Very cool vibe. Clean. Lovely view of beach and surfing waves. Good served only inside. Vegan options we chose were: hummus-yummmm! Mushroom tacos-amazing. Vegetable bowl-yumm! Side roasted potatoes! Well presented and friendly service. 5 star rating.

Delicious, amazing - Edit
We loved it here. Simply put, excellent service, beautiful location, you can hear the ocean while you eat. I had a vegan cauliflower dish, as well as vegan tacos to start and even a vegan pudding!! Do book ahead though, as we only just got in by the skin of our teeth.

The location is beautiful, cocktails are delicious, and it was the best meal I have had on the island thus far. I had the vegetable bowl and highly recommend. Nice staff and pretty seating area right along the water.

Stunning location, solid vegan options - Edit
Even if you aren't in the mood for a meal, you should definitely check this spot out for a drink. Beautiful location right on the ocean, views from every table. When I went most of the vegan options (cauliflower and eggplant confit) revolved around hummus, and sadly the hummus was lacking a bit in flavor but I'd still def recommend a visit.

The food was the best we had on the island! We wish we had come here sooner. The view is fabulous, the wait staff friendly and food was so good! We shared the mushroom tacos which we both thought were so flavorful. We also shared the vegetable bowl and the roasted cauliflower. Everything was flavored so well, it was elevated cuisine. We ended the meal with a pineapple crumble with vegan whipped cream. It was delicious like everything else. I highly recommend this restaurant!

The restaurant is right on Santa Barbara beach. The snack bar and bar opens at 10am but the restaurant doesn't open until noon. We had mushroom tacos which were good but was mainly mushroom and hummus in a soft corn tortilla. We both had the vegetable bowl which was good. Both the tacos and the bowl were small servings. They had a red fruit with vegan whipped cream for dessert which was delicious. It was not on the menu and we asked if they had a vegan dessert. Full bar with some fancy drinks. Everything is pricy relative to other places on the island.

The bar is quite pricy but it supreme location and very tasty food is unbeatable. The vegan options are rather limited, but still worth a penny. I had a mushroom bao, a quinoa salad and a impressive vegan plum cake with sorbet. Definitively worth a visit.

The location is fantastic—right by the beach, offering a relaxing and picturesque setting. The staff are incredibly friendly, adding to the overall positive experience.
Read moreHowever, the limited vegan options on the menu are a downside. While the food is quite tasty, the price point is rather steep for the Azores. A simple dish of cauliflower with pickles and hummus costs €16, which seems excessive for the locale.
Given the high prices, I would recommend visiting primarily for drinks rather than a full meal.

Tuka Tula is right on Santa Barbara beach, and if you sit outside you have a great view of the sea. However, you may have to wait a while to get a seat. For us it took about 15 minutes. When we were there, there were three vegan dishes: a bao bun with mushrooms, hummus and a vegan bowl. If you're lucky, there might also be a vegan dish of the day, but don't count on it. I went for the bao bun and the hummus. The bao bun was very tasty. Unfortunately, the hummus wasn't quite what I was looking for, as it was a little too sour. Personally, I think the price of €10 for hummus and some bread is rather expensive compared to the other dishes. But all in all, I really liked it there.

Tula Tula is really vegan friendly - Edit
Had a great late lunch here with our family. Located right on the water with a great view of the beach, we enjoyed mushroom bao buns, carrot hummus with an Asian flair, and vegetable bowls with local grilled pineapple. All vegan and mostly gluten free with great service and drinks as well. Highly recommend!

I really enjoyed our meal at Tuka Tula and I will definitely return. The baos are tasty and so is the hummus. The views are amazing and the staff is friendly. Drinks are good as well and the atmosphere is laid back yet not too relaxed for dinner.
Read moreYet, I have to remove one star because of the questionable behavior. If you do not have a reservation, you will be added to a queue. You are invited to buy a drink and chill until they get you. Absolutely reasonable as the place is always packed. However, they told us, it won't be long. People left, people came. Two tables (small and large) were empty the whole time when everyone in the queue got annoyed and after two hours, we left hungry. Only come with a reservation and avoid the queue and do not spend to much money on waiting time drinks.

What more could I ask for than a delicious meal with an ocean view? We watched waves crash as we ate the most delicious mushroom tacos and vegan bowls. The food here is SO FRESH and flavorful that we first went for lunch, then went back the last night we were on the island for dinner. That night we had the pad Thai (made vegan) and WOW. It was amazing. Highly recommend this spot if you find yourself on São Miguel!

I was surprised by other reviews of this based on our experience. The vegan options I can remember are: mushroom bao bun, mushroom taco, mushroom risotto, pad Thai, veggie bowl and some sides. We had the sunny lemonade which was delicious. My husband had the pad Thai which had silken tofu in and he was bowled over by it (he’s noodle mad and this was up there). I had the veggie bowl which wasn’t huge but was really well put together with tastes and textures. I also ordered the garlic almond rice which was so delicious. The staff were really friendly and the setting is naturally fantastic.

Vegan wrap and zucchini spaghetti with pesto - Edit
The highlight of our choices were the fries that were very tasty. The wrap was supposed to be filled with seasoned vegetables but was 99% lettuce. I complained and they brought me a new plate that had 50 % seasoned veggies (broccoli, mushrooms, onions, carrot) and 50 % lettuce. The vegan zucchini spaghetti with pesto was tasty but small. The primary source of protein was three cashew nuts, sunflower seeds and a few pumpkin seeds. Nice presentation but nutritionally lacking. I do not recommend this location for vegan options. A beautiful spot to have a refreshing beverage however.
