Very poor vegan breakfast options! - Edit

The café is a in a lovely setting inside one of the country's largest secondhand book shops which previously was a railway station. Unfortunately the breakfast menu for vegans is shameful. They had no avocados left (there are two supermarkets on the same road), no vegan spread and not even the option of baked beans. The only good available therefore was dry toast with a jar of Tiptree jam. They did at least have soya milk and a fruit tea so at least you can have a hot drink. People were queuing to get on the book shop and travel from afar so they get do plenty of diverse customers.

Pros: Lovely setting for a drink.

Yummy sandwich - Edit

Went to the dog-friendly Waiting Room cafe inside Barter Books for lunch, rather than the Paradise takeaway. It was very busy and we had to wait quite a while for a table. The service was efficient and friendly. Had the mushroom sandwich which was absolutely delish, so much so that we went to the takeaway for another to take home! I didn't see any vegan cakes.

Pros: Lovely ambience in the bookshop., Delicious sandwich., Dog-friendly

Cons: Limited vegan menu.

Creative sandwich menu - Edit

Last week, Paradise added a very creative sandwich menu where one filling can be adapted to suit vegetarian, vegan or gluten free. Great to see the addition of vegan option as cafe inside Barter Books had vegan options. Lovely friendly staff and great coffee. There are benches in the Barter Books car park outside for seating at the moment.
