Serves meat, vegan options available. Trendy cafe that adjoins the Family Hotel. Menu varies and has clear labels if a dish has vegan option. Additionally, a few others may be adapted to be, such as avocado toast with vegan feta. Example of food might be: vegan big breakfast with carrot rashers, polenta fingers, and beans; cauliflower popper salad; pumpkin coconut cream soup; chocolate mousse with oat crumbs. Simple decor and easy parking. Reported closed October 2022.

Visit to Otaki - Edit
Just got back from a trip to Otaki and we called at the Otaki Kitchen for ‘Brunch’ I had the smashed avocado on Kapiti grain toast with side of mushrooms and my partner had smashed avocado on Kapiti grain toast with side of poached eggs (free range). Both meals were beautifully presented and tasted delicious and I’d recommend them both. The two ladies working there were great, friendly and very welcoming. We will go again and try other options and we’ve been told they would do combinations of the options available if we wanted them too. The cauliflower poppers salad looks good too. Thanks ladies and we’ll definitely be back Tony and Gareth -x-

Great vegan options - Edit
Went to the newly opened Otaki Kitchen in Kapiti for lunch. Not much vegan food in this area so it was nice to see vegan options clearly marked on the menu plus they told me they have other menu items that could be made vegan. e.g. they do an avocado toast with feta but they have a vegan feta on hand to sub if anyone wants it vegan. We had the vegan big breakfast and the cauliflower popper salad but the stand out was the chocolate mousse. Best one I have had. So light and creamy.

Worth stopping in for lunch if you are travelling to/ from Wellington or in the area. Easy and free street parking.
Pros: super helpful staff, vegan options clearly marked, beautiful food
Cons: not all vegan
