5 star vegan experience - Edit
Everything was delicious including the atmosphere and the staff. The restaurant is vegetarian but they have a vegan option for everything. I also tried an analcolic fermented beverage obtained from white beetroot that was amazing! It was a great experience that I recommend to everyone including non-vegetarians.

Lovely night out - Edit
We enjoyed 3 hours at Joia with the full 9 course tasting menu. The dishes are pretty and host a variety of flavors. There were mostly hits but a couple of huh? dishes (especially the last savory course which was a foam hiding grapes and mushrooms amongst other things). The food at times was a little simplistic for this price point (€135 per person) which I guess was to highlight the ingredients themselves, but at times felt underwhelming compared to other fine dining restaurants of this calibre (eg. Gauthier).
Read moreThe ambiance was a little sterile until the restaurant filled up and everyone was enjoying themselves. Wait staff were friendly but the sommelier seemed a little offended that we didn't go with his suggestion as our red wine choice was apparently not a good pairing with the meal. We don't like whites, and our wine choice ended up perfect for us (and in our price range given the majority of bottles were very pricey).
Given almost the whole menu is vegan, it doesn't make sense to me why they would bother continuing to be vegetarian at this point. In nearby Turín, there are two fully vegan fine dining restaurants (which are not Michelin starred like this one but I would argue are equally as good, if not better), so I think it would work here too.

Vegan tasting menu worth more than ⭐️ - Edit
Get a chance to enjoy the highest quality vegan dishes, immaculately prepared and served is a treat above any culinary experience you could hope for. Milan continues to surprise with amazing vegan food. Noted to the server that we were vegan and had all dishes prepared and presented, including the wine, as fully vegan. Made reservations the day before. Tables were busy so reservations or calling ahead is recommended.

Great set lunch with a shocking ending - Edit
On a short visit to Milan I wanted to treat my friend so we tried the lunch set menu. Luckily that day it was completely vegan and it was very delicious. There was a lot of explanation from the waiter about where the products came from and how they were cooked. It was surprisingly filling for such small items.
Read moreAt the end we both wanted a cup of tea - I asked for chamomile and my friend wanted black tea. After some time the waiter came back with a carafe of cold tea and after a very, very long explanation of how and when the leaves were picked and how the drink was made I realised that I wasn't going to get my chamomile so I opted for that. My friend asked again for a black tea and eventually it was made in front of us in a very elaborate way and even had it's own timer to tell her when she was supposed to drink it! That was fine, it wasn't what we wanted but still....
The shock came with the bill. €30 for the set menu, great value but the €10 EACH for a small cup of tea, and it wasn't even what we wanted. Beware if you are offered any extras and check how much it will cost. This was a disproportionate amount to charge and kind of spoilt the whole experience.
Pros: Nice atmosphere, Tasty food
Cons: Ridiculous charge for two small cups of tea.

Special fine dining experience - Edit
My husband took me here for my bday. The whole experience was wonderful. The atmosphere, the service. We had a wine tasting menu to compliment our food and it was amazing. Food was incredible, but I definitely over estimated how much I could eat and after course 7 or so I was really struggling to eat anymore!

An emotional food journey - Edit
Elegant Michelin vegan/vegetarian restaurant with degustation menu or combined lunch plate. I chose full Zenith menu to enjoy mostly plates of chef Pietro Leemann. Each of them was finished with last ingredient by waiters with their full description of ingredients.
Read more1. Sun harbour - japanese-style aubergine tatin, corn and buckwheat biscuit, plum and ginger emulsion, vegan almond quark.
2. Temple in the time - green celery caponata, bell pepper without peel, spring onion, "bella di Cerignola" cream, fowers and sprouts salad.
3. Brother sun - Watermelon and strawberry gazpacho, wasabi emulsion,
25-vear-aged balsamic vinegar, avocado little sphere, strawberries and red shiso
4. The navel of the world - risotto creamed with sattron and gently smoked, fresh beans and summer truffle, green sauce and
blueberries
5. Two steps backward, three steps forwards - Skewer with homemade tempeh, friggitello and peach, purple steamed aubergine and Maghreb sauce
6. Tribute to the tradition - three, homemade plant-based cheese, apricot and Sichuan pepper compote, sweet and sour cherry, blackberries chutney
7. Pomo d'oro. Dices seasonal vegetables and fruit, flavoured with passion fruit, basil froth
8. Gong. Vanilla and chocolate vegan composition, with raspberries, hazelnut
crumble and mint

The lunch platter is nice - Edit
Lunch tasting plate was a good experience. All dishes were tasty and flavorful. I especially enjoyed a dish that had bread in pomodoro sauce with a basil ice cream. Dessert lacked inspiration and was disappointing (I just got a plate with a few slices of apple and strawberry sorbet). It was the sort of sorry excuse for a vegan dessert I get at normal restaurants and would not expect at a Michelin starred vegetarian restaurant, but oh well. At least the savoury stuff was nice. I would return again for the lunch plate.

Superb - Edit
The food was delicious! This was a sensational experience, the staff were warm and welcoming, extremely professionals and attentive. We had the zenith menu, vegan, and I think the only noticeable difference to the vegetarian option was the cheese course. Most of the dishes are vegan by default! The mushroom risotto is probably the best risotto I have ever had. The head chef came to talk to us near the end of the meal which was nice. Oh and the sommelier was such a lovely man! I unfortunately did not catch his name. I would recommend coming here for a special occasion or a treat!

Cena stellata - Edit

Joia Kitchen - Edit
It was fine. I've been to quite a few Michelin Star restaurants with vegan options and this was my least favorite to date considering the food and ambiance. I don't mind spending money on high-quality innovative vegan food, but my vegan tasting meal felt boring...I just wasn't blown away. I've posted a photo of the menu (I ordered the tasting menu) in addition to the food photo. I felt grateful these were small portions of food because I wouldn't have been excited to eat a regular portion of any of them. I guess the price was reasonable at 25 euros, any higher and I would have felt ripped off given my experience.
Read moreI took off one star, as I was a bit irritated because at the end of my meal they asked me if I wanted a hot drink, so I asked for tea. They neglected to tell me there was an extra charge for tea but that the coffee was included. I felt blindsided by this...and they charged *10 euros* for the tea and it was so weak it tasted like water.
Would I eat here again? No.

Hi Jenso. I don’t know any other vegan friendly Michelin Star dining in Milan. My favorites across the globe are Galvin LaChapelle (London), Gautier (London), Eleven Madison Park (NYC), and a Joël Robuchon (St. Barts).

Probably the best vegan food ever - Edit
This was not a cheap experience, but so so worth it. Everything is vegan or can be made vegan. Somalia offers recommendations on vegan wine pairings.
Read moreI got the 40 euro tasting menu for lunch, which was fun to try so many different dishes. Everything was well balanced, really flavorful, and creative. Beautiful presentation.
Partner got the seitan skewer, which was fairly tasty, but I liked my order better. However, the creme brulee his came with was out of this WORLD: two flavors, a vanilla one and a coffee one, the latter of which I’ve never even heard of before but was incredible. So special to have vegan as well.
The best part was that the chef came to chat with us. We were a little drunk from the wine, so we were way too chatty, but he was really kind to us. That made our day.
Dress up, if you’re on a budget go for lunch instead of dinner, and enjoy yourself!
Pros: Flavorful and unique food options, Extensive vegan wines , Perfect service
Cons: Expensive
