Variety of eating establishments in one spot. (Similar to Eatily). Vegan options at each location and includes sandwiches, pizza, salads, smoothies.
Closed Mon.
I’ve visited a few times since they opened. Possibly the best vegan pizza on the Seacoast. And from the beginning have been thrilled that they were serving vegan ice cream from Boston.
Sadly, on my most recent visit while my server was scooping out my ice cream I noticed things looked different and asked if they were still serving FōMū. She answered that they had recently switched to a local brand. This meant that they went from fully vegan ice cream to having only one vegan flavor.
I apologized (though I feel like whoever made the decision to change brands should be the one apologizing) and asked for a refund.
Super disappointed.
The place is so nice and inviting, but reducing rather than increasing vegan options is the wrong way to be going.
I’ve been a few times since the opening, and haven’t had much luck finding exciting food for a gluten free vegan.
The atmosphere is enchanting with all the plants, and the outside courtyard really nice during the summer. Love that they have FoMu vegan ice cream. But I can’t eat the vegan pizza (no GF crust), or vegan sandwiches (no GF/v bread.) The salad bar is uninspiring (and gets very pricy as most everything vegan is an add-on), deli options limited and to date no other options have come to fruition (there was supposed to be a noodle bar, which could be promising.) Smoothies are a bit high priced so I haven’t tried any. (If I can make it at home, I’m not usually very inspired.)
It’s a bit of a bummer as the visionary behind this place was the founder of Life Alive, a mostly vegan vegetarian cafe which I adore. This place is decidedly more locavore, with mostly meat options, and plenty of opportunity for cross contamination with uneducated staff. I do hear the vegan pizza is delicious, but that’s been the only positive feedback I’ve heard from vegans.
Update April 2024 - They no longer have FoMu vegan ice cream. The ice cream is dairy, with only one vegan flavor now (Birthday Cake.) Also, no more Planted vegan products sold.
Lovely, new modern arena. Totally vegan ice cream cones exciting varieties, BUT, improvement needed at the grill stir fry salad bars. The vegan gravy sauce is placed next to animal based sauces and none are covered, causing cross contamination. Sadly, some days the stink of meats - yes, dead animals, fill the air at this "garden" location . Tell them to make it all vegan and go down in history as a reformer ! Plus we'd love to sit and relax in the comfortable decor surrounded by a setting free from animal body products on display. The beautiful lush plants can't hide the truth.v
Thanks for the honest review. Sadly now the ice cream selection is not entirely vegan anymore. They stopped using FōMū and have gone with another and only offer one vegan flavor now.
This spot is great. Has vegan pizza and vegan grilled cheese sandwiches amongst their offering. Comfy place to eat, drink and chill out. Good coffee also.
