Pasta with veg - Edit
That's it spagetti with some veg. Sauted leeks mushroom and a little broccoli in olive oil. Could have used more veg and some herbs or garlic and chilli. It was a large portion of pasta perfectly passible the positive side, I got fed so that was good.

One vegan option (spaghetti with raw quinoa) on the menu, not willing to improvise. Vegan version of the Salad was without dressing and just lettuce with fruit.. Bruschetta without cheese was ok. We were charged the same money for the meals (even without cheese, chicken whatever..)

Alabote is a life saver when everything else in the area fails. The outdoor seating is quite nice and the views are good as well. The food is nothing special but tasty. Prices are ok.

Be aware, this is a seafood restaurant so there is this particular smell which is okayish when sitting outside.

Nice restaurant with a sea view. Friendly staff. Only one vegan option, though. It was bland. It improved significantly after a sprinkle of black pepper.

Very limited options in this part of the island but we liked this restaurant. The vegan option was a spaghetti with vegetables and quinoa. Very large portion. Bruschetta was great too. Local wines served.

My review may be unbalanced because I was so happy to FINALLY see something for me on the menu, but yes.... They had a tasty soup of the day that was vegan (leek soup) $1.50 euro?, and I had the curry rice and veg 9$ euro, it was good. There isn't a tonne of options, but it's nice to have any at all and it was tasty food. Also you could order lupins (tremoços) too, for an appetizer! Don't think it was specifically listed on menu, but most place have this. So yes, to the part that said it was reported to not have any in August 2022, I can say they do indeed still have vegan food as of Sept 2022!

I don't think there is anything else with vegan option in Ribeira Grande area. We wanted to try TukáTulá but it was closed. Alabote saved us as they had baked eggplant with chickpeas and curry rice with veggies. Also the soup of the day was vegan which was great. The meals were not that tasty - the eggplant was a tiny portion and the cabbage-carrot side salad was not a good or filling choice. The curry rice is what it is - the rice is colored by curry but don't expect rich coconut sauce with lots of veggies😄it only comes with some baked vegetables, mostly carrot. All dishes needed salt to be at least good. One member of the staff didn't speak English at all so it would be hard to communicate if his colleague wasn't available.

They make small batches of the vegan options due to limited demand, but they were sold out of everything but the curry rice and veggies. No harm no foul, though! It was yummy!
