Would give 6/5. Tasty af, big portion, lots of protein - Edit
Had then KAO SOI (veg.) - spinach noodles in spicy coconut soup. It had like 4 or 5 kinds of vegan meats/seitan, some sprinkled with spicy mango topping, some pickled leafy stuff, and bean sprouts. Food was quick, portions huge. Only downside: the restaurant is a little noisy. They also serve Thai sticky rice with their curries aka proper Thai place

Something for everyone - Edit
While I prefer to support vegan businesses, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the veggie options and service at Neecha Thai. Food was ready FAST. The pumpkin curry was amazingly flavorful. There were a variety of tofu and wheat-gluten (seitan) protein options. I'm definitely going to be craving their food now whenever I want Thai.

Pros: Huge portions, Great flavors
Cons: Restaurant is not vegan- supports animal abuse.

Not at all vegan if selling animals corpses. Veganism is a binary condition. You is or you isn't. They ain't. The only thing about vegans they love is your money to finance their murder kitchen. 😢

theNumberOfTheBeast.. You're completely right. It does feel gross giving money to places that will use your contributions for pure evil. I'm still trying to figure out how to deal with eating with a group or with family who won't agree on a vegan restaurant 😵💫

There's many approaches to handling social situations and invitations to sit in the presence of animal abuse. I default to honesty, which for me is to explain: I refuse to dine with any person or restaurant that serves animal abuse products for a litany of reasons, it's my personal boundary and I am happy to explain and even treat anyone who wishes to join me at a fully plant-based business. It's a great way to start a conversation on the subject. If honesty is not appropriate for time or practical necessity, I may say, I'm not hungry, I'm fasting, I've already plans, on medication, etc. Largely, the hardest step is to really imagine what seeing yourself dining in a restaurant with those who refuse to eat plant-based meals would be like from the mother of the dead animal's perspective. Why is it okay to sit in the presence of someone eating my dead baby? Why aren't you angry, repulsed, disgusted, boycotting or preventing this unjust and unnecessary event which is happening simply for entertainment? The next step is to measure if you have the courage to stand up for your beliefs and weigh that against how uncomfortable the social fall-out against defending bodily autonomy for animals would be and deciding which is more valuable to you. Many people do not eat plant based simply from cowardice alone and the fear of social ostracism. This can be a cripple force for many that takes a lot of guts to overcome. This is a very valid and real demotivating anxiety. Some people simply do not have the nerve to stand up to the majority of society to defend their beliefs against those hostile to them. As always, the best approach is empathy and kindness and and being sympathetic even towards the enemies of your beliefs and those who willfully order violence against those for whom you wish salvation.

TheNumberOfTheBeast: Sounds dogmatic and isolating. Btw, your last sentence is a point for going to an Omni restaurant for certain social situations. Empathy and kindness - I have plenty of convos with my loved ones about the evil in the right setting.

It's not isolating at all. I love taking not yet vegans to vegan places so they can see the right way to do it and get food that's actually vegan made by vegans which always tastes way better minus anxiety. Dogmatic? Just separating eating from mourning. Maybe you would go to a buffet in a morgue where the killers eat their victims, not me.

Super tasty and satisfying - Edit
They have vegan options for many of their dishes. The Vegan Tom Ka soup delights my taste buds (including my mind) every time. The vegan skewers are always good and the pumpkin curry is delicious. Every dish I’ve had from them is always a pleasure, but those are my go-to’s.

Good veggie options - Edit
Numerous veggie options are on the menu it explicitly states that they do not use fish sauce for veg dishes. You can also ask them to make not veg dishes vegetarian/vegan, such as the Pad Kee Mao, which is only listed with meat on the menu.

Best Thai in Oakland - Edit
I'd give this place 5 stars if I could! Local vegetarians and vegans (and omnivores alike) have known about this place for years. They have a HUGE veg/vegan menu: the grandmother developed vegetarian versions of traditional dishes and they taste simply amazing! The staff is knowledgable and attentive and the service is great! This place gets packed during dinner hours and doesn't take reservations. Try going during lunch and order one of their specials, which they will make vegan for you if you ask. My go-to order: veggie skewers, vegan Tom Yum, and vegan Pumpkin Curry with fried tofu. Make it a night with a movie down the street at the marvelous Grand Lake Theater.

Six years later and the pumpkin curry with tofu is still fantastic. Also loved the veggie skewers. Thanks so much for these recommendations
