Must visit but not for the food! - Edit
Located inside the town's former railway station, complete with the original waiting room and drinking water fountain, this second-hand bookshop is enchanting. A miniature railway line trundles around above the books as you enter.
Read moreThe cafe options are limited, but avo on toast is decent. There's oat milk available for hot drinks, so you can stay topped up while perusing the book aisles.
Lovely location for breakfast or a pit stop, especially on a rainy day, but I'd probably book your lunch elsewhere! Dog friendly, too.
Pros: Atmosphere, Book lovers paradise, Architecture
Cons: Limited food options

Book shop s great but wouldn't here again - Edit
Lovely book shop. We gave the cafe a try but wouldn't bother again. The only vegan options were avocado on toast and chips. No cakes or desserts were suitable for vegans. They had oat milk for hot drinks. May have a drink again but food over priced for such poor options. Bowl of chips was about £6.

Greatest bookshop ever? - Edit
This place is amazing. Wonderful and you must visit!
Read moreThe cafe is like the old waiting rooms for the station and you could hang out there all day reading.
The hot chocolate was vegan and they have oat milk. The chips looked gorgeous but there wasn’t much else vegan on the menu that I could see, except avocado toast.
.
Pros: Vegan hot chocolate , Amazing venue with wonderful vibe, Books galore!
Cons: Not many vegan options

Wonderful place - Edit
Absolutely recommend visiting this place - more for the atmosphere but the food was also good. Not many vegan options but the food they had was very nice and the portion sizes very decent.

Beautiful bookshop - nice café - Edit
Really atmospheric and interesting bookshop and café - shame it only has some cursory vegan options. However, one of these is a chip butty which is delicious and very generous on the chips. Make sure you get the sliced bread as apparently their normal bread isn't vegan (!)

I am always disappointed for an indie place to be so lacking

Same! It's like they haven't even considered that people might be vegan 🙄

Read all about it - Edit
Very friendly cosy cafe within the brilliant Barter Books. There's not a vast amount of vegan options on offer, but the chocolate orange cake, Americano and decaf soya latte we got were decent. I did happen to have a peep at some chips on another table and they looked awesome!

Limited options but lovely atmosphere - Edit
Whilst there are not loads of vegan options here, they are steadily increasing. Avocado on toast, beans on toast, jacket potato with beans, chip butty… standard fare but great to have as a safe option in Alnwick. Even a chocolate orange vegan cake has been spotted!

Long queue, bustling atmosphere and is very unique as it is located inside of a secondhand bookshop.

A few vegan options such as avocado toast, beans on toast and jacket potato with beans. I went for the jacket with beans which was tasty, the soya cappuccino was delicious as well.
Reasonably priced.
Pros: Reasonable vegan options, Nice vibe
Cons: Lack of non-dairy milks

Don’t panic in the streets of Alnwick - Edit
A unique cafe set in the old Alnwick train station waiting rooms of the World famous and legendary Barter Books. Standard British fayre, we had a couple of coffees and a super avocado mash on toast topped with chilli flakes. Very happy.
