Lovely! - Edit
After struggling a little to find something to eat in many places in Split. This little place really brightened my spirits. Someone overheard us asking for any vegan options in another restaurant and then told us about here. The food was lovely and the wait staff were really nice and helpful. Really lovely hummus.😄

Pandora Greenbox - Edit
Advertises as plant based but uses animal products. They also have a drink dedicated to J.K. Rowling who is anti-trans who has lobbied for the the continuation of conversation therapy in the UK this year in 2022, this oppression does not align with intersectional vegan values.

Style over substance - Edit
All vegan which is great but to be honest I wasn’t very impressed with this place at all. I feel it was all about how it looked and not how it tasted. We shared the cucumber gazpacho and the truffle hummus for main which was pretty nice although the hummus wasn’t smooth enough for my taste and they didn’t give enough bread for the amount of hummus. I had the tofu, potato main which I didn’t like at all the flavours didn’t go together and it was very well cooked, the potatoes were undercooked for a start which is very basic. My fiancé had the risotto which also had weird clashing flavours and there was far too much rich risotto with nothing to cut through it. The worst thing was the awful service though. We were ignored at the door for ages whilst a queue formed behind us when there were empty tables to be cleared with members of staff just stood doing nothing whilst one poor waitress on her own was doing 80% of the work alone. People were asking for the bill and then being ignored / forgotten about and the male waiter was rude and didn’t seem to be doing anything whilst the waitress ran around like a headless chicken. The wine was overpriced and not great too.

Great high class food - Edit
This place was really central in split and also really popular. We loved the mains, the appetisers were a bit less grandiose than they sounded (hummus and pate) but still very tasty.

Best vegan food I have ever tried - Edit
My friends and I went there and tried both appetizers and every main dish except for the zuchini. It was all very tasty and even the cocktails were very delicious. The tofu had a very nice texture and the risotto was the best I have ever had. Also the waiter was very nice and made sure everything was to our liking.

Excellent breakfast - Edit
Vegan gram flour omelette was absolutely delicious. Soya latte was too small though and the place smelled of raw fish which turned my stomach a bit. They said it was coming from the place opposite and there's nothing they can do (I'd certainty considera change of premises if I were them though). Perhaps this is only a problem first thing in the morning as I arrived at 8am just on opening. Sadly I couldn't review it as 5* due to that smell in spite of the excellent food.

Tomamos risotto con tempeh y tofu empanado con guarnición de papitas y espinacas. Estaba todo delicioso, en especial el arroz, aunque las porciones son un poco pequeñas si vas con hambre.

All the dishes for dinner are vegan, so you have a lot of options. Gluten-free dishes are also labled. The dinner was really good, but a bit pricey for the size of the portions.

When in Split - you have to Go here! - Edit

Great After 1:30pm - Edit
We originally tried a vegan burger from Pandora Greenbox at a food stall they had set up at Park Josipa Jurja Strossmayera for a spring food festival. We liked it and decided to try out the restaurant in the old town, which is located near the fish market. We'd advise eating here AFTER the fish market has closed (after 1:30pm) as the smell is pretty intense during the day. Our meal was tasty and the cocktails were excellent.

Defo avoid and go to FIG - Edit
Was really looking forward to eating here with a large table but were highly disappointed. The food was average and small portions. The general ambiance was bad and the staff made everything difficult. Also strange policies in place. No juice after 6pm, no tap water, can’t modify anything on the menu. Defo don’t recommend. Go to FIG instead. It’s amazing!

Solid choice some room for improvement - Edit
Pandora Greenbox offers quirky ambience and friendly service. The two vegan soups we had were lovely though could have benefited from more spice/flavour. The curry spiced pasta was good but the broccoli pesto pasta was one note and dry. The restaurant fills up fast so make reservations or go early!

Best of the limited vegan options in Split (of that I tried!) - Edit
I went for breakfast and dinner given the lack of other vegan options in Split. I had the Molly Ringwald (chickpea flour omelette) which was novel and not bad (the limited sauce was delicious!) along with the Garica Weed Dream to drink (very limey, would only recommend for the novelty factor).
Read moreFor dinner, I had the Erykah Badu (delicious walnut soup) to start and the Gina Lollobrigida (homemade pasta with broccoli and cashew pesto and chickpeas) as a main - the main was ok but unremarkable. The like 2 litre fruit infused water was as you'd expect.
I'd go back, particularly given the lack of other (non-fast food) options, and would characterise the meals as pleasant but not special.
Pros: Plenty of vegan choices , Novel combinations
Cons: Not cheap, Not every dish was delicious but tasty enough
