No longer selling yubaman 😭 - Edit
Just went and asked... They said they are no longer selling the yuba bun. Just fish or beef. Sad as I've been coming here to get them for years.

Great on the go snack - Edit
I really like the yuba steamed bun and found the sweet flavour of the bun and the savoury flavour of the tofu to be really delicious. Also, super cheap!

Tasty snack - Edit
The flavor of the yuba bun was subtle, but tasty, a great snack for lunch when you had a big breakfast.

Not as bland as I thought it would be - Edit
The bun was not as bland as as I thought it would be given the reviews. It was ok and so was the price.

Nice warm Yuba steam bun - Edit
First time trying it out. Neutral taste. The bun was so fluffy, could not resist :))
Read moreLook for the shop not on the main drag facing the sea, but on the inside part where the shops are on both sides of the street.

A nice snack - Edit
You'll find Miyajima steam buns on the main shopping/restaurant street on the island. It shouldn't be hard, we weren't even looking for it!
Read moreDefinitely worth a try (because why not!) I found the taste a little odd. It wasn't bad, just odd to me. Like it wasn't totally savoury and had a little bit of a citrus flavour to it. Its somewhere in between savoury and sweet. The Yuba tofu on the inside is creamy and chewy and the bun hot and bread-like.

I want more! - Edit
Super yum steamed bun, simple and delicious. Kind of tasted lemony to me. Cost me ¥350, they also have 2 meat flavours so lots of people enjoy it. Wanted to go back after sunset but it was closed :((

Delicious steamed bum with tofu! - Edit
Great snack in Miyajima, the vegan option is market as “vegetarian” but it is vegan! Comes with tofu inside, I could easily have 3 of those, it’s so fluffy and delicious!

Bit bland. - Edit
Just yuba (tofu skin) in a steamed bun. Not a lot of flavour. Fills the hole:

Looks better than it tastes - Edit
I mean it’s a bun with tofu inside so I guess one can’t expect too much from it but I think there’s scope for making something more interesting with it

Tofu Buns - Edit
I appreciate everyone who is making an effort to provide vegetarian / vegan options. It was a fresh warm bun filled with tofu. Simple flavours.

not memorable - Edit
The staff assured me that the one vegetarian steamed bun on the menu was also vegan. It's possible that there was something lost in translation. The bun and tofu were not overly flavorful. However, I had just hiked Mt Misen, so I still ate it in approximately 8 seconds.

Had Better - Edit
If you're not into a doughy mixture that taste like egg then I do not recommend this 'bun'. I've had different vegan-friendly steamed buns from other places that have a fluffy consistency with a smooth, cream filling in the middle. Definitely a lot better than the bun I had here. My stomach did not agree with me after eating it. I was sceptical about the egg taste and asked if there was egg in it, the staff member said no egg and no milk.

Good snack! - Edit
Tried it the vegan bun, the staff knew what vegan meant and advertise it as vegan. It was nice but a little dry and bland, good cheap snack to fill up on thought as you walk around :)

Good buns to try! - Edit
I haven’t been able to find any vegetarian steamed buns on my trip here so was very pleased to find these guys!
Read moreThe vegetarian buns just contain tofu so they could be considered a bit bland as there was no sauce, but the tofu had a great flavour to it and I ended up having two!

Good as a snack while wandering the streets; felt it needed a bit more sauce/spice.
