Mango Lhaisi is vegan velvety not too sweet perfection

Food is fresh, not spicy, not salty., not greasy. Delish. Reasonable

Awesome

Idk what the other review was talking about with the food being bland - I got the build-your-own bowl and everything was delicious.

Poorly conceived

Tried to Indianize the bowl concept, but fails. Tasteless and not fresh. Paneer is squishy (not fresh); the somosas broke into pieces (not fresh) and kofta balls hard (not fresh). Needs improvement.

Awesome spot

Highly recommend this spot if you’re into Indian style food. The potatoes and veggies were perfectly cooked, and the spinach sauce was slammin’

If you don’t check this spot out while in new paltz I will be disappointed in you

Disappointing

Possibly the worst dosas and samosas I’ve ever had. The chana and the yellow rice were good, and the lassi was excellent, but everything else was a disappointment. I was really looking forward to this place, too. Oh, well.

Pros: Super friendly staff, Almost all vegan , Great mango lassi

Cons: Absolutely terrible dosas, Truly inedible samosas

Many choices! All delicious!

We tried two different bowls: Tamarind rice with chickpea stew, mixed vegetables, broccoli, and Indian coleslaw with coconut sauce; basmati rice with kofta, mixed vegetables, and kofta sauce. Delicious, filling, healthy!!!

Pros: Lots of vegan options. A few vegetarian options., Reasonably priced., Everything we tried was delicious!

My son and I went here for a lunch date. The owner treated us like family. Yum

It was comfortable and spacious. I could taste the love in the food. I hired them for a music festival and they were able to cook for 400. Everyone enjoyed the flavors. Another friend hired them to cook at a retreat. They made dosas on a skillet outdoors. It was fun, exotic and delicious.

Pros: Custom choices, They cater, Lots of vegetables

Tasty, quick

We both got build-your-own bowls with rice, string beans, broccoli, and other veggies. Food was tasty and service was quick (it’s a Chipotle-style buffet where they build it in front of you).

Pros: Lots of options, Flavorful , No wait

Cons: Not cheap but not expensive either

Food was cold

We tried this place a few weeks after they opened. The food wasn't hot and appeared to be sitting out all day for days until it sold and a new batch was made.

I don't think I'd go back as I'd seriously be afraid of food poisoning.

You posted this two weeks ago. But you went a few weeks after they opened. When did you have this experience?

When I had the food, shortly after they opened is what my review is based on.

If you go an hour or so before closing, you will find that nearly everything is sold out and they're having to turn away customers. I've seen this happen more than once. So the food isn't sitting out for days. It's unfair to make such an accusation without solid evidence.

Amazingly good

We almost missed this gem because I've recently gotten in the habit of only looking for vegan restaurants on Happy Cow. We came here planning to go to Lagusta's, but we couldn't because they're closed while they relocate. We noticed this vegetarian Indian restaurant nearby. The only thing that's nonvegan here is the paneer; everything else is vegan. We each had a bowl: you choose your grain, your protein, your choice of three vegetables, and your sauce. We found that we liked the spinach sauce best: it's rich and creamy. The koftes, pakoras, and samosas were also excellent. The vegan mango lassi was totally authentic, based on my recollection of drinking lassi in my prevegan days. I hope the owners will consider opening a new branch in my hometown of Ottawa, Canada.

Pros: Everything is vegan except for the paneer.

Cons: The paneer is not vegan.

Delicious!

I liked being able to customize my bowl. The samosas were yummy as was the fried okra. It was salty but still tasted great.

Pros: All vegan, Build your own bowl, Tasty

Cons: Pretty salty

The bowls are extremely satisfying after long hikes and each dish is flavorful.

Loved the food and each dish on their bowl menu was very flavorful. Not too rich, oily and spicy like other Indian restaurants. Very hearty and fulfilling after long hikes.

Pros: Most dishes are vegan, Everything is flavorful

New favorite spot in New Paltz!!!

DELICIOUS big portions and well priced. A must try if you are vegan in New Paltz! Though unassuming from the exterior, this place is absolute vegan paradise!! Almost everything is vegan and gluten free, aside from the paneer cheese (not vegan) and the samosas (not gf). With the hari bowl, you customize your meal by picking one grain, one protein, three veggies, and a sauce. The kofta sauce is SO freaking good. No extra charge for mango and mint chutneys. They also have unique kombucha flavors and a vegan mango lassi with coconut yogurt.

Pros: Sooo many options!, Good prices.

Loved Krishna Bowl and Samosas

I was somehow lucky to be served after walking in some time after the usual closing hour. It is great to have a place devoted to vegan and vegetarian Indian nearby. I chose the ingredients for my Krishna Bowl: grain (quinoa), protein (garbanzo bean curry), veggies (coleslaw, potatoes and cabbage, eggplant), and sauce (spinach). I then selected the samosa. Vegan ingredients for the bowls were clearly labelled. Everything was delicious, and I had to stop after eating about two-thirds of my bowl. Wow, congratulations on the successor to Bliss Kitchen in Newburgh. I was tipped off about the new restaurant by an article in Hudson One. Thanks! Helpfully, Krishna Kitchen is only a few doors down Church St. from Lagusta's Luscious Commissary!, a vegan cafe.

On a second visit, I was there early, so more veggies were available. This time, they offered Indian squash. I took several looks at broccoli as my protein but could not resist trying the tomato-ey tofu, which looked textured like meat or tempeh. Moreover, this time the potatoes veg option included several veggies with the potatoes, not just cabbage. I also had marinated peppers and onions. I tried a pakora appetizer this time--a samosa sub that was new to me. Another excellent, filling, and satisfying meal at the new Krishna Kitchen.

Best Vegetarian I’ve Ever Had

Incredible food, I got the Hari Bowl and was amazed by the flavor and fullness of the meal. Definitely one of the tastiest dishes I’ve ever had period. Service was friendly and the ambience is very chill. Portions are huge for a good price, 10/10 will be back soon.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Very filling, Great pricing

Cold Food

Went for the first time for a quick snack. We did not want a meal, but looking for some snack like appetizers. Walked in and there were hot trays of food, that looked great and everything was clearly marked vegan, vegetarian and if they were gluten-free. The food looked great, but we ordered a few pakora and kofta. The woman working the counter was super friendly and offered all of their sauces for dipping.
We took it to go and walked about three minutes to some outdoor tables and the pakora and kofta were ice cold and not very flavorful. The three sauces were warm, a curry, cashew tomato and pureed spinach. The first two were pretty good, but the pureed spinach was just that, no herbs. spices or salt.
The ice cold food was a turnoff, but we may try again, but I would get one dish and eat it there to make sure it was hot.

Pros: Vegan and Gluten-Free Clearly Labeled, Good Selection

Cons: Food was Ice Cold
