Wonderful vegan pie - Edit
Recently catered a friend's birthday and wow, what a gem! Shared the mushroom and tarragon pie as well as cheesy leek and potato pie. Both were lovely and rich. I do always worry about vegan cheese but the balance was just right here. I also had a nibble of the gluten-free Moroccan pie and was very impressed with the pastry. If you are having an event anywhere nearby, I cannot recommend enough.

We went to Ardfern looking for a meal based on the displayed opening hours. We found out that this lady just does the occasional pop up Sunday roast, or comes and cooks at your house
Read moreSo disappointed as we really enjoyed her food some years ago.
Instead, we went to Lucy's cafe where I had a delicious hummus bowl.

Loved it! - Edit
Great service & food. The owner was very welcoming and we enjoyed the soup, a curry and the walnut pate. Too full for puddings but we did take a Viennese whirl and some apple cake home and they were just as fantastic. A real treat to find this gem of a cafe😍

Excellent sandwiches - Edit
We were glad to be driving near Oban on our way to Kilmartin over the weekend, so we could try this pop up! In a sunny cheerful spot above the store in a tiny village, this is a sweet place with friendly owners. Our unchicken sandwiches were delicious, as were the baked good treats and coffee. Highly recommend stopping in!

Hi , I'm glad that you enjoyed the food at Catchacarrot. Despite not having allergens marked there is a permanent sign saying speak to staff re allergens when you order which you did .

A Real Vegan Gem - Edit
This was recommended by my family in Ardfern and exceeded our expectations. Dropped in twice for a lunch and both times the food was wholesome, substantial and simply delicious... I doubt even hardened omnivores would find fault with the Nochicken sandwich or Cheesy wedges

Absolutely delicious food!!! - Edit
For me as a vegan chef I can highly recommend this place! Me and my hubby Are in Scotland right now and a friend of ours recommended this place. We are so happy that we caught up 😍 We had a delicious Seitan and mushroom burger along with a tarragon walnut pâté. As a starter we shared a Indian onion bhaji plate. The food was so delicious that we decided to take two more main dishes as a takeaway and several pieces of cake. To everyone who is around:

Fabulous - Edit
We drove out of our way to visit this lovely cafe and wasn’t disappointed. I ordered a sandwich and received so much more. The side salads that accompanied it were delicious and varied. I asked if there was more of one of them so I could take it home for later.

Beacon of light for a vegan in the Scottish countryside. - Edit
Janine has a great choice of food and a lovely, friendly, welcoming personality. I spotted the roadside sign whilst driving north from Lochgilphead one evening (Janine and I both saw the same beautiful rainbow). Although I had been cooking over a small camping stove during my holiday, circumstances conspired to bring me back, the next day, to enjoy the vegan café offerings (pea and pesto soup and walnut and tarragon pâté amongst others). All the positive reviews are true. As a lover of the outdoors with a strong desire to move to rural Scotland, Janine's pioneering spirit gives me great hope that it is possible to fit in as a vegan.

Delicious homemade vegan food - Edit
We have bought food from Catchacarrot a few times at pop up stalls and the food has always been delicious. We usually end up with a huge box of cakes to take home since we can't possibly choose just one! Since the lockdown, we have ordered food to be delivered from the Catchacarrot Christmas menu and from the Indian delivery nights. It has been absolutely outstanding each time. The Indian food in particular is the best I have ever eaten, including prior to being a vegan. The menu is always varied and exciting, and the portions are very generous. We're really looking forward to the cafe being able to reopen - the food is definitely worth a visit!

Catchacarrot is now in permanent premises behind the village stores in Kilmelford. Highly recommended whatever your food preferences. Delicious plantbased food made from scratch with love. A selection of lunch items to eat in or takeaway and divine home baking. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

100% worth the detour - Edit
Catchacarrot is quite isolated on the west coast of Scotland, but so worth the detour if you are heading nearby!! I had a lasagna which was a generous portion and amazingly tasty! Then took away one homemade viennese whirls and WOW, an absolute delight in the evening! Janine runs the whole place by herself: a true gem and so lovely to chat to. Go encourage and spread veganism there!!

The food here is infused with belief, dedication and courage. The Buddha Bowl is the piece de résistance with the Tarragon and Walnut terrine a close second. The blueberry and lemon cake was moist and not too sugary. Absolute joy! Janine's food makes you want to turn vegan. Please go there, whatever your persuasion.

Delicious - Edit
Just visited my friend Janine's Catchacarrot Vegan Pop Up Café in Ardfern at the Craignish Village Hall. Her food is all freshly made on site and totally delicious. She uses as many organic ingredients as she can while keeping her prices very reasonable. We are very grateful to have such a fantastic Vegan cook in the village, we can actually walk down the street to get to her. The atmosphere is always brilliant, Janine is very funny and never boring, she always makes you feel welcome. It is a real treat to have a vegan café that doesn't just buy in all its food. Her cakes are legend, we never leave hungry. She always buys in really interesting cordials, and sometimes even makes her own. She is amazing.
