Wonderful solo vegan experience - Edit
There are lots of vegan options at this quaint little bohemian styled restaurant. Two fun french waitresses took care of me when the rain began to pour just before my meal was served. They moved me under cover and I finished my multi-course meal at the bar.

Ok food- Super slow service - Edit
I actually ended up here by mistake and wanted to go to the all vegan place which I guess is just below it. I had the tempura vegetable and the Japanese Ajillo vegetables. The tempura was nice and crisp but very bland. I finally found some sauce on the bottom mixed into some lettuce. It didn’t make it that much better though. The Japanese Ajillo was straight up sautéed frozen carrots, zucchini, and broccoli. I swear if this were in the states I would call it Trader Joe’s Asian Stir Fry frozen mix. Super bland too and the server suggested to mix with the sauce but that didn’t add much. I ended up dousing it all in soy sauce and eating it anyway. Ha.

Also, I’m pretty sure the tempura had eggs in it based on the way my stomach feels today. The waiter promised that it was vegan but I had a hunch he wasn’t sure.

Don’t get confused - Edit
Veggie veggie is downstairs. We accidentally ended up eating here and we’re not impressed. The rice was somehow mushy and had hard pieces. Flavors weren’t great. Nice location. Nice staff and service. The food was lacking.

Average restaurant - Edit
I guess I am a little bit picky when it comes to Japanese restaurants because at home we have quite good ones.
Read moreThe staff is really nice and you can have a Spanish or English menue. The prices are average for Bacalar.
We ordered a seaweed salad which was good and different. There were not only the seaweed but also small chopped cucumber and carrots in and also some Tofu. The Tofu was not good to be honest. It was just plain, unmarinaded, cold Tofu...
We also had the Edamame as starter and they were good. Not too nice was that the "spoons" we got for our soy sauce were not really clean. We told our waitress and she removed them, just to bring the same ones back with saying that they were stains and you can't clean them off. I personally think that when you offer white plastic in a restaurant and it so used that you can't clean it anylonger it's time for the trash...
The soups udon & Zosui we ordered ( I forgot to take a picture) were okay but only luke warm. And they had there own interpretation of the Udon pasta. Definitely not the kind I know from Europ. They tasted nothing special but like thick, plain wheat nudels.
