Sucks - Edit
I was so excited to try because of the reviews but don’t waste your time the ramen has no flavor and the vegan meat is disgusting chewy and again no flavor. This is the worst ramen I’ve had in Chicago

Try the vegan ramen! - Edit
The Vegan Tan Tan Men (vegan ramen) here is so delicious!! I like that they use Upton’s seitan. The buckwheat noodles feel especially hearty & I felt very satisfied after! I love this ramen!!

Delicious vegan ramen - Edit
I agree with others that this is the best vegan ramen in the area. It's hearty and so flavorful. It does come with a good bit of chili oil, so be mindful of that if you're not into spicy food.

Love the Vegan Ramen - Edit
Their vegan ramen is hearty, hot, and very satisfying! By default, it comes with a generous slick of chili oil on the top which provides (for me, anyway) just the perfect amount of heat. The restaurant can get quite busy, but, in my experience, they move customers through pretty rapidly (though they don't make you feel rushed at all once you've sat down). If you come by yourself, you can usually snag a seat at their large communal table.

Ramen Wasabi - Edit
I have eaten at Ramen Wasabi a few times and was never that impressed. My last experience was very bad, as I became ill immediately after eating the vegan ramen and end up having to go to urgent care. The owner did not want to speak to me about this issue. A manager offered to refund our meal but never processed a refund.

Best Ramen in Area - Edit
I loved Wasabi! Best ramen in area for sure, I’m not a super fan of Seiten so next time I will sub out, I only say that in case you don’t love it either. The menu is well labeled, and it is a place multiple dietary standards would enjoy.

Stellar vegan ramen! - Edit
Typically long waits during dinner hours but the vegan ramen is incredibly good! Only a couple vegan options, but they’re all good!

Finally a Ramen with Flavor! - Edit
I've sampled more vegan ramen than I should willingly admit to, and this is by far the best. The broth is rich and flavorful and the bowls are filled with delicious veg (especially love it when they grill the bok choy) and some Upton's seitan. It's incredibly filling and satisfying.
Read moreThey also have a couple of next-level vegan sushi rolls - the hot yogi vegan and the vegan ceviche maki. The menu has quite a few other vegan options that are easy to spot, but these are my recommendations.
This place can get busy really fast, especially when it's nice and cold out. I recommend going around 6-6:30 on a weeknight as there can be a line out the door at times. This place is also BYOB!
EDIT: they no longer serve sushi, but they have added a Vegan Poke Bowl that is amazing! It's also bar service now so no more BYOB.
Pros: vegan ramen , friendly staff
Cons: no reservations, sometimes a line out the door

best vegan ramen in Chicago - Edit
The vegan ramen is so, so good. I still don't understand how they get the vegan broth to be so flavorful. Do yourself a favor and go to Wasabi (maybe at an off-hour, as the lines can sometimes be long). You will love the vegan ramen.
