!

Pros: Atmosphere

Cons: Lack of decent vegan options, Poorly trained staff

Good food inside a life-changing building

This is an acceptable option if you want to eat a meal inside the absolutely stunning Eero Saarinen-designed TWA Hotel. Although not explicitly labeled as such on the menu, the avocado pizza and cauliflower entree are both default vegan. I tried each at lunch and dinner and really enjoyed the meal. I just wish there were some more options and that they were labeled.

The restaurant and the rest of the hotel are furnished in mid-century chairs, tables, and stools and they exclusively play 1960s music. I highly recommend a visit if just for the vibes!
