⭐️⭐️⭐️

Vegan labeling is very small (and sometimes absent altogether) on the labels and not at all on the menu board. If I didn’t already have an idea of which flavors I were vegan this would’ve slowed me down significantly and made me feel like a jerk since there was a long line of people behind me. Be mindful that even if you order in a paper bowl they will put a piece of (nonvegan) waffle cone in your order unless you specify otherwise. 5 stars for the lemon bar flavor but you can get that at the grocery store by the pint. I’m giving 3 stars overall currently because of the labeling and not really liking the other vegan flavors I’ve tried so far but I might increase it if this pint of banana cream pudding I’m taking home ends up being worth the $12. Because of the above mentioned issues, I’d recommend Andia’s instead (FWIW they’re similarly on the pricey side) they have more distinct flavors that frequently rotate. My bf had 2 of the nonvegan flavors and also prefers Andia’s. UPDATE: Banana cream pudding ice cream is overwhelmingly coconut flavored. It’s not that it tastes bad; it’s just that I wanted banana pudding to be the standout flavor, not the coconut cream. I won’t veer off the lemon bar path in the future.

Pros: Open very late , Lemon bar ice cream 😍

Cons: Pint price > at grocery store , Vegan labeling could be better

Good but I’m torn

For $7 for the smallest two scoops you’ll ever see, I’m struggling with this place. They have two dairy-free options, both coconut based. They were both delicious and super rich but for how “up and coming” this privately held chain ice cream place is, I would love to see some more vegan options. If you’re looking for high-end ice cream, this is a great spot. But for how many vegan options I can now find in a pint in any grocery store for $7 or less, I think coming here once was good enough for me. PS every bowl comes with a waffle wedge — not vegan (not shocking, but always bums me out).

Creamy

I tried the dairy-free (vegan) flavor “Texas Sheet Cake” It was creamy and tasty. Only a slight hint of the coconut base which I was happy about.
There were 4 vegan flavors when I was there (3 ice cream, 1 sorbet)
The cones are NOT vegan.
When ordering a cup it is apparently customary that they stick a slice of waffle cone in the top of your scoop (even when ordering the vegan options) so be sure to tell them not to!
It’s nice to have Jeni’s as an option in Durham but The Parlour will always be my favorite.

Cons: No vegan cones

Great Vegan Options!

They had 5 different dairy free options, which are clearly marked on the board. The cards in front of each flavor in the cold case also list vegan (vs. dairy free), gluten free, and a list of any other allergens. Most are coconut based, but there was one fruit based sorbet.

The flavors were great! I tried all 3 vegan flavors that were also gluten free: cold brew, chocolate truffle, and frose. As I'm gluten free, I can't say if the cones are vegan or not. Make sure to ask, if you aren't getting a bowl.

Pros: Many options, Tasty, Well marked options

awesome! do you notice the coconut base much? I am not a fan of coconut-based ice creams normally because I don't like coconut, but often the taste can be hidden.

I didn't notice it in the chocolate truffle flavor. The cold brew w/ coconut cream flavor did taste like coconut, as intended. The frose sorbet was also excellent and did not contain coconut at all.
