A drive back to Italy! - Edit
We ordered a pizza and some arancini and they were great! The arancini were so good that weren't enough, they had mushroom inside. The pizza funghi e radicchio with plant base cheese was also awesome. I am Italian so I appreciate when a pizza is well made!

Vegan Napoli style pizza - Edit
Delicious vegan pizza cooked on a traditional pizza oven style crust with innovative but simple toppings. Expect tasty light Napoli crust with those burnt blisters. Some vegan mock meat but generally heroes vegetables - also have amazing vegan ricotta!

Amazing pizzas but the rest didn’t do it for us - Edit
If I had to rate only the food it would be 5/5 stars. The pizzas are REAL ones (those who said it’s soggy or whatever probably think that dominos pizzas are good or whatever, well you’re wrong, Gigi makes real good pizzas with this amazing dough). We got the Patate one and the one with blue cheese and Parmesan and omg: they know how to make good pizzas. They have great ingredients, great dough, flavours are well balanced and it’s an overall win for the pizzas. BUT we didn’t like the vibe much.
Read moreWe went in around 6.40pm on a Thursday night and got seated next to the counter where it’s quite dark and very loud. The music is too loud for a restaurant, it felt like a pub. And because the music is loud people are loud too and it’s a infinite circle of loudness 😂 We couldn’t even hear the waiter properly and didn’t talk much because of that. That being said, some people will love the vibe but it’s just not for us.
There are also too many tables in the restaurant I think, it’s hard to move around. The manager even moved our table while we were eating because waiters couldn’t get behind us. I’m sorry but you have to think about that before you open and not while people eat. We didn’t like the manager very much, he had a very « I want your money » vibe which is not what we look for in a restaurant. I’m a waitress myself and it’s important to me to bond with clients, get to know them and joke around with them (if it’s not rushing around of course, it’s difficult then).
Overall we didn’t like the vibe because it’s not what we look for. They rush you down to eat by taking away empty plates really really (really) quickly and it’s too loud.
Pros: All vegan, Best pizzas for sure
Cons: The vibe didn’t do it for us

I don’t get the hype - Edit
Overpriced. Tasteless mushy toppings on soggy dough. Rude staff.
Read moreDid we just go on a bad night?
I’m conscious not to let a bad service experience ruin genuinely good vegan food but this just didn’t do it for me, from the food to the atmosphere.
Hugely disappointed as everyone else that visits this place seems to think it’s the best place ever. Lucky Sydney has far more to offer for vegans.
Pros: It’s pizza. Everyone loves pizza, All vegan but doesn’t state it (why??)
Cons: Rude staff, Tasteless (what we had anyway), Super loud music

Amazing Italian food - Edit
I went here with a non vegan friend recently and we were both amazed with the quality of the food. The arancini was sublime and the pizza was so tasty, to top it off, the tiramisu did not disappoint. Would recommend eating here

Overrated :( - Edit
I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I was with this place.
Read moreMe and my partner had heard about it for years from vegan, vegos and carnivores. All great, no FANTASTIC feedback.
We always want to support the vegan industry but when you have an experience such as this we can’t just sit back and pretend. And I wish I saw something like this review before I went, because it’s just not MY kind of place.
We look on their website and SM’s where they suggest to come in later as the crowds can be crazy. This is also what all of our friends have told us. “There’s a line out the door waiting for a seat, get there really early or later”. So we arrive at 9pm, 1 hour before closing time to get 1 pizza each. (It does not mention when the kitchen closes)
First impression is “wow, that’s really loud”. Music is blaring at some sort of night club level and the light is very low. There’s probably 6-8 tables with people at them, sooo 20% capacity-ish?!
We get seated right I front of the cutlery station.
We look at the menu and notice some pizzas will use words like “dairy free blue cheese”, and “tree nut ricotta” but most say “Parmesan”, “mozzarisella” (in the dark and being the skeptics that we are we are not ignorant to the spelling...)
So, as the sceptic vegans we are, we ask the staff if they are 100% vegan or not and refer to the wording on the menus. They confirm they are and we decide to stay with a bad taste in our mouth as these words have been told to us at other establishments before...
We have probably been at our table for 5-10 mins when the owner or manager comes to the table and asks us to hurry up so they can send home the kitchen staff.
We order and the food comes out fairly quick. Meanwhile the clean cutlery is being thrown consistently into the cutlery baskets with force. Probably the last table you would seat someone if you have MANY tables available, right?!
Review of the food is wet, bland, soggy and expensive. My partner is a garbage disposal and won’t leave anything behind. He left half the pizza.
We leave the table and the go to pay. The manager/owner says “How was everything, good yeah?” (Very humble)
I’m sure I’m coming across as some snob, but I think this is just standard service and etiquette that is not being met. And as a ”minority” we need to be in the forefront with outstanding customer service.
By all means try it. Everyone likes different things and I get that. But I wouldn’t be going out of my way for it.
Pros: 100% vegan
Cons: Very Expensive, Tastes bad, Horrible environment

Dough to die for - Edit
Gigi's pizzas are, quite simply, a revelation. It's always busy, which is testament to how good the pizzas are. It is in fact a little too busy and noisy for my liking, so I've taken to dropping in quickly to grab takeaway. Whenever I am faced with the decision of choosing where to eat with someone who is not vegan, this is one of my go to places for a casual but memorable bite. Be prepared to queue for a table, that's how busy it gets. But it's worth the wait and you'll forget that you ever did the moment you sink your teeth into that fresh-out-of-the-oven piping hot pizza dough. Not to overlook the toppings (they are all carefully thought out, deliciously balanced and well-paired ingredients), but there's something very special about Gigi's pizza dough – you can read about it on their website. Once you've had it, no other pizza crust will ever be quite as good.

One of the best vegan pizza places I’ve been - Edit
I had the focaccia to start, and it was delicious and salty. But the star was my melazane (ie aubergine) pizza. The most pleasant surprise was the tree nuts ricotta. It had a great taste and texture, and I don’t tend to like v-cheese. The cannoli was fine, but its vanilla custard filling left something to be desired. I’d choose a different dessert next time.

Authentic Italian - Edit
The pizzas could not be more authentic Italian, altough a little bit too oily for me. A place where you could easily bring a meat eater and would not be able to tell that the everything is vegan. The place does not really advertise itself vegan, hard to spot anywhere even on the menu which I am not sure how I feel about.. I came in 30mins before closing; staff seemed tired and just wanted to finish for the day. Tiramisu was ok, cannelloni with vanilla was amazing!

Gigi’s, for lack of a better word is good. Read review for a touching tale. - Edit
Very very good in fact.
Read moreDespite being a harsh critic myself i would go so far as to say it’s incredible.
Let’s begin at the start my friends. And allow me a few minutes of your time to prove to you how amazing this pizzeria is.
It’s been a family tradition that the person who’s birthday it is gets to choose somewhere to eat and there had been no problem with this until my first birthday as a vegan where my older brother refused to go Gigi’s (a place i had found on the internet, probably under: ‘vegan places’).
After a week of searching i had settled upon this place due to the integrity of its owner who had risked going from an ordinary but very successful pizzeria to completely vegan overnight due to the change in his own morals. Something i sympathised with. However my brother rejected this apparently forced ‘dietary’ dinner with screams, tears and shouts. Saying i was forcing my views down this throat, apparently quite literally.
My dear parents tried all the parenting tack tics in the book and eventually, a very red eyed and grumpy brother walked into Gigi’s refusing to eat. Despite this we ordered for him and within half an hour he had started nibbling at a calazone half heartedly.
Cut to the chase, half a year later on his 15th birthday, my still meat eating brother announced to the family that we would be attending Gigi’s for his birthday dinner, breaking the 5 year tradition of a takeaway thai in a park.
And takeaway thai in a park is pretty [censored] good - but Gigi’s is better than good.
Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
