Fantastic Tourist Spot with a Great attitude towards the dogs of the area. - Edit
The food, entertainment and vibe is great for your first experience in Sri Lanka. It's aimed at tourists so the waiters are easy to communicate with, the food is really good and the restaurant funds the Hope foundation which cares for the local dogs. Also has entertainment. Great for when you first arrive, not rustic at all. Good drinks too. 100% recommend for when you first arrive and dive into the culture before revving up your Tuk Tuk and going out on your Sri Lankan Adventure!

Nice atmosphere but mediocre food - Edit
We ordered the Vegan Burger and Mushroom Burger and they were not good. Not much flavor and everything tasted plain. The fries and onion rings tasted just like fried oil.
Read moreWe loved the mojito mocktail and the live music in the evening. Concidering the other good reviews it might be better to order Sri Lankan food here.

Amazing! - Edit
They had a lot of vegan options clearly labelled and at the back of the menu there was a fully vegan section. The staff was very friendly and professional. And the food was just delicious, I can really recommend this place! A nicely decorated place with a bit higher prices but worth it!

Wonderful place - Edit
They have plenty of vegan options, clearly labelled. On top of that they point out which dishes are spicy and cannot be made mild which for someone like me - who doesn't tolerate spicy food is so helpful. Extremely friendly and attentive staff!

Outstanding service, funky place - Edit
This place is huge! Super funky, very fun. Service was excellent.
Read moreFood was large portions.
I has the vegan sri Lankan devil - iT was ok, more just spicy than any real flavor. Came with coconut roti, bit bland.
Also ordered vegan chocolate cake- less cake and more like raisin fudge, if you like raisins you'll like it
Also got a Margherita which was warm
$20 was average pricing
Pros: Plenty of vegan options , Excellent service
Cons: Food is a bit bland

Stunning vegan food & great service - Edit
The moment you walk through the door the warm welcome (usually from Martin the owner) & politeness of the staff is on another level. You are always asked where you want to sit and are served quite quickly. You are never ignored and the staff top up your glass as soon as you’ve drank it.The menu is large & offers Asian & western options. As vegans we were blown away by the choices we had, with our own vegan menu. Everything from curries, burgers, pastas and even nut roast and shepherds pie! (Very rare in Sri Lanka)
Read moreWe ate there several times & were never disappointed, we tried the Thai & Sri Lankan curries, which were super tasty & filling. The mushroom & sweetcorn burger & vegan burger were delicious, and the nut roast we had just before Xmas was a lovely reminder of home, far away.
Martin regular pops out from front of house & the kitchen to come and chat with you & he’s a very grounded, interesting & positive human being. When we returned to negombo a month later, Martin remembered all about us. As two people who were in Sri Lanka to help a dog charity as well as for travelling, we found the work he does for his hope Foundation, helping Street dogs a beautiful thing.
There is even fish pedicure & manicures which you must try & I found it very entertaining!!
We spent 5 weeks in Sri Lanka & as vegans we really struggled with food choices. We only wished there was a Lord’s in every town! #Veganuary
Pros: Lots of vegan options, Excellent service , A warm welcome & personal touch

Good Vegan Options - Edit
Good vegan options, all clearly labelled on the lunch menu and the dinner menu has a whole vegan section.
Read moreI had the soy meat Sri Lankan curry with rice, pappadom and coconut sambol. Very good but quite expensive by Sri Lankan standards.
I also tried the shepherds pie out of curiosity as I’m English and haven’t had this dish in a while and was pleasantly surprised!!
The service was really good and they sell bamboo straws and don’t use plastic only glass bottles.
Pros: Large vegan selection, Clearly labelled menu, Good service
Cons: Expensive

Vegan menu and proceedings going to street dogs&cats charity - Edit
Very spacious place with a separate vegan menu .
Read moreI had nut raisin curry which was delicious . You can choose how spicy you’d like it : not spicy , mild , medium , spicy ( they ask you :)).
The owner himself , Martin was going around the tables to introduce himself and mention the charity the proceedings from the restaurant go to and wasn’t asking for any additional donation nor being pushy at all.
I found that to be a very nice & personal touch and since I feel strongly about street dogs I found the higher prices acceptable and found the donation box in the restaurant myself .
Pros: Vegan menu, Proceedings go to street dogs& cats charity

Vegan menu and vegan chocolate cake as dessert - Edit
Great place to have dinner. Staff is very good and it has a vegan menu with a lot of choices. Through reading the 'Hope magazine' I found out the owner recently changed from vegetarian to (flexi-) vegan! He's also helping street dogs an cats and the Singalese community with his restaurants.
Read moreI had the soya meat and mango curry, which was really tasteful and not spicy at all (I chose mild spicy). The best thing was the vegan dessert: triple layer chocolate cake! It did take a while (approx. 30 minutes) to arrive, but it was worth the waiting. Me and my girlfriend ordered one cake per person, but I would advise you to share one cake because the cake is big and really filling!
The prices are closer to the prices in Europe, but the quality of the food is well worth it and still very cheap. We spent approx. EUR 40 for starters, mains, desserts and (non-alcoholic) drinks for two persons!
Pros: Vegan menu with lots of options, Owner is following a plantbased diet, Excellent price/quality
Cons: The ambiance was not our taste (a bit too much)

There's a whole vegan menu - Edit
Went to this place to meet some animal rights friends that live in the area and thanks to them, they've created a vegan menu with the owner of the restaurant. I had the jackfruit curry and it was fabulous. There's heaps of selection, good service, even a vegan dessert. It's your stereotypical tourist beach restaurant which could be anywhere in Asia but the food and company were great and the Manager does a lot of his staff and the local community so was happy to go there. Will be going back!
Read morePros: Separate vegan menu, Good portions, Great service
Cons: There's a nightclub feel about it, There's a fish spa in the restaurant, Could be more vegan dessert options

Good vegan choices - Edit
Normally wouldn’t have given this place a second glance - loud music, dive bar lighting and a menu too big so nothing is cooked well. But read the reviews and headed in for lunch. Had the vegan jackfruit curry and asked for very spicy. It was a very good curry but came western spicy so too much on the medium side for me.
Read moreUsually service in Sri Lanka is on the languid side which is fine. Here the staff were fast, efficient and smiling and the food arrived in good time.
Pros: Lots of vegan , Good food, Nice staff
Cons: Only the things I would hate anywhere, loud , crappy music, lurid signs

Scrumptios vegan choc cake! Wow. - Edit
We went to Lords for the vegan dessert and were very impressed! The vegan chocolate cake was amazing, rich, and totally delicious. The owner is also very engaging and we learned about his efforts to help here with neutering stray dogs to cut down on feral population. Check hours before coming as opening hours different than what is listed on Happy Cow, but this may be due to the Christmas season..? There is a good vegan menu for entrees and mains. Owner is vegan. Prices are higher than elsewhere in Sri Lanka but on a par with meal prices around Negombo.
