El Pital (a bnb space) has their own all vegan kitchen with a breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert and drink menu. Do not miss this!! Everything is so fresh and a lot is grown on site. I’ve tried a lot of things so far but my favorite is the curry and nachos.

I would come here again just for the views. Stunning! We drove our quad bike down the steep hill to where a carpark was available and then walked about five minutes to the cafe. I shared a couple of chocolate smoothies/milkshakes and also a slice of cake. So rich!! I am glad I had the chai latte smoothie because the full chocolate one was too much for me. We didn’t even finish the passionfruit chocolate slice due to the richness. Loved this experience and would recommend going just for a smoothie and cake.

Vegan Paradise on Ometepe - Edit
I came there for breakfast and had the Shakshouka and a ceremonial cacao. The lacotion is awesome. You can sit close to the lake.

Fantastic vegan chocolate options! - Edit
100% vegan cafe, restaurant, accommodations! Didn't stay but visited twice. We had the snickers, triple chocolate cheesecake, passion fruit and chocolate cheesecake, coconut chai chocolate shake, a few other drinks, loaded nachos, veggie burger! Everything was good, the non sweet treat menu was slightly underwhelming we thought, the food was nicer enough but nothing outstanding and expensive for nica. The chocolate is obviously the star of the show - the cheesecakes in particular were phenomenal! Worth the price tag. The snickers was good but seemed less good value for the size compared with the cheesecakes. Iced coffee, iced cacao, watermelon smoothie, coconut chai chocolate shake all very nice. It's a lovely setting on the water front and nice staff. Service is a bit slow (usual for central america!). Would definitely recommend coming morning/midday as it does get a bit buggy later on that side of the island! They also offer cacao tours and ceremonies - we didn't do so can't comment on the quality.

The cheesecake was honestly huge and with a chocolate shake I was stuffed. Also nachos. The whole menu is vegan and it is delicious, not cheap considering in nicaragua but still worth a visit for vegan chocolate fix. Recommend the desserts and drinks!

nice place right by the front of the lake, the first time we went the service was good but the next time it wasn’t. ordered blueberry pancakes and got the chocolate ones which were quite dry and the smoothie bowls were okay nothing amazing.

Very nice location. Breakfast was not very tasty though. I orderet the Pancakes with Blueberry and Coconut. As I did not find any blueberrys in my meal I asked and then they told me that they are out of blueberry - sadly to late for me to change my order…. My friend had the oatmeal, this was good but not great.

Had the cacao bowl and the brownie which were both very tasty. Enjoyed them on their wooden deck overlooking the lake 😍 Didn’t try their main dishes, but it’s great for a sweet afternoon snack.

2 weeks on this Island meant that I tried almost everything here, everything is delicious, favourites are the Lasagne (Sunday Brunch) Chili Sin Carne and the passion fruit cheesecake, all the shakes are great too, especially the spirulina crunch😋

Chocolate paradise!! An absolute must - Edit
Absolutely had to try this place but didn't have much time, so we had 3 chocolate things at once to not miss out. They made an exception for us and served us the chocolate smoothie bowl at night, and it was amazing, lots of toppings including homemade granola. The chocolate smoothie had cacao nibs and was like paradise with a (chocolate covered) straw, and for "dessert" we tried the 3 layer chocolate cheesecake and although we were almost maxed out on chocolate it was divine.

Cannot say enough good things about El Pital: it’s the best food I had in Nicaragua and the best place I have stayed! I stayed in one of the private cabins and it was absolutely worth treating myself here: for only 60 USD a night I had the most beautiful private cabin surrounded by trees and the lake.. the food was also incredible: their regular menu is absolutely delicious and they also have a taco night that is not to be missed! The lake view from the restaurant is gorgeous and the staff are super friendly. 100% recommend!

Such a treat to find vegan desserts! The cheesecake is amazing, but quite pricey. No one in my group thought the main dishes were great or worth the expensive price so I'd just stop for dessert ... But, taco night (happens Wednesdays I believe) was great, the tacos are creative and flavorful. There's free wifi, the cafe is right on the lake so really beautiful spot.

Superb lunch, we had burger and curry - both highly recomended! Good size portion, good price and well cooked fresh food. The best thing though was the choc cheesecake dessert - best cheesecake weve ever eaten!!!

A beautiful setting looking over the lake and a view of Volcan Concepcion to the left. If you're lucky you might even see monkeys passing overhead! I probably would have eaten here every day I was on Ometepe if I had my own transport, as the food was always lovely! I'm not a potato wedges fan usually, but they have it nailed! The food was always fresh too. Coffee is tasty, and of course the chocolate things were amazing! I would highly recommend the iced cacao in particular. The price is more than your average in Nicaragua but definitely still affordable! Even on my backpackers budget. One thing to look out for, I noticed a couple of the breakfast items had honey in them.

I stayed at El Pital for 2 nights and can say that it has a magical atmosphere right at the lake😍. For breakfast we had a cashew-cream cheese bagel which was amazing!! The bagel had little chunks of cocoa beans on top. My friend had the chocolate bowl which was massive and also very good.

As snacks I had the brownie and the energy ball which were both incredibly good!
Unfortunately, the service is sometimes very slow :(.
