Vegan Pop Up August 2024!

Went to Bwyd Da Bangors' first Vegan Pop Up tonight and was thoroughly impressed. As this is Happy Cow, I can't give them 5 stars for being an establishment there serves meat, but the vegan evening absolutely was a five-star event!

So, firstly, the non food stuff. I have to mention how great the staff were. They were warm and accommodating and absolutely on the ball. The venue itself is also spacious, well decorated, and really comfortable. Bwyd Da Bangor host a range of events and always have vegan options available on their menus, in addition to having vegan options on their regular service menus. All pop-ups and menus are posted on their socials, and I highly recommend you follow them so you don't miss out. Now, onto the food!

The sell-out evening menu consisted of small plates in the form of starters and bigger plates as mains. We ordered three small plates as a table of two, consisting of the Hummus Platter, Korean Bao Buns, and Deep Fried Courgette. Everything was beautifully presented and perfectly portioned. My non-vegan companion was particularly obsessed with the courgette starter, and I especially enjoyed the balance of flavours of the hummus dish. For my big plate main, I had the Courgette, Spelt, and Cumin Fritter. This was without a doubt my favourite dish of the evening as the flavours were really amazing and the dish was SO pretty to look at. My only criticism is that the portion could have been a touch more generous. We also had desserts, and I thought the Salted Caramel Brownie finished the meal off wonderfully!

I believe Bwyd Da Bangor is planning on doing another Vegan Pop-Up, and I can not recommend it enough to fellow vegans in or around Bangor. I am SO looking forward to returning!
