Simple food, nice staff - Edit
This restaurant is located across from the ferry station. If you go in and ask for the vegetarian/vegan menu they will gladly provide it to you! I verified with the owner that everything on that menu is vegan (and not a mix of vegetarian and vegan dishes), so order away! The food here is simple veggie Japanese food (rice, miso soup, cooked/fried vegetables and tofu), but it tastes good and is one of the better vegan options on the island. What made the difference for me was that I found the staff here to be especially lovely! They were very friendly and the older woman at the counter (perhaps one of the owners) made nice conversation with me about vegan food and my travels, so sweet!

I'd expected more - Edit
For 2000 yen the lunch really wasn't good enough. They basically put some vegetables on cold rice, what's tasty but not worth 2000 yen to me.

Wonderful - Edit
We are so lucky that we went to this restaurant, which is also a Ryokan.
Read moreThe people were incredibly warming and welcoming and gave us better maps of Miyajima.
They had a separate Vegan menue, where we tried the Sushi and the Tempurah. Both were very delicious and the chef came by and explained us every ingredient and how to eat it.
We were also given the chance to try the unique Nigiri plate, which was amazing. A must try if you look for a creative vegan dish.
Probably the best place to go to if you’re looking for an authentic, delicious dish. Location is also great right at the ferry station.
Give it a try - the lovely people will make your day.
Pros: Extremely kind staff, Creative food, Great location
Cons: Not so many options

They are so friendly, speak a little English, are welcoming, and adapt a lot of things that other restaurants can’t. There’s veggie sushi, veggie tempura, and one other option but I forget what it was...

Delicious food in Miyajima - Edit
I wish this place was in the city! If you go to Miyajima Island you need to come here!! So many vegan options, we ordered almost everything they had available: veggie rolls, tempura and the breaded tofu was so gooood!!! Everything was delicious. Highly recommend this place.

Fantastic vegetarian experience - Edit
This was superb. The waiter / chef was incredibly attentive and explained very carefully what each item was and reassured us about the veggie broth available (over Dashi based soup). The tofu was the best I've ever had. Hands down. Loved it! Definitely go here for an interesting and traditional meal.

Great meal and very welcoming - Edit
Lovely place with 5 options on the vegetarian/vegan menu. We shared the sushi set and tempura set and got plenty of food, including miso soup, bowl of rice and pickles. The miso soup and sushi set were especially tasty. The lady there was very welcoming and helpful telling us what everything was.

Finally! Authentic Vegan Tempura - Edit
Tried their vegan tempura dish and it was amazing! Highly recommend. I love eating Japanese food and wish more vegan options were available. Tempura is rare to eat because of the dashi (fish stock) dip and the oil they deep fry it in. I was very happy to receive this option. A bit pricey but tasted great.

Delicious! - Edit
Stopped in for lunch upon arrival to Miyajima, I asked for the vegetarian set and specified no Dashi in my soup and the lady came back with an entirely different vegan menu which was fantastic. I changed my order to the nigiri and it was so gooooood and a Dashi-free miso soup😄she gave me tea as well and didn’t charge me for it, very friendly.

Good food - Edit
Went here for lunch whilst on Miyajima. They had a good english menu with a separate vegan/vegetarian menu. Not too expensive considering being on a very touristy island. Mine was ¥1200 and it was really good! Great place to eat if you are looking for vegan food

Good vegan options - Edit
Had a lovely lunch here. There is a sign outside offering vegetarian and vegan options. At first the woman who seated us brought the wrong menu that didn't appear to have any veggie stuff, but then when we asked she brought a separate special menu (has English text). One of us had the veggie nigiri sushi set and the other had the veggie tempura set. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. One of the friendly local deer wanted to join us for lunch too!

Great tempura! - Edit
The vegetable tempura and soba noodles were really good. Some of the best tempura i’ve had. There was no-one in the restaurant so we were a bit hesitant at first but i’m glad we went for it. The woman (likely the owner) working there was so kind and spoke proficient English, even explaining how to properly eat soba noodles. I’d go back again.

Delicious food & friendly service - Edit
Taught by our experience in other non-veggie restaurants in Japan, we started by explaining that we were vegetarian and what we could and couldn’t eat. The waitress listened politely but then said they had many veggie customers and could definitely cater to our needs. She pointed out the veggie options on the menu and checked we were ok with the ingredients. We had the veggie tempura and mixed veggie rolls set which were both delicious. I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere of the restaurant and would definitely return.

One of Our Favorite Meals of the Trip - Edit
We visited in September and had the veggie tempura and three vegetarian sushi rolls. This was some of the best vegetarian tempura and sushi of my life! We loved the ume shiso roll and the varied tempura (burdock, lotus, even a tempura shiso leaf). It started off a bit rough when the waiter seemed to think that vegetarian meant fish stock, and when I reiterated no fish, no fish stock he repeated vegan. So we said yes, no fish no fish stock, vegan. After that initial confusion, he was a fantastic waiter and said that the chef was preparing special tempura sauce for us without fish stock, and took the time to explain what each tempura was, as well as which sushi roll was best by itself or dipped in sauce. Could not recommend the place enough, just be sure to be clear that you don’t want any fish or fish stock when ordering. If I could rate it five stars I would (five stars are only an option for fully vegetarian or vegan restaurants in this app)
