Great fresh tofu

This place sells great fresh tofu. It’s made in the factory in the back and sold from big tubs so you can buy any quantity you like. Pre-Covid they allowed you to bring your own container to cut back on single use plastic. The tofu is amazing, nothing like the prepackaged stuff from the supermarket. Along with plain tofu they sell Chinese 5 spice tofu and deep fried. They also sell bulk bean sprouts.

Amazing food at the tofu factory!

Ying Fat foods is conveniently located near downtown in Chinatown, just around the corner from Veggie Garden.
In addition to some dry goods, noodles and sauces, Ying Fat Foods specializes in all things soy! They are a "tofu factory", that makes tofu, soy milk and other related products.
My favorite items are the fried tofu and the pressed tofu. Depending on who is working, you might have to indicate what you want by pointing at it, some of the staff speak only Chinese.
The taste of packaged tofu cannot compare to the fresh stuff you can buy here. It really elevates the taste of any recipe to be able to add fresh tofu. The prices are also comparable to pre-packed options, with no preservatives.
It's in a bit of a shady neighborhood, but Ying Fat Foods is worth the visit!

Pros: no preservatives, freshly made product everyday, near downtown

Cons: shady neighborhood
