Cantonese Takeaway, Mixed Review

If there was a 2.5 star rating option, that is what I'd give Fu's. I have rounded up to a 3 as they seem to be the most vegan friendly Chinese restaurant in Caernarfon.

So, initially, ordering the food was a little confusing as they have 2 phone numbers listed on their socials. The one on Google was repeatedly unavailable, so I tried the alternative number listed on their Facebook and got through. The member of staff on the phone was helpful and very polite. My food was ready within 20 minutes, but unfortunately, it was packed in a single use plastic bag. The restaurant is open and spacious and the bar area is absolutely beautiful; I would happily visit just to enjoy cocktails here!

The mains I ordered were Sweet and Sour Vegetables and Salt and Pepper Tofu. The S&S Veg had all my favourite veggies (green beans, broccoli, mushrooms, and onion) so it went down a treat, but I was expecting a little bit more variety. The S&P Tofu was nicely flavoured, and the tofu was wonderfully cooked. I recommend this dish to any visiting vegan who enjoys food with a bit of a kick! I did order Vegetable Curried Samosas, but I was (mistakenly?) given Vegetable Spring Rolls instead, and they were just okay. The accompanying side dishes I had were Boiled Rice and Chips. The Boiled Rice was perfectly cooked, but the chips were so bad they were left uneaten.

They do not advertise themselves as having vegan options (e.g, no mention of this on socials), and none of their vegan 'vegetarian' are listed as vegan. There were also not as many vegetarian options as there were of meat options. They did have other dishes, which I suspect to vegan, such as the Vegetable Tofu Casserole, but it would be best to speak to a member of staff about this.

Pros: Good Portion Sizes, Helpful and Informative Staff, Good Salt and Pepper Tofu

Cons: Vegan Options Not Labelled, Chips and Sweet and Sour Veg Could Be Improved, Could Do With More Choices

Few choices but tasty

Probably only 4 main dishes can be made vegan. We were worried to start with but ended up with a beautiful meal. Recommend the tofu vegetable casserole.

Pros: Well cooked food, Nice decor and environment , Large portions

Cons: Vegan not labelled on menu, Expensive

Delicious!

Had dinner here with my family, couldn’t fault it, delicious. Lots of veggie/vegan options and staff really helpful. Had the vegetable lettuce wrap to start and then the vegetable and cashew nuts in Szechuan sauce with rice for main. Would definitely visit again. Would advise booking in advance as it’s always busy!
