Eggplant Ecstasy

A must-visit for anyone seeking a delightful vegan meal with an Asian fusion twist. The Eggplant dish alone is worth the trip, but the entire menu promises a culinary adventure that will leave you eager to return. With its serene atmosphere and delectable dishes, this restaurant truly embodies the spirit of plant-based dining at its finest.

Pros: Vegan , Delicious Asian Fusion

Exceptional vegan Asian cuisine, very friendly service!

Padmanadi is truly a hidden gem in Edmonton. As soon as you walk in, the atmosphere is bright, spacious, and serene with Oriental decor including a Buddha statue. The staff are exceptionally attentive, helpful, and welcoming.

The menu features vegan twists on classic Asian dishes, with an emphasis on Indonesian cuisine. We ordered the satay chicken skewers, chicken curry, tom yum fish, spicy fried shrimp, and coconut rice. Every dish was a 10/10 and came in very generous portions (yay to leftovers!).

The satay chicken skewers are a must - tender, flavorful, and doused in a tasty peanut sauce. The chicken curry is one of their best-sellers, and you must pair it with coconut rice to soak up all that delicious curry sauce. (Although their rice bowls are "individual-sized", they can easily serve two.) I have been vegan for nearly five years and have sampled many vegan fish and seafood alternatives, but the tom yum fish at Padmanadi was the most realistic-looking and fishy-tasting one I've ever tried!

All the food came quickly, tasted very fresh and vibrant, and was beautifully presented. The prices are reasonable, ranging from 17-20$ per main dish.

I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be coming back regularly!

Can't get enough!

Even though we have a Padmanadi in Calgary, my partner and I still love making the drive to Edmonton for it! The downtown Edmonton location has a larger menu. It also has one of our favourite Padmanadi dishes - vegan fish! We couldn’t resist ordering the fried enoki mushrooms (monthly special). What’s not to love about deep-fried crispy mushrooms?! It’s making me hungry just thinking about it. We have taken so many of our friends to visit Padmanadi and it’s been a hit amongst everyone, omnivores too 🌟

I ordered: tom yum fish, fried enoki mushrooms, satay with peanut sauce, and Szechuan mixed green

Always very good

This eatery sets the standard for customer service. When it first opened it was unique, insofar, as the owner (Kasim) would come and talk with you, remember your name, hug you, and even do karaoke. He made you feel VERY welcome.

Thomas, his uncle (or perhaps some other relation) was attentive and very endearing.

The food was always good and the buffet evenings were a major event in the vegan community. Some would call it a gluten-feast since most of the dishes were gluten-based.

His daughters were always involved in the business, even as youngsters.

Anyway, I had been away from Edmonton for some time and dropped in the other day to have a meal. I opted for the lunchtime mutton curry. As usual, it was delicious. Their curry sauce is quite famous - deservedly so.

It was very filling.

Note - they close at 2 pm for a break before opening up again at 4pm.

One Of My Favorite Go To Places

The first time I heard of this place was Taste of Edmonton in 2022. I then went to eat in person at the restaurant and was not disappointed. Family style atmosphere, the customer service was unmatched, and the food was amazing. My first time I actually mistook the curry chicken for real chicken, THAT'S how much they care about accuracy and food quality. Also family owned with only two locations in the city. Small business, big taste.

Try the curry chicken with the coconut rice, and the ginger beef. You won't regret it

Pros: Atmosphere In Restaurant, Customer Service , Top 3 Place I've Eaten At, Ever

Endless options

Wonderful selection - we had food delivered to our hotel when we were visiting Edmonton. The cauliflower bites were HUGE which was a nice surprise! The flavors were not overly strong in any of the dishes we ate, but I am very unfamiliar with Indonesian cuisine, so perhaps this is intentional. We still enjoyed our meal very much. We had the spicy eggplant, and Tofu with mushrooms.

Great variety

Oh my goodness the options available here! We had the cauliflower bites, spicy eggplant and mushroom tofu. The eggplant was my favourite, but based on everything we tried I don’t think there would be a bad option to choose!

Pros: Options , Flavours

First visit

Visited the downtown location last month in a group of five. We each chose a dish for the group to share and ordered the Spicy Eggplant, Bakmi Goreng, Mushroom Deluxe, Ginger Beef, and Sweet & Sour Chicken. We also had sides of coconut rice and fried wontons as an appetizer.

The food came out looking and smelling delicious (in fact, I forgot to take any pictures before we started eating and by the time I realized this, the food was all gone). All dishes were great with my favourite being the Ginger Beef and Bakmi Goreng being my second.

I plan on returning and cannot wait to try some of their other menu items along with another order of Ginger Beef.

Pros: All vegan

Best in Edmonton

I lived in Edmonton for 4.5 months, and the saddest part of leaving was not going to Padmanadi anymore. My partner and I still talk about their Wonton Soup, which is one of the best things I have ever had. The Chicken Teriyaki is SO good, as is the General Tso's Chicken and the Curry Chicken. Also, you have to try their homemade Chocolate Mousse! Honestly, everything is just so delicious, and you can't go wrong. I say best in Edmonton due to their very high quality, consistency, deliciousness level, and genuine care for customers. I miss this place and we still talk about it all the time 🥺😆

You cannot go wrong here

I have been a faithful customer of Padmanadi for over the 10 years I have traveled to Edmonton. It’s not an exaggeration to claim Padmanadi to be top 5 vegan restaurant in Western Canada. I love the diversity and selection of dishes here. The excellent appetizers and soups.

It’s all vegan so you can order anything without worry. The cuisine is a mix of Malay/Indonesian/Thai so there is an excellent selection of yummy dishes

Pros: Amazing selection , Great soups, Nice decor

Cons: It’s a bit on the expensive side, Very busy sometimes so make reservations

A-maz-ing

Everything is so good! The atmosphere is stellar! The team is great, very personable. Many people complain that there is no alcohol, but you don’t need it. This is our #1 go to place. We have brought omnivore family members when they visited and they insisted on going back before they left- it’s that good!

This place did not disappoint. We went to the southside location. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere relaxed. We ordered the drumsticks, dengdeng, and General Tao chicken. All three were just incredible. This place is something special. Wish I lived in Edmonton...

Was hard to decide what to try with so many options but we went with the Mongolian Chicken, Singapore Noodles and Canoi Roti. All were amazing but the Canoi Roti was heavenly.
