Fantastic

Would definitely recommend making your way over here. It can get very busy so maybe book if you can. Basically everything was vegan or could be made vegan and they had a large selection of baked goods. I found staff to be very friendly.

Super delicious food!

I visited Kin cafe for lunch today and I left so satisfied! First of all, the interior is beautiful and cozy, the staff is extremely nice and they seem like they do enjoy their jobs. I chose to have a vegan tofu-mushroom-zucchini quiche which was absolutely fantastic and went for a side of kale salad with garlic croutons and coconut bacon! All of it was pure heaven, definitely some of the nicest food I've had in London. They have kombucha which I wanted to try but it was too cold outside so I went for a very tasty hibiscus tea instead. Overall this cafe deserves a five out of five start rating and I can't recommend it enough! :)

Pros: price is great for London, food is fantastic, very nice atmosphere

Great veg cafe nestled away in central London

Quiet little cafe, lots of vegan items included in the menu, including sweet items like muffins and cakes. They stock good plant based milks, Bonsoy and Oatly barista as well as almond milk. Prices are decent for central London.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Cons: A bit tucked away location wise, but worth trying

Great local cafe

I live very close to Kin cafe and have frequented a number of times, for breakfast, brunch, and lunch. The dishes are delicious, hot chocolate beautifully crafted, and cakes decadent.
Their weekend hours are very confusing though.

Pros: Delicious, great selection

Best vegan breakfast!

Unreal. You have to try this place. We had the pancake, the pesto tofu scramble toasti, and a cauliflower toasti, flat white, dirty chai, etc! All vegan and all amazing and super affordable. Super nice staff, central location, and cute sidewalk seating.

Pros: sidewalk seating, great food, vegan options galore

Breakfast at Kin

Traveling with a vegan and also picky kid is a little difficult. We were so excited to find Kin where they had a pancake to satisfy my daughter and a delicious cauliflower dish and tofu pesto toastie for the grown ups. The dirty chai, espresso, and flat white we had were all fantastic as well as the green juice.

Pros: Many options, Fast

Good spot for breakfast

I had previously visited at lunchtime but was pleased to see that they also open for breakfast during the week/brunch on Saturday. Breakfast options are displayed on a board behind the counter (vegan options are marked) and the guy serving was happy to give more info. I chose the pancake with fruit which was tasty, a good option for a light breakfast. My oat milk latte was also good.
Nice relaxed atmosphere and great central location.

Pros: Open for breakfast , Good coffee with a choice of milk -oat/soya/almond, Friendly service

Inconsistent

Overview: First time - amazed; second time - disappointed.

The first time I went to Kin for breakfast, I went home absolutely raving about it and told my partner that he had to accompany me next time. With Kin closed on the weekends this just wasn't an option unfortunately.

I have had vegan tofu eggs in several different places and they've never been memorable or exciting... but I had the polenta eggs at Kin and oh my goodness I don't think I can rave about them enough. The flavour was amazing and not the easiest to replicate at home (unlike all tofu eggs I've ever had). I added avocado which I would recommend others do too (though I am just generally obsessed with avocados).

My vegetarian friend got the mexican style eggs and was happy with his choice. My non-dairy latte was curdled (can't remember if it was soy or almond) but I was fine overlooking this as I was thoroughly enjoying my polenta and I know that a lot of people struggle with getting non dairy milk to look good in a latte.

Fast forward to Kin announcing they would be open on Saturday! I was so excited and made my partner come with me.

They didn't have the polenta eggs on their Saturday Brunch menu so I went for the "Vegan Pot Roast" while my vegetarian partner went for the savoury pancake. Neither of us were happy with our food.

The vegan pot roast had listed what would be in it (potato, mushroom, tomato...) but I thought that these would be the sides and the main thing would be some vegan take on a pot roast. The main element was a giant slab of american style hash browns. And everything was smothered in this cream with tons of dill that started to make me feel a bit sick halfway through my food.

The staff were lovely and they did offer me a free juice when something went awry causing the kitchen to not see my order until my partner was halfway through his. But given how few people were in there maybe they could've figured out something was up sooner?

My partner has no desire to return. I might try again in hopes of recreating my first experience there. (Maybe their baked goods are where it's at?)

Pros: Good Style/vibe, Friendly Staff, POLENTA EGGS

Cons: Inconsistent Food (some boring/bland), Non-Dairy Coffee Curdling

Hi Viva The Vegan,

Firstly may I introduce myself as Charlie, I'm the owner here at Kin.

I would like to start by thanking you for your positive review of your first visit, it's always great to hear when someone has such a pleasant experience and I'm glad we made this happen.

Moving on, I'm very sorry that your second visit on a Saturday didn't come close to matching your first in terms of both the food and service. It's a shame that the fact that the dish you ordered perhaps wasn't communicated or presented clearly enough on the menu and/or by whoever was serving you. It is in fact a vegan potato rosti, however again my apologies that you understood it differently.

Though this is by no means an excuse, but we have only just very recently started trialling out Saturdays, so the menu and service structure are all very much new to us and therefore have required a degree of tweaking and amending accordingly to improve. My utmost apologies again that unfortunately your experience may have been compromised as a result of this.

I can assure you that everything is now running a lot smoother on Saturdays and do hope that you'll consider visiting us again soon.

Thanks again for taking the time to write such valuable feedback.

Kind regards,

Charlie

Ok vegan breakfast, but not great

I had the cooked beans on toast, the raw cocounut mash with berries and a hot chocolate drink.

The toast was good, the mash was wrongly balanced (10% instead of 30% berries), and the drink wasn't properly made.

All the best:)

Hi Victor,

Thanks for taking the time to leave feedback of your visit, this is always appreciated.

I'm sorry your visit wasn't entirely positive, we are increasing our berry to bircher ratio moving forwards. Regarding the hot chocolate, could you elaborate a little bit on how it wasn't properly made? I am glad you enjoyed the beans on toast.

Thanks again,

Charlie

Great breakfast and lunch option!

Kin cafe' is a great option for breakfast and lunch: the breakfast options include a vegan sandwich, different every day (tofu scramble, vegan BLT with coconut 'bacon', etc...), bircher, various muffins and cakes. Lunch has a great salad selection to choose from. You can also get any drink you like with almond or other non dairy milk and the environment, clean and simple, is ideal for a mid morning meeting or chat with friends. As a veggie cafe' in central London, Kin deserves your custom!!!

Pros: Vegan sandwich every breakfast, Selection of vegan cakes, Good salad selection for lunch

Cons: Not open weekends!

Happy breakfast !

Warm welcome, I really appreciated that the owner took the time to explain us everything and the content of each plate on the counter. Too bad they have very few vegan options. But at least they have several types of vegan milks. I had a yummy rawnola and hot chocolate for 6 GBP which I consider to be fair for a breakfast. Savoury (and good looking) options also available.

London's best & Classiest Little Vegan/Vege Cafe!

DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE! The food here is some of the tastiest and most creative vegan food I've tasted in central London. I'm addicted to the 'cheesie' tofu scrabble they serve in the morning, the vegan bircher muesli,; even the beans on toast are homemade and taste amazing! DONT BE FOOLED BY THE TITLES; the food here is anything but dull. The chef here is clearly super talented and puts a trendy, modern, tasty twist on staid traditional dishes. There are still some 'run of the mill' standard sandwiches etc, but I hope they expand the creative fare which, when Londoners (vegetarian or not!) properly discover it, will make the place a top spot and separate it from the hundreds of other modern cafes in the area. Amazing place and super friendly, cool staff to boot! 100% recommended

Pros: Creative 21st century twist on dishes, Rich, tasty flavours to explore, Big on creativity

Cons: Some commonplace dishes creeping in
