Yum!

The vegan tikka tacos are sooo good! The atmosphere is great and the outdoor seating is very dog friendly. The drinks are great too.

Pros: great atmosphere

Great food and excellent ambiance

We sat on the back patio on a beautiful crisp spring evening after a long climbing day. The propane heaters kept us nice and warm and the vibe was just what we wanted. Vegan burger was surprisingly great, the fries were excellent, and the shishito peppers were solid. Would for sure return here; probably a good date night spot.

Edit: have since returned a couple more times; everything is delicious, and the vibe is cool whether you’re inside or out.

Pretty good

White bean/quinoa burger and fries is good, as is the roasted Brussel sprouts! Ive liked the cauliflower cakes in the past and there is sometimes an additional vegan special as well. Be prepared for the horrendous service though!

Cons: Service is terrible

Food was good, service- Not so much.

We ordered the white bean dip with tortilla chips (that they didn’t nearly give you enough for the dip) the dip was very tasty!
Also the cauliflower cakes in the curry- delicious!
When we arrived, one waitress said - sit wherever you wish- we chose a table in the corner to give us room from other diners (other option was a small table right smack in the middle of the place with lots of purple surrounding and constantly passing by) as we settled into our corner table. Another, very curt, waitress came over to ask if it was just the two of us - when we said yes- she told us we couldn’t sit at that table and should move to one meant for two
When my husband responded that he would rather have the space and would be more comfortable at the corner table- she huffed and walked away. Her annoyed nature stayed with her for the course of our meal there - not attentive, very few words to us, no eye contact while interacting.
I hate to give three stars because of her behavior, but it left a lasting impression of the vibe of the restaurant.

Good for a snack and a drink

It’s the best spot in New Paltz for a drink and snacks outside. We had some fries and they had a few other clearly labeled vegan meals.

I’m conflicted...

I have a bone to pick with Huckleberry. On their menu, they have many items denoted with “vegan option available”, but these “vegan options” are identical to the non-veg version, just with the cheese/meat/sauce removed.

We ordered the vegan poutine and the vegan Reuben. The poutine was just fries with gravy, with no substitution made for the cheese. The vegan Reuben was just vegetables on bread, with no substitution for the cheese, meat, or sauce. They were really good, and we thoroughly enjoyed them, but I don’t think they can be called “poutine” or “Reuben” when so many of their signature ingredients are removed. I was disappointed. With so many elements removed, I’m not happy about paying the same price as the full-fledged version.

Once again, it seems like a classic case of cooks putting only a fraction of the effort into the vegan dishes as they do for the non-veg dishes.

The food is really good, but don’t expect anything close to the real thing.

Pros: Delicious food , Decent price

Cons: Dishonest descriptions , Minimal effort
