We did five course menu. I say five but some courses are like a tapas. What makes this truly fantastic is they make a single vegetable the star of the dish.

Nice try, missing a tiny bit to get perfect - Edit
Italian(ISH) food. We ordered various plates and some have been amazing, some need a bit of improvement. Overall we were satisfied but not blown away about it
Read moreWe can recommend the Panzanella and the Arancini.
It is vegetarian but they mention some plates can be made vegan.
I really have my doubts that the wine selection is vegetarian though.

Superb Food & Service - Edit
This was such an incredible little find in Bath…the staff were friendly and attentive, service was fast and the space lovely and inviting. And the food was incredible! We were a table of two and got five plates to share…the hummus and focaccia, samphire tomatoes (our fave), risotto, arancini and ravioli with the dark chocolate tart (AMAZING) and pistachio ice cream to finish. I didn’t take more photos because we honestly were too eager to eat it was all so good!
Read moreVery reasonably priced for the quality of the food and experience too…around £100 for two people without alcohol. Everything is vegetarian with most menu items having a vegan version which isn’t just removing the cheese!
Pros: Plenty of vegan choices, Friendly staff, Gorgeous food

Good but could have been better - Edit
We ordered 4 dishes to share and didn't realize that the chef used a similar white sauce in some of them... At that price point, we expected a little more creativity for the vegan clientele. The food however was very tasty. The dessert was an absolute (albeit tasty) joke though; £8.50 for a mere sliver of cake. This would be acceptable in a fine food establishment, but this was not one.
Read moreThe service was patchy: it started slow but got much better through the evening. I was surprised to see the vegetarians that arrived after us receive their food first. Given you are already eating at a pricey establishment, you still feel obligated to pay the £12.50 service charge, even when the service could have been better... 3.5 stars

High quality food, cosy ambience - Edit
All the flavours and ingredients were amazing and it was great to taste a wider variety of vegan food (veggie restaurant but most dishes can be made vegan).
Read moreThe staff were friendly and super knowledgeable about the dishes. Price wise it’s higher end but felt worth it for the experience and quality of the food and ingredients.
Pros: High quality ingredients , Cosy ambience and friendly staff, Different vegan dishes from other restaurants
Cons: Small restaurant - didn’t look super accessible

I found it by accident and they had a last minute cancellation as I went in and were very accommodating. The food was all homemade, simple but absolutely delicious! The decor, friendly staff and nice chilled music made it a great experience. All but one dish could be made vegan.

Mixed review - Edit
Small menu of small plates. Our server said they advise 4-6 dishes per person, the other server said 4-6 for 2 people. The couple opposite us fell foul of this with much more food than they needed or wanted. The dishes were lovely, and for almost 25 quid each including a glass of wine we didn't feel ripped off - until the bill came. 12.5% service charge was added. I don't recall this being mentioned either by the server or on the menu. Sort of spoilt my experience as I'm not a fan of feeling 'stung'. I get it, it's a touristy area of a touristy town but had we known we probably would have moved on and not eaten here.

Cons: Unexpected high service charge added, Expensive

The service charge is noted at the bottom of the menu (next to the mention that most dishes can be made vegan). 🌱

Exquisitely crafted vegan small plates - Edit
We were blown away with the flavors here. So yummy and unique with ingredients you don’t often see or eat. They are quite small plates and it was expensive when we just got two things each. We savoured every bite though. Be careful as a couple things are vegetarian.

Okay - Edit
The decor is very cosy and welcoming. It does a tasting menu but it is more like a standard restaurant than upmarket dining. The food is nice but not particularly special, the main course was a fancy hashbrown. The servers aren't going to take you through the dishes, and it seems the staff and most of the patrons aren't vegetarian; you get a lot of people around you talking about steak etc the entire time. I was willing to spend a lot of money because I thought it would be a unique vegan dining experience for a special occasion but I did feel quite disappointed in the end.

Amazing feast and wine pairing - Edit
Came here for my partners birthday - it was 5 courses of amazing food and beautifully paired unusual wines (pet nat, skin contact etc). There was one non-vegan dish with homemade ricotta in pasta but there was a vegan option of a potato terrine with mushroom that was amazing. Would love to see this place go fully vegan!

Lovely ambience - Edit
The vibe at Oak was super cosy and warm. We were nestled in a nook, which felt very private and made the whole experience even better.
Read moreWe got all the small plates. Every plate could be made vegan except two, so my partner and his family had them instead.
The highlights of the night were the focaccia bread which was perfectly salty and dense - it went amazingly with the houmous.
I also loved the arancini and the beetroot.
I did feel, however, that some dishes felt like they lacked something. The broccoli fell a bit flat and the potato, although good individually was not a sharing size and wasn’t complimented by its sauces. We also didn’t receive one of our dishes, the artichoke.
Pros: The ambience , The bread
Cons: Some dishes fell flat

This place is a must try!! Mostly vegan menu with some vegetarian so clarify when you're ordering, but almost everything can be veganised anyway.
Read moreThe food is so different, small plates that are quite experimental but so tasty and fresh and focused on fresh, homegrown food.
They recommended 3 small plates per person, I'd say this was quite a lot for us and we left absolutely stuffed, so bear in mind and air on the side of caution.
Pros: The food was incredibly tasty , And very fresh , The atmosphere was cosy and charming
Cons: Expensive, but worthit

Phenomenal flavours - Edit
We booked a table here on the spur of the moment and were absolutely blown away. The staff were so lovely and attentive and each dish was so fresh and flavourful. The menu changes throughout the year but, when we went, the pickled carrot was so fantastic I couldn't believe how obsessed I was with it! We've already discussed coming back here again and know this will be a favourite spot for us in Bath!

We felt welcome immediately despite not having a reservation and they were able to accommodate us. We had only wanted a light supper but after tasting the food ordered another starter. Everything was delicious. A couple items were a little salty but still amazing. If we are able to make it back this holiday we would. Tons of fresh vegan choices

A real treat - Edit
I’ve been to this restaurant in its various guises over the years (Acorn, and Demuths before that) and it never disappoints.
Read moreMy partner and I went again recently and had an excellent meal: the pickled carrots and fermented cashew was particularly good, elevated by a flavourful herb oil; the gnocchi was hearty and perfectly bouncy; and the desserts had a lovely balance of sweetness and texture.
The service was also excellent: attentive but not formal and stuffy.
It’s not cheap but considering you can easily pay £50 for two in a fairly standard restaurant, I think it represents reasonable value for a special treat.

A good try but not there in all aspects - Edit
A lovely little restaurant with great ambience and a good offer. What was disappointing was the execution on the day we visited.
Read moreThe Jersey royal and leek soup was a bit gloopy, which happens when you over purée potatoes. It seemed a bit of a shame to use such a special a raw ingredient in a way that removes some of its best features, so a nice idea but not necessarily a good one.
We ordered a dish that was supposed to have almonds in and another with pine nuts: neither ingredient was detectable so although nuts and seeds are shown on the menu they are not used in any quantity.
There was also not a single legume on the menu (which seems a massive oversight for a vegetarian restaurant) and the food was all a bit under seasoned.
I would go again as it felt like a lovely place and great concept, but I wouldn’t be itching to repeat any of the savoury courses: none of them was a wow. I’m hoping this was just an off-day.
The pudding (a ball of chocolate ganache and one of sourdough ice cream) was the best thing we ate - it was good.
Also paying £5.50 for a 125ml glass of kombucha seems a bit steep, even if it was lovely!
Pros: Ambience, decor, location, Concept and offer: good menu
Cons: Execution: savoury courses weren’t a wow, Under seasoned , Not a legume in sight

A little gem at the heart of Bath - Edit
It is our second time in Bath, and second time at Oak. We were as impressed as we were the first time.
Read moreTheir cuisine is innovative, creative, each meal is beautifully arranged on the plate, and pleasing for the eyes, The food is an explosion of flavour and texture in the mouth. And yet the ingredients are so simple: mostly in season local vegetables.
I could feel the love and respect for each ingredient while eating. The Chef is an artist.
The staff is nice and friendly, and I like the vibe of this place. If you visit Bath, make sure you book at Oak, it’s more than worth it!
